I use the 27mm pancake with the X-Pro 3, and I have to say that the image quality and versatility of this combination is absolutely stunning. I‘m currently on vacation in Portugal, and it is the only camera I like taking everywhere.

❤ I do own the T2, T3, and H2 and can confirm the T3 is perfect for prints up to 90cm x 60cm / 😮36 x 24 inches.

I couldn’t stand the barrel distortion that the pancake provided and am much happier now after switching to a 35 f/2. It’s honestly very similar in size, still fits in my winter jacket pocket and has no barrel distortion

@@lordman65 I honestly haven‘t noticed any distortion with my copy, and since most Fuji-X cameras automatically correct lens distortion, I need to say that I am very happy with my gear. Lightroom does a great job too there. I only have to do my regular stuff, l like contrast etc.

I usually go with the 27mm pancake as well on my X-T5. I only wish the motors were better. It's almost impossible to keep it at continuous focus. But a very nice format and good image quality!

@@guillandanthony711 lightroom fixes it to a point, but not completely for my eye at least. it’s a great lens, yet when not-working I like to take my photos as jpegs and transfer them to my phone instead of pc, so no lightroom adjustments are made. I also strongly believe it’s because of the fact it’s a pancake, there’s just too little glass for it to not have distortion
Always a treat when you talk about something.
Nice video Roman. And thanks for giving the real focal lengths of the lenses and not just the FF equivalent FoVs. It helps a lot of viewers who have only ever shot on aps-c.
I have learned a lot from your videos, and your Fuji camera guides have proven ideal in setting up a system. Cheers for 2024.
Really liking the direction of videos + blogs you are taking now, wish is going well. Happy new year!!
Happy New Year. Look forward to watching next year. Whatever format you choose is good. 👍
I like this more casual format. Well done, and a good new year to you.
I've only recently begun to really appreciate the amount of time and effort it takes to produce these videos; so, thank you for sharing. I wish you the very best for 2024 and I look forward to more of your adventures. Cheers from across the big pond in Nova Scotia, Canada.🙏
My one and done - XF 35mm f/1.4. Sold off my kit lens, and this is the only one ive been using. Its been challenging using a fixed focal length but rewarding!!
Same lenses on XT3 here. More versatile than I thought. Light and compact. And no fear when it starts raining. Great video, Roman. No polish, no bs. Like and appreciate that. I missed catching up with you in Nuremberg. Maybe next time.
Beginner here! So mine is just a XT30ii, 35mm f2 lens, extra battery, sd card and my S23 ultra as backup. With an everyday carry hellolulu sling, nothing fancy with that. The film camera i worked with previously was a 50mm full frame, hence the choice of the 35mm prime. I am learning to work with what i have first, before actually upgrading or buying more fancy stuff. Would love to try an X-pro next.. Love your content btw!

