Hi Tim, Would you consider adding a "home office essentials" category in the HUB Essentials checklist for monitors? In a post-pandemic world a lot of people are looking for monitors that could pull double duty on both productivity during the day and gaming in the evening, and that would greatly help with making an informed purchase. The category could consist of: - USB Type-C that supports DisplayPort - Type-C with power delivery (I feel like under 60w should be a fail condition) - KVM switch - USB hub Essentially, is it possible to connect work laptop with a single cable to your monitor. Things that are already covered in checklist, but would fit the new category better - RGB subpixel layout - VESA mount - Height adjustment should be expanded to also include swivel/tilt/portrait mode

Awesome Tim. Your monitor reviews are as good as it gets.
This video really makes me appreciate my M28U that much more. I've tried to switch off it 3 times now and it always comes back as the winner. The value I get for a 4K 144hz I paid less than $500 for is honestly stunning.

Thankyou for your reviews, they're extremely comprehensive, as a Bfi fan I love the included section, are you able to also include brightness information for when this feature is enabled as this information is extremely hard to find on manufacturer's websites. Thankyou
Thanks for the review. This was a great replacement for an aging viewsonic monitor that I’ve had for forever (vp2365-led). I can assure you that though the HDR may not be much better than the SDR on this display it feels like HDR compared to the old display 😂
I havea couple M32U, and cant be happier for work and play.
The overdrive tuning is pretty impressive, even if the panel is a bit slow overall. No stupid issues with a mode that's too slow and the next step up being way overshot.
Hopefully you will be able to test the LG 27GR93U as well, to see if LG can tune it as well or better than the 32 inch version.
hope you get your hands on the 57 inch samsung g9 , you do the best monitor reviews!
Interesting is how power consumption seems to scale with performance. Overall, I'd probably ante up for the M28u if I was shopping for this resolution, though the G7 sure if compelling. I'm just not sure I'd take the risk on a curved surface for mixed usage. Would love to see you get the MSI G274QPX on your ratings chart now that you've reviewed it. That contrast ratio....
Will you also please do a review of the new 57 inch Samsung G9 Neo? I'm dying to see your full take on it
If they were priced the exact same and my main use is gaming, would you recommend this or the m28u more?
It is great once you get it tuned right. The firmware update feature was horrible because the software would fail to push the update. Had to send it back for a replacement which had the same issye. Finally had to practically disconnect every USB accessory other than my mouse to get it to work. Had to download a monitor profile from some monitor site to get it to look reasonably decent and I fine tuned it to get it where it should have been initially. My Gigabyte laptop was 2k, but similar specs and was perfect out of the box.

Can’t believe I got it for under $500 a few months ago, what a beautiful monitor.
Would you consider looking at something like the Cooler Master GA271 for gamers on a budget? In my country it's stupidly cheap for what it offers but there are no proper reviews out there for this model..
Thanks Tim for review. I've seen your other reviews, but I can't make a choice. I didn't see any AOC in your reviews, and I own one now (AOC Gaming 27G2U). I'm changing my PC, and I'll have an Nvidia 4070, what can you recommend, possibly under $500/euro? Thanks for all

Can you review the Dell S2721QS as a low cost 27" UHD 60Hz monitor for generic/2nd/work. It comes in pretty cheap and could be interesting to add perspective to the rest of the charts/rankings.
What are your thoughts on the HP Omen 27q?
Got this Monitor after seeing this Review, and I have to say I do have some odd problems with it. I set the Monitor to 160hz and 10bit Full RGB. When booting up 8 out of 10 times the Out of Range window pops up, in this case I need to switch the Input on the Monitor to HDMI or Type-C and after about 5 seconds it switches back tot DisplayPort and I get an Image. This also happens in Games when is switch video setting (Resolutio, Monitor Framerate), the Monitor goes Dark and the Out of Range window pops up again, only after switching Input in the Monitor Menu again it switches back to Display Port and I have Image again. I tried everything to troubleshoot the problem, but I can't find a fix for it.
Are you going to review the new Acer Mini-LED monitor? Seems like it would be a great choice for budget HDR and general gaming. Acer 27" Nitro XV275UP Mini LED QHD 170 Hz HDR, I can't find any reviews on it.
What non-budget 4k 27inch display would you recommend? Do you know if there will be a LG 27inch 4K display that uses their new ATW polarizer?
The checklist should also cover the size.. is it really >= 27.0" or is it more like 26.5"?
Tip. Would be nice to include only 4K monitors for comparison when reviewing a 4K monitor. I would prefer to see more models removed for example 1080p monitors.
you should've retested M28U brightness with newest firmware, it got bumped from 300 nit max to 500 nit

