Hi everyone, today i want to buy a solid pair of headphones, i hesitate between Focal Bathys or those one (dan clark’s aeon 2). But with aeon 2 you need a dac (amp). Am i good enough with a dragonfly cobalt to drive the aeon 2? In fact, i don’t want a big amp to drive the headphones, i want a portable dac that can drive the aeon 2 if possible. Most importantly, i want the best sound possible. If anyone can help me :)

I have the senheiser hd 6xx and these. Best way i can describe the experience is on some songs it sounds like you're at a live performance while the senheiser hd 6xx sound like ur hearing it from another room. They don't sound great with every genre. I returned these.

I have a very similar setup (better amp and DAC but same headphones). They are truly phenomenal, and if you get things used, you can spend a grand to get it

I will have to check these out!!

One of my best friends is a music composer and has this aeon2 headphones. When he make me try it (in correct direction 😅) i had the same reaction, tears appears on my eyes, and i am sure I don't have the earing capability to fully appreciate every nuances of them. They are just incredible.

Sold my AEON’s due to lack of dynamics. I was listening to a lullaby whole time.

This hit too many average consumers, the comment section really out here complaining about things they know nothing about

if you read forum reviews on the internet, the biggest problem with these are that they are not considered dynamic headphones compared to Focals Clear and lower end Focals. Also there is a treble peak that some people finds it very uncomfortable. The white filter can alleviate that but at the cost of degraded resolution. So it's not the headphone nirvana that it's made out to be, even at that price bracket. Another issue is the assymetrical ear pads ie. one side is thicker than the other side. When clamped together for a long period of time, the thicker side will decompress more than the thinner side, leading to a deformed earpad over a period of time in just a few months.

These are VERY budget too!!!

I can confirm, they're are indeed special. The price is also very special... I would recommend finding something more accessible, 200$, 250$ will overall fullfil your needs. BUT, these are sharp and with a beautifully balanced bass... The first time I've used them I was double checking the songs to make sure I wasn't listening some altered versions 😂 Silly me, truly pinnacle goodness. If you can, get them!

Love your content man. Would love to see you review the Momentum 4s and compare them to the XM5s!!

They are easily one of the most comfortable headphones on the market. Unfortunately they're not as resolving as they should be for the price, kind of condensed sound stage, quite a bit of melding in the mid-bass and overall congested staging, can have an "artificial" almost metallic timbre especially with tracks with a lot of increased high end & mid treble exposing it, severely lacking dynamics, and anemic bass for closed back. The cable is not great either.

I just bought 660s2 and not digging the open back at all what's the allure? It makes you lose the low end. Do you not listen to bassy music?

How would these compare to a pair of ATH-M50x headphones? I've been using my same first pair since 2015 and they're still going strong, albeit I did the zip tie mod to reinforce the weakening hinges, but they still sound like the day I bought them. I'd rather spend $150 or so than $900 like people are saying these are. Is the price difference really worth it?

@@evshrug I wouldn't mind demoing them if i could but they don't seem to be much better in the treble. Still would use the hell out of an HD 800 if i were given one, lol. I should clarify that I've been very pessimistic on over ear headphones because of their physical limitations reproducing sound, so I've moved on to IEMs which are less bad at this. I still use the HD 598 while using my PC and playing VR, because sometimes comfort is more important than sound quality.

It better make me cry, arouse me, feed me and come with a TV for that price. That’s 2 Got Damn High😮

With any hobby, there’s always an iceberg. With headphones, mainstream is used to like $30-$50 plastic things at Best Buy, and splashing on a pair of Beats or a bit more on AirPods is as much about looking good as sounding good. But there’s a whole other world… $240 headphones that reveal things you never heard before in your favorite songs, and a purple-dragon-chase for “realism” that makes you feel like you’re at a private concert for prices in the thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars. Some of them look funny too… look up Stax, Abyss, RAAL… but also Fostex TH-900 and ZMF. It may seem expensive, but in the end it’s art… YOLO!

They are pretty good but for sound I prefer the dalio io 12 bt can they sound amazing and if you use them wired it's crazy good

DCA headphones sound limp and dead despite being tuned reasonably well, try some Focals.

@@ThisIsTechToday Fair, they're certainly not bad despite my choice of phrasing, and I absolutely adore the physical design and build of DCA headphones, but I would strongly recommend trying a Focal Clear Mg (Open) or Focal Celestee/Radiance (Closed) to experience the difference. There are other companies with a similar character to the sound as Focal (Some of ZMF's products, some Fostex driver headphones, etc), Focal is just the most widely accessible and, at least imo, best.

Mine are the 1more quad in ear earbuds & sennheiser momentum 4 . But they broke on me twice . (noise cancellation malfunction)
