Hi there. Is this Dac still good up to this day? And is it worth it to upgrade from Audioengine D1 Dac to this one? One more question, I always prefer using bookshelf speakers to headphones, will it be a waste when I only connect my speakers to the Dac?

Mine just arrived not too long ago, but for some reason I'm not able to change from "Esports" mode at all, the button just doesn't work. Although there's a pre-set with "Music" mode on it, and that works just fine. I'd love to try the "All around"/"Movie" mode, but it seems like I won't be able to with this GSX 1000.

Hey there, currently have GSX 1000 + HD 558 + Modmic. Love it, but been wondering about upgrading sound quality. Has anyone paired the GSX with the HD 660s? On paper they should work, but it would be great if someone could confirm this.

I run my GSX 1000 (24 bit/48hz) through a Schiit Magni 3. Paired with a Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro = multiple eargasms I'll be honest though. I have a difficult time deciding between stereo and 7.1. Some games seem better with stereo. Especially if they have sound options like Dolby Atmos (Overwatch). I wish I could use my motherboards audio aux input and run it through the GSX 1000 instead of strictly USB that way I can use features from Sonic Studio 3.

So I picked up a pair of senh HD560s to give them a try for my first open back fps gaming and music listening. I’ve been considering buying this amp to pair it with on my pc. Not sure if it’s going to be the right choice for two reasons. 1 I’m unsure if the hd560s are going to get enough power with this amp, and two : the game I play a lot is “Hunt:Showdown” it’s a fps games that’s mastered in stereo. And in that game sound is literally everything. So I’m not sure how the hd560s will do on the hd2.0 mode. Thoughts?

I believe those are 120ohm headphones so they should pair nice with this amp. You have multiple modes, and you could use this in stereo if you’d like.

@@baker8002 just got the gsx 1200 since it was $30 cheaper from GameStop for $200. Got it with the Sennheiser 560’s, sounds good but defiantly needs a separate amp, 99% volume is ok for some stuff but it wants more juice

The gsx is great even if you are still using stereo mode!

Dannielle Dela cruz This will work fine on a laptop as well. The 599s are a good match they will also work great. The modmic should work with the interface as well, I just don’t know how well it will work.

So I have a question, I have seen amps that are marketed for gamers and such like Astro and I do know that they work for consoles, but I was wondering if I could buy any other amp I want and use it on my consoles? Would they work? I do plan on buy one some time in the future but would like to know my options on what I'd use it on/for.

Hello I am having some trouble finding the best settings I just bought a gsp 600 and a 1200 x pro but I can’t find the best settings for FPs should I play 7.1 with e sports mode or 7.1 normal mode or stereo what settings do you guys use I don’t know what to rock.

I need some help, I've recently purchased HD58X and HD599 with GSX 1000. The problem I'm having is even at a volume setting at like 30 or 40 my ears start feeling like I was at a concert after gaming for a couple of hours and kinda hurt. Any recommendations on what I should do? I really don't want to return the headphones and go back to my Astro A40's but I also don't want to damage my hearing.

What option are you playing on, music mode?gaming mode? Do you have sensitive ears, bc I haven’t heard this issue with anyone. You might have to drop the volume to low 20s.

@@QGinHQ The only thing I have on is the 7.1, idk if I might have screwed my ears from the beginning and not realizing or what because I first had it upwards of 60 lvl. Not sure maybe if my ears just need rest for a couple of days or not or I'm just sensitive to the sennheiser headphone frequencies that I'm not used to hearing on my astro's. If I drop the lvl any lower it's gonna be hard for me to hear anything in game so not sure what I can do...

both sennheiser amps only work on PC and Mac. i own the sennheiser game zero headset and i just bought an astro mixamp pro tr to run it on my PS4. it works like a charm and i have read that that amp will do just the same with your hyperx alpha. Side note: if you decide to get the astro amp, dont freak out about the hissing at high volumes like i did lol in the amp's settings for the microphone is a thing called "side tone". turn that all the way down and you will never hear a hiss again.

I have a fiio ek10 and this is 170 dollars is there a better dac for this price or is there a better dac amp for this price range that I should be buying? I would mainly use this for gaming music and movies

It's late to answer, but yes, software HRTF in PUBG will mess/conflict with hardware HRTF in GSX1000/1200

Hey bro, question... Have you tried the 24bit 96khz option yet? It sounds unbelievable. It will disable 7.1 and lock your amp at "2.0 HD", but for me, playing BFV was a much better experience, best way to explain it is I could hear my gunshots cleaner and lock my aim much easier on enemies versus the 7.1 16bit setting. Let me know what you're using if you can.