Hi, I am thinking to buy a new monitor for ps5 mostly. I looked this monitor and the LG 27GR93U (previously reviewed) at 530$. Would you recommend me?
I like to choose between 1440p and 4k gaming depending on the game and situation so I have an S80UA for 4k60 and an M27Q for 1440p 165hz side side by side. My 4k S80UA is really nice and colourful, and I like it for my daily work. However, I do wonder if it's worth upgrading it to something like the M27U to pair with a 7800 XT.
@Battleneter
8 ай бұрын
IMHO if you also do any desktop work avoid 2160P(4K) at only 27" it's a crappy format, 32" is where you want to be. 7800 XT is a decent 4K GPU atm, but it will be struggling in a few years so you will be committing to upgrade again fairly soon. Personally I would go Ultrawide 3440x1440 over 4K for general gaming, get a lot more visual benefit and its around 30% less demanding than 4K.

It might be good to test backlight strobing at the half-rate of the monitor. Potentially a 160hz monitor could split one 80hz frame into two 160hz frames. Though I guess that's not the case here given it turns off at 75hz.
How does this compare to the Acer xv275kP3 that is hdr1000 for $599?

This may sound like a stupid question. If it's 160hz and PS5 only does 120hz, would it still be able to output at 120hz? Im thinking of going for this than the m28u.
Externa design is great! Good enough, as all monitor external design should be! No one is looking for pointless back facing RGB. Only RGB that would be justifiable in a monitor is Philips ambilight.
*I returned the M28U...* I like it, but within hours I realized I couldn't get rid of a horrible COIL WHINE issue. It would go away if I'd mess with certain settings in the Display itself, but then the issue would just return. I think it had something to do with BRIGHTNESS control but I forget. Anyway, it ended up costing me a lot of money because I got screwed over with returns (not by Gigabyte itself) so I'm now very skeptical. I wish I could buy a monitor at a local STORE and easily return it, but it doesn't really work like that anymore.

28 inch is a very weird size so im glad they did a 27 inch one, although for me thats still too big but better.
4k is still a bit much for me as I'm still using the PC I built in early 2016..........that said I do need a new monitor. so I thought I'd ask since I'm here and remembered. I was looking at either the M32Q or the M27Q-X. the M32Q is larger but like $50 cheaper. I don't understand monitor stuff, I've only bought used monitors from pawn shops in the past, only for them to die within 6 months. I'm currently hooked up to an old TV I had (I think it's from 2009, 40" LCD), I didn't have money for a new monitor at the time and just used the TV. Since the colors are dying in it however (greys have a pink tint now) I think it's time to get a regular monitor again. Basically, practically anything would be an upgrade at this point. Just though I'd ask what others might recommend between those 2.
Owned this for 2 months now and no major complaints. The only minor complaint I would make is that the matte coating is a bit thick, and it would be so much better without it. I also use this in sRGB mode. FYI - this has gone on sale for as low as $500 on Amazon before so definitely a good deal imo.

2K is a well established cinema spec that refers to 1080p, 1440P is technically 2.667K. But yes you never want to run 1440P on a 4K display, looks way worse than native 1440P as it divides poorly and causes a soft slightly fuzzy interpolated image. 1080P on the other hand divides perfectly and looks nearly native on a 4K display. If your PC does not have the grunt to game in 4K don't buy a 4K display buy 1440P.