Good luck. That gear sounds perfect to learn photography with. Nothing stopping that combo from taking AAA quality photos. Don't do what I did and get obsessed with gear acquisition!
Thank you for another great year of content! I really like these style Videos quiet a lot
Really enjoyable and helpful video. Keep it up! Happy New Year to you.!
Really like the new format, works for me. Keep up the good work mate
Great video! I always like to travel light, so your minimal kit gave me a lot of ideas that I will try on my own adventures.
Your XT5 ebook is awesome!!! Well worth the money…another great video..Happy New Year!!
Thanks Roman, nice as always!!
Handy video, Roman! Happy New Year!
My go to fujifilm combo is the Fuji X-T5 and the 18mm F2 paired with the new 33mm F1.4. Those two cover my needs very well.
My fave minimal kit is either Xt20 or Xt2 with 18-55 and 23f2. Had Xt5 for a while but somehow didn’t love using it as much as earlier models so sold it.
For travel, XT-5 using 16mm & 50mm, the digital zoom is used as & when. For super compact, my XT-30 + 27mm pancake lens is great. 12:41
X-T30ii & 50mm f2, and an S23+ as backup. Thanks for all the videos you've shared this year and happy 2024!🎉
Love this format. Feels like I'm with you on your adventures, so this point of view is more interesting. And the few mistakes, add authenticity. Looking forward to more videos like this. When trying to take pictures of people, do you feel comfortable with shorter focal lengths, or do you go for longer ones?
Thanks for sharing Roman!! Always enjoy your perspectives and appreciate your considered opinions about gear and your process for ending up where you end up! I am enjoying my XT-4 a lot, along with a 27mm f2.8, and a 16mm f1.4. I have 2 zoom lenses that are both Fuji also: 16-80mm f4 and 70-300mm (forget the f stop range). I usually only take 1 lens out shooting and leave the rest at home. Sometimes I just take my X100F. Cheers!😊
Interesting video Roman. It depends on the city or travel type... I prefer mainly two kits: xt5 + xf18f1.4+xf33f1.4 or xt5+sigma 18 50f2.8 +xf33f1.4. Sometimes only xf33f1.4. I used xf35f2 in the past and it is a great tiny lens but I prefer to keep shots under 1600 isos under low light and have the consistent border resolution of xf33.
Loving these types of videos from you as well, very light and interesting, getting a sneak peek into your workflow and tips!
Like the video style, you’ve got a natural way to talk to the camera, warts and all
As always, Roman, this is a great video. I really like your no-nonsense style. I am glad to hear about the Osmo Pocket 3. Keep up the good work!
Great video as always mate, I'm a big fan of Smallrig accessories, they do some awesome gear 😉
For everyday carry i take my x100v with the tcl converter as a backup. Thank you for this Video 😊 have a nice start in 2024
The X100V, the X-T4 + 56mm f/1.2 R, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and an iPhone 13 Pro for me. But Roman's combination is really hard to beat. Thanks for this video and happy new year!
Love the format Roman ❤️👍
Still in love with my XT20 and the 18mm f2 in combination with he 50mm f2. The 50 mm blows my mind, every time I use it for portraits. It's one tof the best portrait lenses and the most overlooked lens by a lot of people.

yes the 50mm is super good and perfect at what it does. I regret selling mine and am considering buying it again. The 56mm is just a bit bulky and the autofocus has nothing on the 50mm. I'm also curious how it pairs with one of the fuji extension tubes (with autofocus), because it might make a fantastic macro too...

Almost the same, I have the XT20 and a 56mm 1.2, it is just amazing what rolls out of that pretty small package.
Great videos. Right to the content, with lots of information.
Nice video. I like this approach to your videos!
Got a xt30 with the "kit" 18-55. Since almost day 1 I realized tha 80% of my photos were above 40 mm, and since I love low light photography I was thinking about a 50mm prime. However, on a recent trip to germany, my absolute favourite photo was taken at 19 mm from a tight metro staircase, and only because I could quickly pull back to that focal lenght. Similar story for another of my favourites that I took at 25 mm. So, i can't really bring myself to give up the versatility of a zoom lens, and I'm not sure when I will 😂
Liked this video a lot. The ‘new format’ is accessible and charming. Another sunny day in London! We’ve been having same in New York CIty and Boston, Massachusetts! The DJI and the magnetic lens cap are a great idea. And everyone loves the iPhone 15. But you give it the stamp of credibility. Thank you and Happy New Year!

