@@Validboy He wasn't mean without any reason, he was simply pissed that he had to pay the original bowl more then needed just because of the packaging and delivery and still had to go and retire it in the shop. Then THEY sent it for error and expected him to buy something he didn't ask for (as if he needed a second) or to pay again for the delivery price needed to send it back. At that point he could have almost bought a second bowl with all the delivery fees he would have paid. His joke aside he did say that he would return it to the shop if the delivery cost was repayed back. I think the owner refused because he thought the guy wanted to scam them the delivery money and not return the bowl, which is understandable because if he wanted to keep it there would have been no proof that the bowl he had wasn't the one he paid for online and involving lawyers for a bowl would be ridicoulous and more expensive compared to a single bowl.
It was literally joyous to see Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey and all the other comics totally fascinated to see what was coming next in his e-mails. This gave me the feeling that his humour is completely unprecedented in British comedy and _that_ is genuinely priceless.

"keep the bowl and keep the change" british humor is on a different level entirely :D
Joe reminds me of my Mother. She wrote some pretty choice letters to companies over various issues. The most famous was when she wrote to Tampax over an issue with some tampons she had bought where each one failed to contain the requisite string. Her letter included the line (paraphrasing as my memory is not that damn good :-) ) "I have recently tried your cordless model and have found it wanting. Please provide a similar box to the one I have bought in recompense." Tampax sent my Mom 10 boxes in recompense along with a very nice letter. Sometimes, providing ingenious feedback pays off. Only the first email was sent while drunk and that happened at 3 a.m. Either he accidentally sent it from his work adress (big whoop) or he doesn't have a work adress (not his fault) so he has to use his private adress for work stuff and has the automated signature for ease of use. Imagine possibly even getting fired for one drunken attack on a comedian that you apologized for immediately.

@@DrZaius3141 It actually is a big whoop, could almost be a fireable offence, depending on workplace guidelines, and especially at a solicitor's office. Also, he didn't apologize until he was called on it. Maybe we shouldn't justify rude and unacceptable behaviour? Also, 'address'.

@@nemo-x It is unacceptable behaviour for a workplace email. It is a sackable offence. However, I do believe that Joe would have seriously crossed the line if he had sent it on to the employers. My fav Joe story was he went to the PO to check his Passport application. They said there is an error you need to start again - you put neigbour for witness. Joe said it is clear I meant neighbour. The clerk said no and said he needs to start again and pay a new fee when he comes back. Joe said sorry that should be doctor. The clerk said - it clearly says neighbour. Joe pulled a mocking face and said loudly - yes!
