The BEST Macro lens for Micro Four Thirds: Olympus 60mm 2.8
In this video I took my Olympus E-M1 Mark 2 and the Olympus 60mm ƒ2.8 macro lens to my local woodland to have a go at macro photography.... I'm not very good at macro photography.

I LOVE my Olympus 60mm macro. I shoot on Lumix bodies, and the lens is equally good on Panasonic cameras. It is so darn sharp and always produces such beautiful images that I think people often fail to appreciate this lens as a general purpose lens in addition to its macro qualities. But it is not perfect. The lens design is old, and it struggles with AF in lower light/lower contrast situations, and macro subjects are often like that, tiny flowers and insects in undergrowth with leafy backgrounds. Newer lens designs handle those kinds of light noticeably better. I have also have the Leica 45 macro and Lumix 30 macro and each has their uses, but the 30, being a newer design is much better then the Olympus 60 with AF in difficult light, but I still prefer using the 60. I have a feeling that it would be the OM 90mm macro that would be the best MFT macro, but I can't afford that one yet.
Great photos and getting right into the action/water. Love the 60mm macro, I use this on still subjects and use in body focus stacking.
When it comes to macro, my easy go to camera is my 10 year old Fujifilm X20. It has a fixed zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent 28-112 f2-f2.8. In super macro it will focus down to 1cm. And it’s fun and a joy to use😀👍📸
Mate, your creative is inspiring. Some amazing photos and a great watch that makes you want to get your wellies on.
The Olympus 60mm Macro is a wonderful lens, I really love shooting with it. Great images, especially the ladybug :)
Enjoyed exploring!👍👍
Spring time! Bring it on.
Another great video Chris.
That thing is always in my bag. When frogs, lizards, snakes, and bugs are out, I forget birds exist (although, yes, I love birds). That 60mm is special.
Great inspiration, I see that I have to visit the local forest again by myself
I stumbled on your channel while I was looking at reviews and usage of the Sigma 105 Macro and have stayed for your relaxing, informative, and beautifully filmed videos.
Hi Chris, it is stunning how good KZread is with hiding smaller channels like yours and mine 😆 I never stumbled over your channel before. What a shame. But definitely great stuff! I also liked really this video here. Your image at ~4:19 is amazing. Wow, just awesome! Keep up the good work and nice greetings, Christian

Thanks Christian. KZread is good fun at times but frustrating in other ways. I think smaller channels like ours can be full of great content, it’s just a shame they never get shown!
Roll on Spring!
Very nice framing on all of these shots!📷📷📷👍
Top work Chris, thank you for posting 👍

Glad you enjoyed it John. Not my strong point this but was fun to do.
The 60mm is an amazing lens and i love doing a bug shoot now and again spring into summer. Your shots were lovely
This is good to know, cuz I've been looking into it and the 60mm is a fraction of the price of the 90mm. 😄 (Although here in the irish climate I prefer to have everything weather sealed, even when I'm not sticking my camera in a pond...) Great photos. I especially liked the first, the grass emerging fron the water.

Yeah over here weather sealing is a must too. Although you guys over the sea tend to get battered by the weather before we get it! Can’t imagine how wet it gets 😣
Wait What in camera Tracking is that what you said , Where do I find this ??
Great vid Chris :)
I love the 60mm macro. Then the 90 came out…*chef’s kiss*
I've been using the 90mm pro. It's been many years since i tried the 60mm. I kinda wish i had the 60 mm because the handling is easier, lol Great photos, man
could i ask what shutter rate are you using on these photos please ?
Excellent work Chris, what model is your tripod

That’s my old Manfrotto Element travel tripod with the centre column removed. Works a treat for getting low down!

It is the best macro lens. That is until you try the 90mm