As much as I want to return to your neck of the woods, not in the winter lol. Hoping in the summer tho
It looks like a fun little kit. For me it comes down to what mood I am in. A Leica Q3 is always fun to take and then just crop for things up to around 75mm. A Sony RX100 VI is great if you just want a capable camera that can fit in a pocket and give you usable shots in normal light. I will say that I am not a fan of carrying multiple primes (because I often feel I have the wrong lens in and miss a moment), but I do have a full frame with 35mm, 55mm and 85mm if I want to choose one. For that weight though I would probably just go for my 24-70 F2.8 or the ultimate travel cheat of a super zoom (but of course that has other limitations you have to work around) - this is definitely more conspicuous though…
my minimalistic kit is now with my XT5 plus 27mm f/2.8 r wr. Sometimes I use my voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 nokton classic too
Happy new year Roman. I have just ordered 50mm f2 Xmas eve in my local camera shop to go with 23 f2 & 35mm f2 for my XPro 2. This is my lightweight day kit. At a later date might add 18 f2 to this bag. I just love size & weight of these lens. I’ve different bags with different cameras & lens in each so I just grab for the occasion. GAS problem 😂😂
wow dude I subscribed to you when you had like 1.2k subs and look where you're at!! insane man, happy for you!
Much better this type of videos. All the best for 2024!
Great video. Those are brilliant lens cap & tripod finds! For phones only, check out the credit card sized pocket tripod! For me, right now it's just my pockets with a GR-IIIx and an old Nikon P&S for 24mm, and a little magnetic CPL filter but I also hacked the Nisi system for Fuji to attach magnetically if I want to carry a GND filter. If I'm not feeling pocket happy it's the xt30ii with the 27 and a little lowepro bag or hex mini bag, and a combined GND/CPL filter. I think the x-t5 is one of the most versatile cameras out there - if I weren't mostly using pockets these days, I'd have kept that for sure.
Nice setup. My vote would be for the new Fujifilm S20 with the kit zoom lens for a compact still and video imaging kit👍. Thanks for sharing your street and travel photography adventures.
Nice work, Happy New Year !
Great setup. I really like using a USB-C adapter to import to my phone also. Its simpler than the app. Especially for older cameras.
Excellent video 😊!
lovely minimal kit you've got there 🙂 have a very HNY mate
Hey Roman, thx for the next awesome vid. I am following you since you had around ~20k subs and its cool seeing your channel and your photography grow :) I started watching you when I picked up my 1st Fuji cam 3 years ago and you helped me a lot! I still use 'your' camera settings. I got a question about the kit- how do you prevent condensation inside your lenses with this kit? Will putting your camera in a plastic bag before going inside on a cold day be enough? I'd appreciate a short about handling your equipment in conditions close to 0 degrees :)
I have 2 kits. A X-E3 with the 16 2.8, 23 2.0, 35 2.0 for street. Then I have the X-H2 with the Viltrox 13 1.4, 16-55 2.8, 50 1.0 and a 70-300 for landscape and portraits and sometimes on weekends for travel but depends on how much weigh I want to carry. I can make a mix of these for travel. I also have the 18-55 if I want to take the X-E3 for a spin but don’t want to carry only primes. And yes. I have too much stuff.
I can echo your recommendation. Also own the 23 and 50 f2 versions next to the new 23 and 33 as well as the Viltrox 75. Used them mainly on my XPro3 when I had it - now using the XH2S but mainly with the big lenses and also the battery grip on events. The XT5 seems to be excellent - I am waiting for the next xpro camera to complete my kit again 😅
Love it!

Thanks for the video mate, love those magnetic lens caps, I too hate the normal caps, they are a pain.
Great set up. Like the real time video work…
Hi Roman Thank you for your tips Just purchased an X-t 30ii Would you recommend it for street and travel photography even without ibis? Have a wonderful new year
Great video and quite impressed with the DJI Osmo. How do you feel it's quality is vs using the X-T5 video on a trip? Would it be worth having the Osmo in addition to the onboard video of the X-T5 or do you prefer keeping the X-T5 on photo mode and use the Osmo as you suggested, pointing it forward and running it while taking photos at the same time? How practical is that? I took the inst360, GoPro 11 and my X-T5 on my last vacation and found it cumbersome to juggle using one, then the other, etc. Comments?
Snap, as regards the XT5 and 23 F2. Mind you if I am off to York (nearest big place) I will take the 16/80 with me. Impressed with the Osmo. All the best for 2024.
Like the vlogging style 👍🏼
My go to camera is the canon r8 with the 28 2.8 rf pan…in the pocket the 50 1.8 and 16 2.8 so tiny and no weight. AF and lowlight is much better then the fujis I used before. Fuji is a stylishly camera but id love the workhorse canon r8.
X-E3 with the 18f2 and 35f1.4 has been my "tiny kit." I miss not having the control layout of my X-T2 but after awhile the baby camera grows with you. It's the silver version and has a cool vibe to it, people think I'm a harmless old geezer with a film camera. I've been using Auto ISO and just trusting it lately. No issues. The 18f2 gets a really bad rap but I've been pleasantly surprised by it. A bit of cropping and the "soft in the corner" issue goes away, not that it's all that much of a problem anyway. Worth it to have the small form factor.
Recently went to Lisbon with my Voigtlander Bessa R2a loaded with Portra 160 Voigtlander 35 1.4 II and 50mm 1.5 II Nokton Nikon ZF with the M to Z adapter But found I ended up using the 3x lens on the iPhone a lot to get interesting compression
I once had three of the little „Fujicrons“ for a trip. Until I realized they together have about the same weight like the 16-55 mm. So now this is my „minimal travel kit“, just the X-T5 with the 16-55mm. And now with third party AF lenses there are even smaller / lighter alternatives out there…
Love these videos, really useful. I’m an XT3 user - in my 60’s and still learning it - and bought your user guide for the camera. For anyone thinking of purchasing one of these guides….stop thinking and just BUY IT! Fantastic and genuinely helpful. A quick question Roman. I notice you don’t put the fairly (in my opinion) useless Fuji lens hood on these lenses, unless I’ve missed seeing them here. I’m always undecided if there’s any point? I have the 35mm f2 prime. What do you think? I can’t really see any benefit, the hood being more like a ‘lip’ 😀 Really enjoy the videos.
X-Pro3 with the OG 35mm F1.4 is my main go to, but I switch to the 50 F2 when I need faster AF. Those are the only two lenses I've used for the past year.
Today took the X100 og for a walk and fed the ducks some leftover bread. They were greatfull (or at least hungry). The X100 series is such a nice concept.
XT20, XT30, XE3 and XE4 are perfect and more minimal. And indeed, a good smartphone is a great add on.
Lovely set up! I'm still trying to find the 27 f2.8 to go with my Fujifilm xt5 to see if it's any good. I love the 40mm focal length, but the lens is quite expensive for what it is. I also always bring the Fuji EF-X8 flash with me, it's a great little flash to use for taking photos of your friends at nighttime! Great video, looking forward to your travels in 2024!

