Hey man, congrats on getting your LX. I just brought mine back from Thailand after spending 600 bucks on one. I bought it because it had been completely overhauled at Harrow Technical in London. It was worth every penny. It is a camera you will quickly learn to love and appreciate. I got it with a rare 30mm Pentax lens and a winder.

I bought one of these in "not working" condition. Turned out that the rubber bumpers in the shutter release linkage had deteriorated and were preventing the the shutter from releasing. It was a relatively easy fix. I am impressed that Pentax cast the shutter dial in metal instead of just printing the numbers. It is undoubtedly the best film camera that Pentax ever made.

KX, MX, LX each iteration of the K mount had a masterful manual camera - yes the LX is not an A-series camera, but it is a wonderful tool that keeps going even when your batteries couldn’t. Again thanks for a great video.

The goodwill website is sometimes useful for buying unpopular cameras to take apart and tinker with. DO NOT think you are getting a functioning camera. DO NOT try to buy a popular camera unless you like paying $100+ for a broken AE-1 or K1K (K1000). DO NOT buy an electronic camera or a Polaroid unless you want to use it as decoration on a shelf. As someone who has bought an excessive number of cameras off goodwill, I can count the number of cameras that were usable out of the box on one hand. Only one camera with a focal plane shutter was within spec, and that was a canon EF with a completely corroded bottom end. I had to replace wires and solder wires back on battery contacts with that acid flux. If that's not something you're comfortable doing, maybe look at KEH. Not trying to gate keep anyone, I just don't want you to waste you money.

You would be wise to listen to this person. Don’t even think of dropping decent money on many of those lenses you see on SGW either, as they will undoubtedly be full of fungus, haze, and stuck oily aperture blades. Don’t ask how I know. It seems the only avenue left for SGW camera gear is strict bottom feeding of unhyped unpopular models/brands. And even then, don’t hold your breath.

Bought an LX about a year ago and still use it regularly. Just finished a roll 2 days ago for my best friends birthday. The mirror slap is a little sloppy sounding on mine, i might need to replace the upper foam when it flips up. I do wish it had an exposure-memory button, ive gotten used to using that on other cameras vs. trying to use the exposure comp dial. PS i find the "Grip B" quite helpful and also the eyecup model FT 30128 for the current "Pentax K-1" can slide into the LX. It looks a smidge out of place but i find that it helps.

This is my go-to camera and absolutely love it. My favourite feature is … that the shutter counter counts backward when rewinding the film.

A gorgeous camera. If I had to have a 35mm Pentax this is it !

I was craving one again some years ago. The pinnacle of manual focus cameras (along with the Nikon FM3A, I guess). But it just seems like they're really tough to repair and probably that means it's better suited to people with more disposable income.

Nice video on one of my most favorite Pentax cameras. I've repair and service a few as a DIY level and the inner bumper and magnet alignment is a pain, but common problem.

Sexy introoooooo. I have three LXs and one works perfectly. One of the others was a trusty friend for a year and a half. The third never worked and was a waste of money. My first and last forray into ebay as is. I've got a cute TTL flash for the working one. More LX content- I'm here for it!

Had one of these at some point shot one roll that turned out real nice. I then opened the camera to find it was infested with mold so I sold it for what I could get and cried a bit I didn't want to have to deal with it but maybe I could have kept it working. Also for you that are interested in Pentax the MZ-S is a really interesting camera and design to me probably the one camera I want but will never buy.

The only thing a little off on that camera: the strap lugs.

As for film 35mm cameras the LX would be my 1st choice not just from Pentax but overall.

Fairly new to your videos and like your content. Have watched several and would like to offer one suggestion…. Your constant hand movements are distracting, at least for me. This is not meant to be disrespectful and it’s only my opinion. Please don’t ban me. You make great content.

@@RompingBroncoI've owned 2, they were really smooth but the first one ended up failing electronically and the second one wanted to fail too lol That's why I chose the FM2.
