Broke off a 5-6 pounder this morning here in SW, Ohio about 30 minutes before my work shift in a pond I fish. Using a Berkley Powerbait 5" General in blue/black with the bright blue tail wacky rigged. I was 6-7 feet from the bank and had just lifted it and started to reel down and saw the big greenish/white side of it come out of nowhere and engulf it. I short set the hook and had it on for 8-10 seconds and was going to back off the drag on my Nasci and snap. I'm still depressed 10 hours later.😊

That stinks. We all know that feeling if we are being truthful. That is a big northern LMB. May I ask what brand hook you were using. I feel that I have lost a lot of fish on the Wacky this year for some reason.

We've all made the incorrect drag mistake. Easy to forget but set drag everytime you pick up a fresh rod especially with 8-12 lb line.

Man that's a bummer
Biggest issue I have bass fishing is I try fishing too fast. Last time I was out, I purposely slowed down, slowed way way down. I was fishing a ring worm on a Texas rig with no weight. The drop was super slow and I let it go to bottom. Took long pauses, gave it short twitches, long pause. The method really produced and I was out doing others I was with. Need to discipline myself to slow down.
I absolutely love throwing a Texas rig. I’ve got a Tatula + Tournament Pro specifically for a Texas rig. One of my favorite combos.
My husband laughs at me because the whole back of our boat is full of anything to do with Texas rigs..lol
Great information thank you
Tyler - Real happy to see you partnering with Omnia. Good folks there plus a refreshing switch-up from Tackle Warehouse, although I'm not degrading TW because they carry the most comprehensive product lines, in both brands as well as color selections. The incentives Omnia offer is helpful to us junkies!
This year is my first time getting serious about fishing. I crushed spring time but summer time presents a ton of problems like low tides and ton's of mats.
Take a shot every time he says " stump or brushpile " cheers 🥂

He had a “Baits in the month of June video” on his other channel. Said it like 3000000000 times lol. love it though
Good stuff!
Good 'ol Monster worm. Tequila Sunrise. Heck yeah. Thanks Tyler.
I like your videos BUT here in Arizona we DON'T have all the cover that you talk about. Best we can hope for is some rock piles..😊
Just working banks and points with Tx rigged worms in 2-25 feet has worked well for me for decades.
I almost caught maybe the biggest bass of my life last night but as it came out of the water it spit the bait, apparently wasn’t even hooked it just didn’t wanna let go of my senko😢 was using 3/16th oz bullet weight and a smoke/silver 5 inch senko cut in half
Thanks, Tyler. I have a basic but important question... And some readers will probably roll their eyes I am proficient at using 2D, down imaging or side imaging to find brushpiles, but I have trouble translating from the image of the brushpiles to actually casting to it. I know do drop a waypoint , set a casting ring, and cast to it but, I'm never confident I'm hitting it, unless I am just dropping and fishing vertically. Ideas?

When I'm crappie fishing I drop my marker buoys on my brushpiles...Maybe this can help in your situation.

What would you recommend for a pond with two foot visibility and submerged vegetation?

Maybe a swim jig?
What size hook do you use when you throw an ol' monster? Everytime I rig one up my hook always looks too small

Glad I got to run into you Saturday morning at the boat ramp! Thanks for taking the time to say Hi. Man it was a tough one out there that day though.

@@thatfishingnoob It was a tournament on his home lake.. Not a lake break but would still make for a good video. I wish more guys filmed tournaments.

@@ReelAppalachianAngler oooo! Exciting. I’ll be on the lookout. Tournament fishing is a different animal. I’ll figure it out one day 😂
I had vowed to fish more hard baits this year but as time has moved on i've "regressed" back to my trusty old texas rig worm.

I love fishing hard baits. But once the water warms up there's just too much weeds to fish them effectively
No fish, just a lot of hot air.
I’ve yet to catch a mf with the Texas rig 😢
Where did you buy your boat
