Hell yea man! I've really been considering getting one of these. Thanks for doing a GOOD SOUND QUALITY review of this bass! I guess review the other Harley Benton deluxe basses like the Reverse P/Humbucker bass in Ash/Maple..and also the same model from this video, but in the same Ash/Maple combo sir. And hey you know what? Also the Harley Benton Musicman HH copy!!! Man that thing is hittin'!!!! I saw you do a review with the guys from that other bass channel, I think it's called Bass Gear..but do one on here like really thorough, going through all the switch positions playing the same perhaps 20 second riff FINGERSTYLE (no distortion) please, so we can really tell what that bass is about..and of course I'm really considering getting that one as well! But please review them basses bro. I know a lot of people would benefit from that. And most likely they'll end up buying from Harley Benton dude!! lol You never know..you might end up getting sponsored by them..maybe one day have your own model bass..The Patrick Hunter Triple PJ Beast bass..hahaha, just saying bro! Thanks for all the good sound quality videos again!

I have to agree w you Patrick. The neck pup sounds like a P pup. In fact, I've been falling in love w the MM / P counterpart, and I saw of comparison between the MM/P and MM/J (both 4-string), and was floored by how great and how similar BOTH basses sounded. A # of people thought there was a big diff...some preferred the J and some preferred the P (like I usually do), but I was hard pressed to hear much of a difference. I think you'll love the H-B M/P bass as well.

It's playability is without any questions, sound... gerat... the colour amazaaaaaiiiiizing, also the 0 fret reminds me to a Lakland 55 02 in the very same colour but one inch longer and 10 times more expensive... unfortunately mine had a fuzz sound in the head plate, the pickguard wasnt mounted in a plain manner and last but not least... why did HB drop the capability of passive tone pot? Before I had the HB B550 and that one had a tone pot usable in both active but also passive mode. I got the last one in stock so no change possible.

Decided to take a look on the Thomann website and see if they had this Lake Blue w/Rosewood-alternative board in stock. Nope. On backorder. I did see this bass in a natural finish with a maple board for $277 +€30 (about $35) shipping. I wonder if the EB/MM 5-string pickup would drop-in fit this bass? If it does, then there are several decent economy aftermarket pickups that would fit too.

Hey Patrick, looking for a bit of advice. I'm currently looking at buying a J bass, to be honest with a baby and a toddler price is very tight 😂 I've been looking at the Fender MIM J Bass and saw your comparison with the Harley Benton JB-75 and it's made me wonder whether to get it. My main work horse is a Fender MIM 2017 P Bass, I would only be using the J bass for potentially some recording in the future. Should I save up for the Fender? Or this Harley Benton in this video? I just got a mj-4eb which cost £280 given the extra import tax and UPS handling. Overall pretty good but like a lot of HBs the frets are protruding a bit which might be a bind to file given they are SS. Tuners are deffo a bit meh and the knobs are pretty tacky. Also it seems the bass and treble are by-passed in passive mode. The bass and tone in active mode are too harsh on max/min but okay +/- 50%. Other than all that it's still a very good bass for the money but if you were to only buy one bass you would be better getting the SIRE V3 from Andertons which would be cheaper post Brexit.

I would like to know the weight of this stunning bass. As a long time MusicMan / Fender / Carvin fan I am just asking myself how cheap great basses can be. I was underwhelmed if not disappointed by a Harley Benton Jazz copy. This one had a great tone but was too heavy for a 90 minutes gig! And I am a big and strong person. Then I was surprised by a Harley Benton Precision copy with one single coil. The tone was outstanding, the built quality was good, the weight average. The problem with those Harley Benton instruments is the lack of consistency. You never know what you get, and its tiering to send back an instrument three times until you have what you like.

bflo1000 - the thing is, they changed the pickups after introduction, from Alnico to Ceramic. I would describe the results as “unbalanced”, with the P much more powerful than the MM and too much for the onboard preamp. That’s why I went passive, I get good results in to an external preamp (tc SpectraDrive) and a USB interface. I should also mention that I split the wiring so I can treat or record the pickups separately.

you talk a lot about the versatility in tones, yet dont show any. Would ahve been great if you showed the neck pick, then the bridge, then the blend, and finally the blend with the split coil in the neck. Basically I wanted to see if it did the MusicMan Stringray sound, plus the Jazz bass and how the blend of MM+J pickups sounded.. I watched the whole video waiting for it :( And in the future if you do, please do a short riff and use the same riff for all pickup combinations. Then change music style and do the same. Something every guitar demo youtuber out there seems to fail to understand, either they give you a completely different music style or amp/fx/sound settup, or they play a 3 min song before changing the pickups/guitar/gear they are comparing, so by the time you hear B, you already forgot how A sounded like
