To see the full written list of our picks for the best e-bikes, and each of their individual reviews visit:
electricbikereport.com/best-e...
Electric bike design is really hitting its stride, and if you need help picking out the right one for you then look no further than our list of the best electric bikes.
Our team of reviewers has collectively logged over 10,000 miles of testing over the last two years alone, and that's not counting all the personal miles we've racked up along the way too! We've tested models from all the best e-bike styles: cruisers, commuters, fat-tire e-bikes, and much more. Each bike is different and comes with its inherent strengths and tradeoffs, but rest assured, there is one out there that fits your needs.
With so many different variables in e-bikes from frame styles, motor type, features and more, it's important to consider YOUR personal criteria for finding the top e-bike for you. Make sure you consider carefully the following points:
What Features Do You Need?
We have no shortage of wants for a stellar electric bike, but in reality, there is usually a rather small number of e-bike needs. Comfort is always welcome, but do you need top-tier suspension if you're sticking to mostly paved roads? Nobody wants to be caught with a battery out of charge, but is the extra battery capacity really worth your extra cash if you're primarily going short distances? Make sure to balance out creature comforts with your intended use so you find the right value electric bike for you.
What E-Bike Style Fits You?
One of the great things about electric bikes is how the motor makes the frame style less crucial, but it's not something to overlook either. You can commute on almost anything, but do you really want to go offroading on a beach cruiser? The mighty fat tire e-bikes are fast, fun, and go most anywhere, but they can be heavier and harder to take on a bike rack. Make sure to get the full scope of how you'll mainly be riding so the design can fit your needs.
What Is Your Budget?
A bit of an obvious question, but important nonetheless. The market is flush with great bang-for-your-buck electric bikes and has no shortage of high-tech wizardry for a bit more cash too with a healthy-sized 'middle class' of electric bikes as well.
With great consideration to all the questions above, we've picked a collection of bikes that should be beneficial to everybody who is searching for their personal best electric bike. If there is anything you feel we are missing from this list, be sure to check the EBR website from the link above, and lets us know of other great e-bikes out there in the comments section.

you must include less categories for step through/folding/fat and more categories of performance oriented bikes aka lunacycle z1, frey and about 10 other well made full suspension bikes that are under 70lb without compromising battery life, suspension quality, price or power

Thanks Billy, we strive to be the very best at what we do! We will always keep getting better so we can better help consumers navigate the electric bike market.
Things you haven’t mentioned consistently are battery safety and service. All machines need service. Lubrication, ball bearings, suspension maintenance, etc. Regarding batteries, which ones are UL listed? For sure Specialized. Which others, if any. If not, be careful storing the bike inside. Who will repair it? Most local bike shops won’t touch an off brand e-bike. Even good bikes need maintenance. I just swapped and upgraded my drivetrain as the chain was shot. And the head tube had worked loose a little. Who will fix that? Even though these are cheap, you may be getting what you ask for! And what class? Class 1 is safe everywhere. 3 and motorcycle style might end up being restricted. And unfortunately you didn’t call out much on drive systems, esp mid-drive bikes. Hub drives are cheap, but probably not as durable as they have to spin as fast as the drive wheel is going. Mid drive can take advantage of the transmission, and perform well under massive loads.
Video is much appreciated especially when people are always asking me about what kind of ebikes to buy and I've told then about the Lectric if they were just going to ride for fun . So I can now direct them to this video for a wider range . Ever consider the Ariel Kepler and the Wired Freedom or Cruiser ? they are both around $2000 or lower right now .
I was happy to see the Ride 1Up 700 series make your list. I basically bought it for the reasons you list in your review. I've owned my Ride 1Up 700 XR for one year now and at almost 3000 miles, I am still impressed with it's power, range on a charge, and stability. It is a bit heavy, at 65 lbs. but that seems to be the tradeoff for this kind of performance and durability.

How does it ride off road?
Good job overall, glad you covered EBC warrantee. I shopped 12 years and kept coming back to EBC, with all the newer models. "before covid" I changed the cruiser bars to ole school Klunker bars to make it better for trails and hills of the Pocono Mts of pa. They also provided me with a more powerful controller and a set of gears at no extra cost. { the sign of a good company } I ended going with one of the larger battery on one of the original Model's the " X " Black with brown seat grips & Tires. Oh I almost forgot wooden chain guard, was a nice touch. they offer wooden fenders also. 🚲🍃
So glad that you finally mentioned the Himiway Cruiser ! I bought one almost 3 yrs. ago because @$1500 total this bike would get take me to 30 miles on throttle only at aprox. 28mph , since I have a lot of foot pain I can't peddle much and this is my only transportation . I haven't been disappointed at all in my purchase especially when other bikes that cost more give less . If I had to do it all over again I most certainly would do it . I've just purchased a Wired Cruiser as it's been advertised to exceed 38mph and can travel up to 36 miles on just lightly peddling for $2,162 which includes shipping . My Himiway will be for shopping trips and cold weather since I have a dual battery setup and the Wired Cruiser will be for just getting out and ridding .