I’ve also been on the hunt for the 27mm for my XT-3. They’re so hard to find for a good price!
I have the 35mm f.2 and just got the 18mm f1.4 and now you are recommending the 23mm and 50mm as a kit which makes me a bit anxious 😅 Hope I didn’t make the wrong choice.
From XT20 & X70 to Xpro1 & Xpro3 with a few lenses, now down to only X100v. Less things to worry about, more photography
Roman, what is your settings on your DJI pocket when vlogging? Thank you.
Hi there. Been contemplating to own a Fujifilm camera for its film simulations. Initially interested in getting X-T5 and watched a lot of your videos and they were all great. Then decided to get something simpler so decided to settle for x100vi. But then my pre-order seems to be perpetually going to be a long wait. So I cancelled it & plunged the refund into buying the exact combo you suggested. An X-T5 And XF 23mm F2. Now would a 27mm and a 16/18 mm would be okay for my next lens. I like to shoot wide. Just want to have a light minimalist package.
Happy New Year from a fellow XT-5 user. Looking for to what you have to offer in 2024.
I agree on your lens choice but really keep simple Fuji x100f is my choice

Wonderful film Rome, really appreciating this video having read your blog on the same topic a few days ago. Great to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak. I'm guessing you'd go with the X-T5 over the X-H2 due to size and weight for days like this? I remember you saying previously you preferred the build quality and useability of the X-H2/X-H2S. (love the jacket colour too, it really pops on video - what make is it? I'm intrigued!)

As a beginner amateur would it be worth investing into an x-t5 over the x-s20 or x-t50? I know it's weather sealed, but also fairly larger and slightly more expensive. 😅
Is there a reason you use the Apple USB-C SD adaptor? Is it better than i.e Sandisks own?
I’m in Canada, and for street, 28-35mm is typically too wide, I often shoot at 50, 85mm. Is there a good f2 compact Fuji lens in that range. I typically use my tiny 45mm on Olympus (ff85eq)
Fujifilm X-T1 with XC 15-45 IOIS. Best light and small kit.
Hi Roman, at what aperture do you usually shoot with the XF23mm f2? I heard you need to stop it to at least f4 to get a sharp image....but was wondering your thoughts!
@duschbrauser
5 ай бұрын
This is only necessary when you shoot at minimal focus distance. For regular shots F2 is already very sharp. If you shoot at 5.6 this lens super sharp, but not in a clinical way. It has great micro contrast which makes the photo look 3D. I much prefer it over the 35mm F2.
Are you updating the X100V guide for VI users? There are a few more advanced features that would be useful to cover - IBIS, best video format (6k), FLog, etc.

Thanks for the video! I currently have a Sony A1, but looking to do street photography after binge watching your street videos. I am looking at getting a smaller cheaper camera for this purpose and leave my Sony at home (due to weight and the risk of being a target when out at night). I like the Fuji cameras however they are out of my price range unless you know which one would be around the £400 mark. I have been looking at Olympus, especially the OMD EM5 mk 2. It's fairly cheap and the lens choice is also very good and economical. Due to its age, it is only a 16mp camera, but would you consider this an ok camera for general street photography? Keep up the good work :)
