Right! Bmw Jackson wanted $150 for oil change! Nope. Needed coils and plugs, did myself in 45 minutes! I do as much as I can for myself (hubby worked offshore for years).

Great video man, can you do more videos on how to use this product? I have a CLK 320 and i would like to know what more and the procedure of what this scan tool can do

I have a 2004 BMW x3 2.5l suv do you think the NT510 foxwell scan tool work with my make, model and year ? And do you think you can rest the transfer case? Because I did a fluid change on my bmw. And do you think the 4x4 light can come from not register the battery or spark plug change or the transfer case fluid change?? And the warning light got for your transfer case was it the 4x4 light?

Yea it should work just make sure it has the bmw software because they have multiple options. The lights will pop up afted a battery change but goes away after about 30ft. My warning light was indeed for a fluid change and the foxwell handled it. I did have to reset the fluid change twice not sure why but I never got the error again.

Foxwell support recommended NT530 with my car brand preloaded but it's not all-system. It's multi-system. Any advantage in buying NT680 Pro all-system? I'm not a pro but if i invest long term i want maximum benefit. Are these compatible with electric cars or will i need to buy a new tool for EV?

If you had the nt680 then you would just need to add the brand specific software but the question would be how long would it be supported. As far as ev's go it should work with them since they still have the same base electrical structure just electric.

Does the BMW software come along with the Foxwell unit? Or is it installed afterwards?

This model came with the software. Just make sure it says it is preloaded with bmw software.

You may have to install it, but this thing will only go all the way in on a BMW with only the BMW codecs purchased. For every other car brand you have to pay between 60-80 bucks to get codecs to go for a deep dive into those systems. It adds up quick! if you work on a lot of cars

Yes you can reset adaptations

Can you run these scanners with the engine running? Instructions say key on engine off.

I never tried it running but with the diagnostic part of it I would think you would be able to.

@@southerngearz i confirmed with foxwell and also tried nt680. it worked with engine running. I don't know why instructions say engine off. I think all scanners work with engine on car moving to show real time live data. In the past elm bt reader worked exactly like that.

@@uptownphotography yea it was able to read all the modules unlike my cobb that only read the ecu. It was able to read the deep codes as well.

@@southerngearz Thanks again for all the great info. Would you know by any chance if you can deactivate (or delete) features. I would like to deactivate the Adaptive Headlights on my E90 (I keep getting an error code and not worth fixing the issue) and also turn off the Rear View Mirror night time dimming feature. I can't see great when the mirror dims at night time. Thanks. BTW: Your dog is cool too. I have 2 rescue dogs...Dogs rule! Phil

@@southerngearz Thank you sir. Foxwell tech support is, uh, lacking. I'm missing menus, for example I can't scan the SRS, & I don't get the full Special Functions menu you get. I also don't have the menus for resetting service lights.

This same unit with the Porsche software does coding…. Email Foxwell to have them add coding to the BMW software on updates. If enough people do this…. They just might add it