I agree, I also have a Himiway they as a company have really have been expanding their reach into the e bike marketplace by developing their dealership network. They still have some work to do on their aftersale support system by setting up warehouses of replacement parts to speed repairs.

I'm not that impressed by the himiway. I have had the kick stand fall off more than once along with bolts for the rear rack. The brakes are ok. I've spent money on the bike to improve the weakness of it to make it much better. Upgraded the brakes to hydraulic makes it better.
I was so happy to see the Electric Bike Company on the top 13 list. I purchased their Model E about a year ago and it’s an awesome quality bike that’s built to last. Their customer service is superb and yes, as mentioned in the review, their customization options and warranty is absolutely unbeatable and have many models to choose from and stand behind their product 100%. The cherry on top for me was that they are manufactured domestically in California, unlike the majority of E-bikes that seem to come from China. In my opinion Electric Bike Company is definitely worth serious consideration.

I agree these are nice bikes, but the are not manufactured in California, they are assembled in California from offshore components. Also they seem to be very generic in their design with nothing special other than their paint jobs.
@mmanjin
Жыл бұрын
@@ActivityPhoto Although some parts of the bike are sourced from other countries other parts of the bike such as fenders and wheels are manufactured in California. However, the point is it's skilled American labor that designs and is putting these bikes together and not offshore labor that is often subpar, so the build quality of these bikes is excellent. In terms of design it is anything but generic especially given the number of models and amount of customization available and it's not just paint colors either. Speaking of colors, Chinese made bikes mostly come in one or two colors, which is black or white and maybe a couple of other colors. If you want a different or custom color forget it. Or maybe you want the fenders a different color from the rest of the bike. Ain't gonna happen. Or maybe you want a different brand of tire on the bike. Again, ain't gonna happen. Now that's generic and boring. Many companies offer strikingly similar models (with different graphics and slightly tweaked component mixes) that come out of one or two factories in China. Not very many offer anything unique. With Electric Bike Company you can make your bike truly unique to suit you. More companies should follow Electric Bike Company's lead and bring jobs back to the USA and support their local community.

And, if you belong to Costco a ~$600 discount over direct from company website. I love mine and was convinced on test ride from mega bike enthusiast friend. I imagine you can’t straight out advertise the lower price at. OST o but even still, it easily competes with the Specialized Vado.
My girlfriend bought the Pace 500 two years ago and she LOVES it. I've been on it and with me being 210lbs I'm surprised at how much torque it has. You can go into the settings and crank this bike up to a 32mph top speed. It's honestly a beast!

Thank you so much for doing this video! Fortunately, the 2 bikes I had narrowed my search down to were included in your Top 13...the Aventon Aventure 2, and MokWheel Basalt. Before I make my purchase, are there any differences in performance, speed, or on the quality of components included in each? As I understand it, the MokWheel can be programmed to a top speed higher than the 28 mph of most other e-bikes. Not sure I will actually go faster than 28 mph, but it's nice to have it available. Anyway, again thank you so much for a very informative video!!
Really enjoyed the video . I really like my e 3 explorer Gaint with 400 watt battery and narrow puncture resistance continental tires . They do very good on and off pavement and are more stable then the factory mountain bike tires. I really enjoy my gaint bike going up hills and on ski area service roads. I have had a lectric 2.0 it does good but I did not like how i had to go full speed or drop to a lower gear and put a lot more effort in to peddling. The Gaint is my favorite because I can peddle In The gear I choose and at my pace and enjoy the ride😊
I purchased an Adventon Adventure 2 recently based off the features and price point compared to the competition. I haven't ridden in 25 years since I started driving and It's been great. I added a Thudbuster LT suspension seat post that was a great investment for my lower back. It doesn't quite get the attention of my e-scooter but everybody seems to love it. If it had front turn signals it would be pretty close to perfect. Oh well, it's still a ton of fun.
Great video. Really helps the shopper. The two bikes I've been considering made the list and one more I'll have to check out. Quick question: do you receive any sponsorship from any of these manufactures? Other videos I've watch do a disclaimer. Just wondering. Thank you!
Man, I'd watch a 2 hour video on the best ebikes, no kidding. Would save me countless hours hunting through YT watching a ton of crappy videos.
This is an AWESOME video...nice job guys/gal! Thank for ALL of this information, it truly helps me in my decision making process. I'm definitely looking forward to more of your in-depth remarkable videos! Be safe out there! God bless!
I just ordered the Sinch.2 from Aventon. I'm going on 50, don't have the dexterity I used to have and appreciate the step through design. I also appreciate all the good reviews and know that for trips to the store, maybe pulling my dog to and from places in a cart and in general, taking up some of the lesser trips I would normally have driven, I'm going to like the use of the bike vs. the truck!

