    I am planning on building a pc hopefully next year. Currently I’m playing on console on a 49 inch old monitor on my desk. It’s just too big and was thinking of going smaller. But since I’m planning on a new monitor do you recommend this monitor to use for my ps5 for the moment or should I wait and build the computer and buy the monitor last?

    With bfi feature you won't get the smoothness of 240hz, just 120hz but you do actually get the motion clarity of 240hz while only having to run the display and the game at 120hz. If you didn't know it yet, the motion clarity difference between 120hz and 240hz is actually pretty massive😅

    good video! two remarks I have, when reviewing a monitor make sure your color filtering of the final video is not off, something seems off on the video with gamma or contrast, which is making it hard to see if this is a good screen or not. And don't shine a big studio light on it permanently, especially not on an OLED. you don't really show it in dimmed lighting conditions, which is what most OLED users would have it at. :)

  • @SpuddGaming

    @SpuddGaming

    3 ай бұрын

    The studio light was only on for small portions of the video, mainly just the section talking about the reflections so that I could show it. Yes the colour correction on the video itself does affect things I will admit, and that’s partly due to the fact I edit the videos myself and I’m not as good at that as pro editors. I also didn’t show it in an overly dimmed condition as it was filmed during the day and my studio doesn’t really get that dark, even with the blinds closed. Not the perfect review for sure, but always room to develop and improve!

My QNIX2710 reflects only a black silhouette and this is how it needs to be. Do I need to give this one a miss? I have so far not found any images from the gamer's perspective showing if their own reflection is highly visible.

    Thanks man. I really enjoyed your overview here. It seemed more true and honest instead of more marketing-esque like other videos about this display. But, although I thought that I had settled and have accepted my LG 32" WOLED pre-order, I'm really starting to think that I might regret not going with a QD-OLED instead... I just wish that there was a place near me in the US that had the new QD-OLED monitors on display. But it seems that where I am located, there are zero stores within a 3 hour commute that have the dang things on display...which kinda sucks... My current 27" WOLED (that I just got) has a similar glossy finish. And while the semi-reflective coating doesn't bother me _too_ much, it is still a little annoying at times. However, I am still starting to get a little worried about the matte finish screen ruining my _new-to-OLED_ enjoyment. And since I pre-ordered the monitor directly from LG, I don't even know if it can be returned... I'm probably over-thinking this right now...

MSI also doesn’t support Dolby Vision HDR. Yes the ROG monitor has a KVM switch, I did forget to mention that in the video. And yes this monitor is fine for productivity, as I mention the text clarity is extremely good on this monitor as well as burn in protection features when using apps so this would also be fine for working

    it's not bad for esports, but 32 inches is just too big for an esports display and oled doesn't really have any backlight strobing options. Bfi is only available at 120hz and there are definitely quite some 280hz, 360hz, 540hz monitors with smaller size and backlight strobing which really takes motion clarity to another level. Not to mention 480hz oled (no backlight strobing) and both the asus 540hz and zowie 540hz with backlight strobing exists, so don't get this 4k 240hz display if you only care about esports games and competing lol😂

    I haven’t tried the monitor myself so can’t give a direct comparison, however from what I have heard, the current lower price on the MSI monitor is just an introductory offer in certain places. In the UK for example, most sites I’m seeing the pre-order price of the MSI is just £50 cheaper than the ROG

    Risk of burn in is non existant? But monitor came out month ago so, we wont actually know that now, since it happens after some time so maybe it shouldnt be just a given statement

  • @SpuddGaming

    I didn’t say it was, I said it pretty much is. With these newer generation OLED panels, the risk of burn in is way lower than it used to be thanks to both hardware and software advances, and that has been shown in other OLED monitors that came out over the last few months. It’s not just a statement, there is evidence to back it up

    @@SpuddGaming What do you mean by risk exactly? To my understanding burn in, or rather burn out in this case, is something that must happen to some extent eventually due to the pixels being "used up" over time.

  • @SpuddGaming

    @SpuddGaming

    @@DGneoseeker1 by burn in, what we are talking about it pixels displaying the same static image for long enough that the image eventually gets burned permanently into the screen, so no matter what you display, that logo or image or whatever it is will always be there. It was a big problem when OLED first emerged as a new technology but advancements like the ones mentioned in the video now mean that the likelihood of this happening has been reduced hugely

  • @DGneoseeker1

    @DGneoseeker1

    @@SpuddGaming Interesting... because elsewhere when people talked about "burn in" on an OLED they were specifically talking about the pixels getting worn out and losing brightness, causing weird looking patches to turn up on the screen. In other words actually "burn out". This is what all those fancy self repair features on the screens are for dealing with. I'm familiar with the "burn in" you just described and it's exactly what I recall being an issue on plasma screens. My understanding was that the "burn out" is a new issue with the OLED screens due to how their pixels function. I haven't heard about traditional burn in happening on OLEDs. Is that a problem as well?
