Fun fact I found while looking to see if there was, indeed, a gorilla attack in 1897. That year, the 🏳️‍🌈WhK🏳️‍⚧️ (Wissenschaftlich-humanitäres Komitee aka the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee) was founded in Berlin just days before Oscar Wilde was released from prison. This is the same WhK that was targeted in the first nazi book burnings. Happy Pride month.
