As an experiment Des I tried your method of putting a sleeve over the end of the solid elastic with a piece of hollow elastic. I made it around 3 inches long then just tied a double overhand knot in it. It did not disappear into my top kit and the double loop method of my line fitted over perfectly thus saving buying Dacron connectors and providing an instant strike to the bite. If you did have a large hole in the top kit you could always put a small bead onto the solid elastic first. Works for me as I still have the double elastic for strength.

So using dura slip ratings i guess its 5 and 7 Micro, 9 and 11 Small, 13 and 15 medium, 17 and 19 large

Could you help me with a problem I’ve not had before. After starting to use dura slip red a few months ago I’ve had it snap where the elastic meets the Dacron. The first time it was only about 4 months old when it went. I was using guru Dacron fitted the way against a knot, I always check the elastic and lube it twice a month. The first time I fitted a new Dacron to the existing elastic as it seemed fine but it went again. I discarded this elastic and fitted a brand new red dura slip, but this time I purchased the new Preston Dacron connector using the figure of eight knot you showed. First time out it went again. My poleis a matrix MTX1 with fitted end bush and puller kit. I only go twice a week pleasure fishing, I go to Monks lake in Kent once a week and catch big doubles to 16lb. I never had this problem with N G elastic. Could you help. I’m 75 and only started pole fishing about 4 years ago. Thanks

I still double up my elastic at the end where it meets the connector to strengthen the end, It was advice from you Des, do you still do it.?

Des could show how to do the double loop on the rig to connect to the dacron connector

I was sat here thinking, it's just a Dacron connector and what could be so exciting about it, but that little knot recess is genius! Are you going to do them with shorter tags?

Ask at the tackle shop to start with. Plus there should be an elastic size guide on the packaging(what Dacron bead is for what sizes of elastic). But the more you use your pole and set your pole up the experience will soon be gained by you.

Looking forward to getting these just like the Duru slip elastics I've got unbelievable success

@@andrewvickers2740 ah thanks for that 👍 ... I only have a 8m pole with 2 top kits so i got the white 13 for all around fishing and a red 15 for down the edge .. I normally use lighter hollows (6 to 10 white map) (12 to 16 black map) and play fish on the puller.. I find I bump less fish like that. I'm hoping the duraslip is fine never used a hybrid .. I got a new pole and atm it has solid heavy elastic and its horrible.. I bumped a big fish last time 😑

@@leafysfishing stick to the Duru slip 15-19 I use the browning cenex hybrid power. 16 & .18 (6.6lb & 8.5lb) awesome line try it pal

Try my method above of a hollow elastic over the last 3 inches of solid elastic then just tie a double overhand knot in it. Works for me.

Can’t wait to try these I have been using the Drennan connectors and am having problems which the connector sitting flat hopefully These will be better

Drennan are top dacron. I have had 0 issues. But got to try these.

They all work well just another variation on a theme

To easy for preston to just put what size dacron connectors suit the elastic on the packaging 🤔

My experience here: Micro is suitable to the lightest elastics. I would use it until 1.2 mm. The small one is just about perfect with the 1.6mm elastics. I have the medium ones, but I did not used them, the small was just perfect to the 10-12 hybrid elastic (1.6mm). I used the small one for the 4-6 (1mm) and 6-8 (1.2mm), but the micro should be used there.
