The Best Integra Type R Honda Made | Episode 15 | Driving RHD DC5 In Japan
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In today's episode I'd like to discuss which Integra was the best, specifically which Type R. While I was in Japan this time I was able to rent a DC5 Type R and drive it around Japan for a few days. I actually drove it all the way from Tokyo to Nagoya so I spent a lot of time in this car. The big thing I wanted to see was how it compared to the older models and if it continued the and was worth the Integra name. In January when I was in Japan for TAS I rented a FD2 Civic (Type R) and although he drove great found the newer model was missing some of that connection to the road. As you'll see the DC5 performed and felt good with just that hint of numbness that the newer cars all seem to have compared to the previous gen DC2 a car I really enjoyed driving. I had a great time in the car driving it around Japan and through some of my favorite touge roads. Let me know what you think, Is the DC5 a worthy continuation of the Integra and Type R name and which do you prefer the DC5 or DC2.
Enjoy!!

the front McPherson suspension is what ruined it for the DC5. If it kept the front double wishbone like the DC2 and even CL7/9. Woooo!!! it be the best. Sadly that's not the case. It's my fav Integra though. Love the looks and the fact that it is an underdog just like the R33 in the GTR family.
DC2 for me

I enjoyed the car. It drove really good 😎
I'll say say this much...... the DC5 is the last of the Honda's that still had everything 'right'. Not no ugly random slash mark designs for no rhyme or reason other than to look futuristic or 'aggressive' like their cars of today, and with their profiles (New Type R's) looking like a damn bottlenose dolphin with ugly 'flow' to them. You know what I'm talking about. Them late 90's and early 00's just had it right in every which angle you look at the car. If you know, you know.

This is also how I feel about the 90s vs new cars. I find that the newer cars also feel like they've lost that connection between the driver and road

You sage and philosopher
as someone whos owned both. If you track hard, weekend only car or have extremly high tolerence for the "RAW" feel DC2 If you want to daily this car, is your only car or what something more refinded DC5

It's funny and true. Exactly why I picked up the DC5 on the day I needed to drive 8hrs between Tokyo and Nagoya In the end I always sway towards the more track prepped/feel which is why I like the dc2 better.
THE BEAT IS CRAZY

I feel the same 😎😎
It’s hard to beat the DC2R. It’s the FWD goat by virtue of old school light weight raw tin can driving experience coupled with a high strung NA motor with 195HP. Great steering feel, 2500-2600lb, LSD etc. DC5R lost the great suspension geometry, got heavier and refined and lost the clean and straight looks.

"raw tin can driving". that's awesome!! and agree that the combination of light weight and mechanical connection to the car and road really make the DC2R fun.
i love a good dc5r
