UPDATE: I have started using box lights again & as I suspected at 17:45 , the photos pretty much all edit successfully using Photoshop!

@@dfokkema1988 Try gimp. I don't do white BGs yet for ebay but it's image editing and texturing functions are pretty unrivaled, it's actually better for texturing than Photoshop imo.

Great job Samson! I am just trying to figure out selling on Ebay to liquidate all the stuff I have inherited from family. Figuring out how to shoot good shots is a challenge for me so thank for a very will developed video.

I don’t use white. You just blend in with every other listing. Same with black. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain for the most effective backdrop for your items, especially clothing items. JMO. Be your own boss. That’s the beauty of online selling.

Some camera apps and most cameras allow you to shift the color temperature so that it doesn't matter what light bulb you use!

Legend. Thank you so much. This is a very important video. Listen from minute 9 if you are in a rush, and if you use photoshop this will be an insane tool set to add up to your arsenal and it's crazy easy. I take snaps of glowing holographic pictures. Black background when i take the pictures with 2 lamps well placed (maybe :) ) and then photoshop will do the trick as smoothly as mentioned in the tutorials. Again thanks a lot Samson.

Just searched it, looks like the same thing to me.

Cant find "Corflute" anywhere, only A4 sized corrugated plastic on Amazon 😕

Always happy when you post a video...I'm NEED a better lighting system...I pretty much can't take pictures in evenings. My phone takes good pics but way too dark...maybe the light rings...🤔 it's been working well to take shoe pictures outside with the green grass background. Not what ebay really likes but the colors really pop! Love your content!👍

Do you know if Photoshop and Photoshop Elements (2018 is what I have) both have this ability? I have really struggled trying to figure out how do use the one that I have to accomplish what you just showed but I wrote everything down just now watching your video and I'm gonna go to my computer and see if my program can do it also!? With anything getting the processes like this as early in as you can is so important as avoid you going back and redoing/updating listings. Definitely recommend a large light box it's such a good investment & means you get the same exact photos without editing required. I can move house and have the same exact photo set up in under 5 minutes and there's no monthly subscription required

I do have one, I just found that I was unable to get that perfect white background without editing, so I stopped using it. Maybe I was doing it wrong?

@@SamsonTV I don't know if you're doing anything wrong per say but I've never had problems with mine giving me white backgrounds, however they're not as white as say the rest of the ebay page, It still looks very white, but in comparison the image is a shade or two darker. Is that important though? - Sites like ASOS & Nike don't have a pure shade of white but it is still white & looks professional. I suppose if you could also use a different shade of backdrop but I think that would prevent your listings from being shown via google shopping tabs. My box is only 60cm by 60cm though. They are 60W power & 21690LM Light strips at 5500K Colour temperature, also has a silk sheet cover on the ceiling of the box to soften the light. It cost around £55. Obviously if you've got a larger set up you'll need more light strips to prevent contrast. I'm no expert but I think if it's possible to perfect this set up you'll be saving a lot of time by removing a step from your listing process.

@@brookeneal1461 Yeah it does! I don't sell clothes though so I can't really point you to a product as I only use a 60cm x 60cm light box, for clothes you'll likely need a larger set up like a light tent. I've had a really good experience with it so far though

Even though they want you to have a white background I don't think this increases your sales with diehard ebay fans. Honestly I prefer buying unique items from people trying to make a little money from something they no longer need rather than a lifeless warehouse massive store. Usually that type of seller will not have a white background. Secondly one of the most profitable sellers I've ever seen is using a wood background. Thirdly I've seen my photos on google shopping without white backgrounds.

Recently eBay has added a remove background edit tool. It was first available by phone only. It is now being available to other computers in a new roll out.

Thanks! Honestly, I just allow totally white items to have less then perfect white background. Unless the item is very valuable, it is not worth my time to manually edit the background.

I love your ideals! Thanks. Only problem I have with lighting is shadows from my phone. Sometimes its really clear as day you can see the product but you can see my iPhone shadow too lol

Yeah make sure the room is well lit & if that is not enough, invest in some box lights (around $50 for a pair of them on eBay).

Do you have an opinion on type of light used? incandescent vs L.E.D? Kelvin rating, etc?

Go for a ring light LED I've heard that's recommended. 5000k

Solid information. I struggle with CDs and sports cards that are reflective. Meaning it is like a mirror and shows anything the it near it in the item. Example the back of the CD shows what is on the ceiling or on the wall in the picture. Hard to find a spot to take pictures in my apartment for these items. I don't have an extra room to just use for picture taking. Do you have any suggestions?

Try to list consistently, find what you enjoy selling & then learn all about it & get good at selling it!

Well there is a very very fast way that I didn’t know and found out today . You can buy A good quality camera connected to your PC and for small items just take snapshots immediately linked with the application without needing to upload them. I saw a friend of mine doing this so I will try it. Ask for shirts and clothes unfortunately I think you have to photograph them with your cell phone.

I have a Google phone and it automatically backs up my photos to Google Photos. That has saved me a ton of time!

If I take pictures at night in my apartment, how do I not get shadows in the picture? Thank you in advance for your help and insight.

Answer is lighting, lighting & more lighting. If you take photos during the day like me then you don't need box lights. In your case they are a necessity (2 minimum).

You’re good looking

It seems too much time to edit photos. Just use a photo box or a white sheet for a background.

Photoshop is between $10-15 p/m (less with a student discount etc.)

Mine look great until they're on eBay and then they become blurry.

My pics look fuzzy and not good like yours bro

Need either more light, a higher res camera, camera phone or a phone with a higher quality camera in every scenario, such as low light.
