Maybe someone has already asked you this, because I buy the already prepared yellow masa, and we add lard and mix it. My problem Is if I don’t use enough lard it’s dry and when I use to much it’s sticky so I can’t find the balance. Does the ice help with that because a lot of my Mexican friends who come teach me have never used ice and I’ve never even heard of using ice. I was gonna make it for the new year but I have leukemia and I’ve been so sick, but I’m gonna make it. So any tips would be so useful to my sick behind! Thank you Jenny!

Question: Why the Baking Powder? I use the Masa Preparada as well but usually only add in salt and lard (Sometimes I will add in the chili mix) but I am so curious about the baking powder. TY

The baking powder helps the masa inflate, same reaction as when you use it on cake/or cookie batter when baking.

The masa looks good I'm concerned it's not enough lard? Just a 1/3 of a cup for 7lbs?
How do you make the Maza like red or with broth? Do you just add while doing that process?

I will usually add the chili mix to the masa to make it red...but that’s the way I was taught. 😊

what cheese do you like to use for tamales de rajas y queso? My mom usually uses chihuahua! Orrrrr in other words do you have any tips so that the cheese won’t gush out so much 😅

How many tamales does 7 lbs yield?
Jenny, I usually buy 6 pounds of masa and a 3 to 4 pound pork butt so buying 7 pounds I'd likely have left over, can it be frozen or can I make something else with it???

I have frozen my masa and used for sopas with no problems.
How come my tamale masa looks like it has air hole's in it?
So you don’t make the masa? You just add to. I don’t have already done masa in my area😢