I bought a Specialized Globe Haul ST about a month ago. Get 60 miles on level 1. I use the panniers for my business hauling shipments to the post office and to local customers in my town. The 20 in wheel and 3.5 in tires with the quiet tread in the center make it quieter and it’s so maneuverable! Absolutely fantastic presentation. In next update I would like to see the weights of the bikes noted in the comments. Also, a category for lightweight commuter would be useful. Older riders - I mean 70's and 80's can't lift a super heavy bike onto a rack. Light is meaningful even with range tradeoff.

I'm riding a RAM Mia 1200 watt e-scooter. Cost was $1600 with 3 year waranty. Full motor use has a better than 100 mile range on it's 60 volt, 40 Amp battery. Comes with mirrors, horn, turn signals, rear carrier with trunk and a great alarm system. That locks up the wheels. It will do 56 KPH and pulls 20% hills very well. I am 75 live and ride in Costa Rica. Without Residence a drivers licese is not possible, but this gets me around very well. One thing I did not like is having to put mu feet together straight ahead so I added a 26 inch bar of 1 inch box steel as a foot rest and crash bar. Made a world of difference. There is a 4th mode locked out that will allow 67 KPH. Only 2 highways here allow for over 60 KPH and unlike the US most drivers here are 10 to 20 KPH below posted limit.
I shopped hard before buying - there were a lot of bikes I liked but only one I loved - the Velotric Nomad 1 - their whole line for me stood out above the rest for me -- just for me :)

Appreciate the time and effort. I almost never see any real evidence regarding quality, warranty, serviceability and and service/support from the makers. The ones we've chosen from this list are ones we feel comfortable enough about in terms of quality and customer service. No company has a sterling track record (especially during covid when customer service was a problem in e-bikes nearly across the board, and we're noticing lingering feeliings even though things are much improved).
You never take into account the easy of getting one fixed, repaired or dealership network for fixing. That will play a role in my decision.

They were offering it at quite a decent discount as i believe they are moving out of europe, but its such a popular bike i dont feel that will be much of a problem. I had 3 discs in my neck replaced and had balance issues. I was concerned that I might not be able to ride my radrunner plus that I purchased online during covid. I didn’t have a dealer near me. I’m 73 and not only was I able to ride it but it improved my overall balance even when walking. I ride it mostly on PAS 1 using 2 on windy days and using the throttle to when a little tired, a little hot after riding a while, crossing a busy highway to get across quickly. I love it, but my endurance is such that I’m toying with the idea of a standard mountain bike, no I’ll just ride my ebike? If you’re older get a step thru which is much safer to mount, and dismount especially if you need to make an emergency stop. Also you might not need it now but might in the future. Also, the radrover step thru and many other brands are so solid and overbuilt that the possible disadvantage of less strength from the folding joint are pretty much negligible.

@@DriverJ-N That is good information to know however, most the ebikes that I have looked at including Gazelle T10+, R&M Roadster/Charger4, Trek Allant+, Specialized turbo Vado 5.0, either do not list or have a 36v battery. If you know of any please let me know in the comments. Thanks!

Lectric Xpedition will do sf hills no prob! They tested the bike on those hills during development and made sure it would make it up the steepest hills before releasing it
Curious about your recommendation for the best rail trail ride. Hard packed ballast and or paved surfaces mostly. My wife and I have been riding Himiway cruisers for several years and we enjoy them immensely. We’d like something lighter but with excellent range for up to 45 miles per ride on those rail trails regardless of the surface material. 😊
Nice job. Thank you

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Myself and my wife stands around 250 + pounds. Can you recommend few options for comfort city rides
I’m truly enjoying my M Blast limited edition greaser.
I would like to hear your thoughts about the Fucare step through dual battery 20 Gemini
Whats the best option for cummuting when heavy rains are a reall posiblity while riding or being parked? Central Florida checking in, Thanks!
Great stuff. Consumers should reach out to the bike company and ask questions about their return policy, where to service their bikes, and to get parts. Check to see if the bike company has a dealership close to your home to test ride the bike before buying it. Most importantly, check your state to confirm that ebikes are legal to use; especially if you're buying it for a minor.
I have the MokWheel Basalt ST. This is my first E-Bike and so far it has been a good bike for me.

I was looking to get a Super73 E-Bike and came to see how it fared. Unfortunately I didn't see it mentioned. Have you guys ever tested a Super73 model, and if so what did you think?
Great video, I think we’re still missing a cool looking city bike like the Aventon Soltera, but with a lot more torque and top speed. If anyone knows of a high powered alternative, please let me know.

