Remember that iconic and infamous title decider race of the 1997 F1 season at Jerez when Michael Schumacher, in a desperate attempt to not let him through, drove into Jacques Villeneuve's Williams, only to put himself and his Ferrari out of the race and lose the championship?
Well, with the mods I am showcasing here, it is now possible to recreate this and many other races of this exciting F1 season in AMS2.
Here I am in Mika Häkkinen's McLaren MP4/12 for a 23-lap race at Jerez, trying to win it, just as the flying Fin did back in 1997 and eventually achieved his maiden GP win.
The McLaren MP 4/12 as well as this layout of the Jerez track are part of the base game.

In fact, in 99 Ferrari was actually faster so much so that it won the most important championship, the teams' championship, and Schumi just didn't win the drivers' championship because of his accident which took him out of some races! Great content!! These races in AMS2 are amazing!

Yeah, that's correct. Without his accident, Schumi would have had good chances to win that year. The Ferrari must have been pretty good considering the fact that even Irvine had had a title chance at some point.

Reliability also became Ferrari's biggest strength during that time. At least one of the McLarens was almost guaranteed to drop out during the race, or get outstmarted by Ross Brawn, or get hampered by Ron Dennis (usually Kryten Coulthard).
Nice race Timo! I think undercut strategy is pretty much a must for the player the way the tires wear out at the start. I feel the fuel load plays a big part in the first stint then tires last longer last half of races. Shame ai not smart about the pit stop under yellow.

You're welcome! Maybe you want to get in touch with the Custom AI creator? I noticed that the file has some wrong country codes and the "avoidance" skill values were missing altogether.

I am glad Lola gets included(compared to F1 World Grand Prix or F1 '97), a bit jarring though that I can notice that it doesn't quite fit the car shape as the Lola had a less pointy nose and it was also raised and not going upwards towards the cockpit.
Did you manage to get the helmets and suits for the McLarens and the Lolas to work right off the bat? I had to tinker with the files that direct the textures for both. The rest worked great without any issue

Yeah, no issues there. However, I edited the Custom AI XML file. It has some wrong country codes, and the "avoidance" values were missing.
Thx for video and links! What speed did you set up the tyre wear to make sure everyone stopped at least once?

AMS2 look amazing but still lack of tracks to complete F1 seasons, right?

That's right, yes. Full seasons on only original tracks are hardly possible.

That would be awesome one day. Hoping some DLC or mods will come to fill in the gaps.
We need tracks mod for AMS2.

@@chadlaker962 Hard to say from here. But a common mistake are not matching livery names in the livery XML and the Custom AI.
