An original WR Street Quattro with decent exhaust sounds awesome. As the I5 engine became more developed with hydraulic tappets and 20 valves, it lost some of its rawness...however, the RS3 really doesn't come close to the original engine be in 10v or 20v form..

I enjoyed this video quite a lot and also consider the LFA to be undeniably the best sounding car ever. I was fully expecting an honorable mention or side note for the FD series RX-7 with the unique and iconic sound of that Wenkel rotary.

You see wile your right the problem is we talking about stock cars unfortunately the rx-7 didn't sound amazing without some kind of mod. cus he didn't even mention some cars but they only sound good modded not stock like the supra, audi quatro, 98 civic type r, like those cars not only sound amazing but are fast too but they have to be heavily moded and not something you can just buy like a stock car

even when it has nothing to do with the video since sound depends only on the "blow" and also a bit of "bang", he isn't explaining anything about engines, just mentions the 4 stroke cycle and that's as technical as it gets, also almost all of what he says is just bs he says to sound like he's not just talking to fill the video transitions

Too high-pitched to me to the point it kinda hurts my ears. I love the LFA but I straight up HATE it's sound. As well as any other V10 except for maybe the Viper engine and I hate the Lamborghini V12. My favorite engine note is Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Much softer, relaxing growl. Felt in love since playing NFS: MW back in 2008 or something.

It has the Mercedes M155 Engine in it, which is a Mercedes M113 on steroids and supercharged. The M113 can be found in car like the E55 AMG, C55 AMG and CLK55 AMG.

I would put the Abarth 595/695 to the 4 cylinder list as well, it sounds amazing for a 1.4 liter.

I bought a Celica because I wanted a 2+2 coupe last year, but the 3SGE sounds incredible, made me fell in love with that car

I know it's been 2yrs since this video but the new Carolla GR exhaust note at stock sounds pretty good from videos I've seen. Also I love the sound of my 5 cyl VW Golf. Cut all the mufflers off and put in a Flowmaster Flow FX muffler. Sounds pretty good Those Coyote v8s sound freaking amazing as well

@@pAirA_ what I’m saying is that 1,2,3 and 4cyl engines usually sound a bit bland and boring but from 5-12 they sound really good (Audi sport quattro for 5Cyl, for Golf R32 for 6, Mustang GT350 or Ferrari 458 for 8, LFA, CGT, 5.0 Gallardo, hurucan evo for 10, and for 12 there’s the 812 competezione, Murci SV, Aston Martin V12 Vantage)

To me the only engine configurations that can sound good are V6 and V8. I believe I3s and I4s can too but I haven't heard any good examples. By now my favorite engine notes are Alfa Romeo 90° V6, Gen 3 Ford F150 Raptor V6 with tricky exhaust with the loop and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren V8.

To me personally, nothing will ever surpass the sound of a V8. It's just raw, primal, aggression. But being one that loves all different types of cars, I also love the sounds that most engines can produce. Even some unsuspecting ones that you wouldn't think could ever sound cool can have some good tones if the setup is right. Hell my dad and I made a go kart back in the day with an old school 3hp brigs & straton lawn mower engine that we made a custom exhaust for that sounded pretty cool at WOT, Didn't do more than like, 15-20mph but still, sounded cool.

5 cylinder should have been the Audi Sport Quattro. The pure angry sounds as it runs through the rpm range is just amazing. I'm not a dodge guy but the Demon sounds way better in the v8 segment then the other 2. I honestly would put any big block from the big three ahead of any other v8. When it comes to v8 I really think that low growl is what most people expect from one

@@Windows_XP_2005 I honestly would go with the 60's V8 cars. Even though I like the sound of a modern V8 the stock form is a bit more monotone compared to the early ones with a distinctive chop. In the 5cyl cars the 85-86 sport quttro is probably the best sounding car in stock form. I kinda wish the angry group B monster stuck around longer in production.

The Zonda R’s sound is so beautiful that I lost my hearing. Worth it!

Surprised not to have seen the m3 E46 in the 6 cylinders 🤔 also the jaguar xjr is probably my favourite V8, no unnecessary burbles and cracks just sounds genuine

I really like how much effort went into this video in particular and it's definitely noticiable that the production value is top notch here. Definitely an under appreciated channel. For me 5 and 6 Cylinders are the sweet spot. Especially the Volvo, RS3, Porsche 911, Ford GT and BMW M3 give me chills. But overall for me the Carrera GT sounds the best, I even prefer it a bit over the LFA because it sounds less synthetic to me. But that's definitely nitpicking and I think we all can agree that the LFA and CGT are always on top and its just a formality at this level.

RUF ruins porsches because they take them and change them up. if the car needed the extra shit RUF does, porsche would have already did it since they make the cars as good as they can.

Mitchell Mifflin it was an rb26 that was used as the engine for the Mona Lisa s15. So technically it is a skyline engine that was put in the Mustang. Also the s15 engine is called SR20DET if I’m correct

Lexus LC500 and RCF uses the same engine so it's sort of in the list. But i agree, it's the best sounding V8

Flat four on my 2000 Subaru Impreza was the best ever (with straight pipe exhaust). Honda Integra type R had a nice one too

The legendary F40 V8 tho you missed it sounds gorgeusly good

I know it's outside the realm of road cars... okay, outside of cars at all, but my favorite 3cyl is the 1.6l Rotax 1630 ACE from newer Sea-Doos. It's satisfying to listen to through its whole range, especially at idle, and if it has a supercharger, it makes sure you know it's in there at 8000 RPM.

I spotted something that's missing, but it's not a piston engine so I see why it wasn't included. but rotary engines, they deserve to be an honorable mention at least.

I still have no idea how the LFA sounds the way it does. It's so unique, you give a non-car guy one or two samples and he'll probably recognize it in the future. Such a unique sounding car!

@@darkySp to the contrary, Lexus actually consulted Yamaha's musical division for help designing the exhaust note

I would say that two of the most "you know it when you hear it" engines are the EJs from the STis and the VQ35R engine from Infinti/Nissan. Very distinctive sounds.

V10 sound hurts my ears. Never understood why car guy community love V10s so much. Same thing with Lamborghini V12. I prefer softer sound like the Mercedes-Benz SLR V8

@@ldmtag I think because it reminds so much to the f1 sound. I love almost every sound but the LFA has that something that set her apart from the others

For 4-cylinders, I think the Fiat 500 Abarth shoulda gotten an honorable mention. For the V-12's, the Ferrari FXX-K EVO is a monstrosity that needs to be heard. On a side note, Rotaries have felt neglected and have left the chat.

I heard a C6 ZR1 Vette that had at least a stage 4 cam, had to have been straight piped. Probably the best sounding modern V8 I’ve ever heard

Another amazing sounding 5 cylinder is the chevy colorado believe it or not i was shook when a friend straight piped his sounded like a viper

personally I'd swap the LFA and the Murci SV but any arrangement of these 3 is the perfect list! well done!

Gotta say.. the sound me 350r makes is addictive and makes me wanna do crazy things

The Huayra R is arguably the best sounding car in existence

I was waiting for the wrx. It’s my absolute favorite engine

So the 370Z got a shout out at the end... Imo, the VQ35 despite having a lower power output sounds immensely better than the VQ37.