Hi, a good review of some great bikes, but something you didn't mention at all was the seat height range. All the bike5 you showed were at minimal height. I'm a tall guy with long leg's so I need to know how long the seat post extends to. Otherwise they are just nice bikes to look at. 🤔👋

Most of these bikes were good for other members of our team who work behind the camera who are as tall as 6'5". More details can be found in our specific reivews of a bike that has caught your eye, or by visiting the manufacturers page from the links we have in the description.
Hi! I was leaning towards Aventon Sinc …. What do you think, compared to this Lectric???
Good choice for himiway imma try and get one of them gotta save up lol
Hello, good job you guys did! But how come none of these bikes come with with a rear suspension option except the Revv1?
@ElectricBikeReport
Жыл бұрын
We're all for comfort, but rear suspension is something that's more needed on your dedicated eMTBs or other bikes where you're primarily off-roading. Since many of these are functional commuters, cruisers, city bikes - or a combination of those - we didn't feel the extra cost was necessarily worth it from other options we didn't put on this list.
Should I get a Mockwheel Basalt or a RadRover 6 plus?
I keep wondering whether I can get a good workout on an ebike with a cadence sensor. Can't quite figure this out. What do you think and how should I do this?
The difference in worldwide offerings is interesting. European market has so many interesting offerings that I hope you guys can review as well.

Hi, Have you all checked the Hyper bike mountain e-bike…….I’ve had one for several years, an😂d it has done well……..At 77 ,I do’t abuse it…It would be nice to see a current evaluation. Enjoyed your video.
Would you be able to review the Fucare Gemini X?
So right now I am riding the eco motion high step pro fat tire ebike and I am very pleased with it It rides like I am riding on a couch or a bed I payed $2100 for it and I think it is very worth it for the money I love it very fun to ride and it rides so smooth that I fell like I am floating and it has a really good horn and it has the suspension seat and wow it makes the ride even beter so yes I love the bike
I’m gonna get a cargo bike- pretty set on the lectric expedition. I wouldn’t mind to pay a little more if I thought one of the $2,000ish bikes was any better. But it seems from your reviews that it’s just a beast. Would I get more bike with the rad wagon or aventon abound? Or is the lectric just the way to go?
@ElectricBikeReport
Жыл бұрын
The internal debate amongst the staff is between the Abound or the XPedition for top cargo recommendation. Abound has a better overall quality feel, but the XPedition has staggering value (and solid ride quality to boot). You wouldn't be going wrong either way, and the Wagon or Blix Packa Genie or solid options as well.

I’ve had the abound for 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. I carry my two kids on the back and it is a beast up every hill. 15mph right up the hill. I chose the abound because the safety rack for kids on the back looked much higher than the lectric’s (theirs looks like it barely comes up to their hip. I don’t know how big a deal that really is but I am thrilled with the abound. wish the front carrier bin was bigger. Front shocks are awesome.
Thanks

Looking for advice on the best Class 1 bike! I think I will end up with the Aventon 500 you just reviewed. But this Rad City might be of interest. The price point is an issue. Thanks
Did a lot of research over the past 1 1/2 years and needed the right circumstances to pull trigger on a purchase. After discarding Gazelle and Trek and Specialized middrives on price alone, I was resigned to a hub drive. Discarded fat tires after looking at Aventon, Rad, Himiway and Magicycle. Decided on a commuter style based on needs and looked at Aventon Level and Ride1Up 700. Really, really wanted a Kost for the range but just too much $$. I was almost all in on a Ride1Up 700 last week when one I looked at and forgot about went on sale: the KBO Breeze. The range was a huge factor, but another was the fact my bike trail (can’t believe I missed this in initial research) does NOT authorize Class 3 ebike. Luckily, the KBO Breeze is an Uber-500W nominal, meaning you actually get 22mph and actually bump it to 24-25 with programming. Sale was able to get me a Breeze w/ 55 mile range AND an extra battery for the same price as a Level! Hope I made the right choice, will advise. But aluminum fenders, integrated front/rear, rear rack, removable battery, extra battery all for $1,700? Had to do it.

@@jimcolothat’s fair enough. I’m strictly straight bike path and plan on very little if any road riding, so I’ll sacrifice the hydraulics for a whole extra battery. I need big range.

The Electric Bike Company is quite some looking bike. If they ever decided to make a 20 inch fat-tire e-bike it might be amazing.
what's a good bike that can go faster on throttle only than the aventure 2 besides the revv 1?
Other than the Aventon bikes, which of these bikes have throttle from zero?

I was curious if you have compared the Aventon Aventure 2 versus the Troxus Explorer. I am looking for a fat tire bike to use in the mountains on backroad four wheel drive roads.

How many times did you attach a trailer to one? Or more to the point, which ones CAN you attach a Burley Coho XC one wheel trailer to?
Did you test the PEDEGO? It is an impressive eBike and has a hefty warranty of 5 years with a prorating on the battery.