@@Toolguns Schiit Magni 1 that still works good for me . They have the new one magni 3+ for like $100 . The amp gives more volume and more base .sounds great with this combo .

@@Toolguns u will see a difference u don’t have to crank it up all the way just a little more juice won’t hurt just not to much and u can always have it if u decide to get better headphone , leave gsx 1000 at 100% and lower it on the amp . Your headphones are 28 impedance so they can’t handle to much power just keep it low

Would I be able to hear myself talking? I hate not being able to hear myself while gaming with friends.

Twoface698 and headphone should work but nothing over 150 ohms that’s the max the amp can support without sounding bad. I strongly suggest an open back pair as well.

@@QGinHQ According to most people testing this, it can't even drive 150ohm properly. Get the g6 soundblaster instead, it can drive pretty much everything with similar sound quality and more settings. Supposedly the surround sound is slightly worse yet still quite good.

Just want to add a quick note. Antlion also have a USB Modmic which would not work through the GSX 1000. The USB modmic would plug into your pc.

Honestly I have this and the gsp600s on top of other headsets and sometimes games are still kind of quiet at 99 volume. This doesn’t sound that much better or different than my mobo. I feel like I’m doing something wrong. The headset gets louder on 7.1 but only if I put the sound behind me

@@-Made_in_USSR- я высокоомные не пробовал, у меня сенхи hd 599, слушаю на низкой громкости (чаще всего в диапазоне 08-25 ед). Михаил говорил, что до 150 Ом берут хорошо. Даже 300 могут, но уже появятся недочёты, как я понял. Склонен верить Михаилу. Проверить пока, к сожалению, нечем

Tigorski You don’t have to change any settings on your PC, just set the main audio to the gsx 1000 it will change whatever settings is needed through the amp.

Can someone explain why this amp doesn't have an optical input? Why not take in a raw signal?

This amp is targeted towards headsets. Its for gaming. If you want an optical input theres plenty of better options out there.

@@leadzeppelin440 Same for gsx 1000 which will not run most things properly. The g6 is the king in the virtual 7.1 dac area in my opinion, but the surround is slightly worse, but the power is far better and sound quality is about the same.

I am so confused about the location of your "set".

only problem with this is that Sidetone is very quiet, that's why I didn't buy one. :(

I was told that the 1200 had a microphone input volume toggle, Where the 1000 did not. Does anyone know if that’s true? And thanks

The only difference between the two is that the gsx 1200 can be linked up with other gsx 1200's for like esports competitions. No real point in getting the gsx 1200 if its more expensive.

Matt Thanks for the reply. I already bought the 1200 though. I thought I could turn my mic volume up and down independently from the volume. It doesn’t matter though I think I got it brand new for 150 bucks. They had a deal couple months back somewhere. So I really didn’t lose out on anything.

@@digloria77 ahh good, you should watch a guide on setting it up, or find a reddit post. The 1200 and 1000 have a chat wheel on the side im pretty sure, which you are meant to assign as default communication device. There should be two things showing up in the sound control panel. Im butchering it lol. There is a way to make it work, its made for pc.

Matt Yeah man, when you get yours, just go and make sure you set the device as your default audio. Make sure you’re not defaulting to headset. Make sure it’s the amplifier itself! Same with your mic. Also go and change it on the team speak settings, if you use that as well. I’m real happy with the purchase. Most headsets don’t get very loud for me. I’m hard of hearing. But this one gets really really loud even at just 50 or 60%! And yeah, there is a little wheel on both sides of it. It’s the turn the incoming microphone volume for the person to the left or right of you when you’re connecting to a group.

only difference is that if you have 2 or more GSX1200's in the same room, you can daisy chain them together so you can speak directly to each other instead of going through the game to chat. Other than that, the GSX1000 is identical.

Is the lower amp power of the GSX 1000 stopping you from buying it? Don't worry - This Story will make you happy.... I called Sennheiser about the GSX1000 and asked " Can you A. connect a second amp to the GSX 1000 and most importantly B. WILL YOU LOSE 7.1 SURROUND IN DOING SO? Question - part A was yes! The second answer was No! NO! No! YOU WILL NOT LOSE 7.1 SOUND IF YOU CONNECT A SECOND AMP TO THE GSX 1000! How did the Sennheiser employee know this? He didn't! So, he voluntarily went to PHYSICALLY FIND OUT! He came back with the good news after 18 minutes. HOWEVER... you must connect to the second amp by using the headphone out of the GSX 1000 via an adapter if you want to keep the 7.1 surround. He also mentioned there was no perceivable sound degradation or distortions. Peace Peeps!
