THE BEST BORDER POST IN AFRICA

With over 1000 trucks now passing through beitbridge borderpost, With over 22,000 residents, Beitbridge is a vibrant community that is witnessing rapid growth. The once cumbersome process of crossing the border has been significantly improved, benefiting over 1000 trucks and 15,000 people who traverse the border daily. Previously, truck drivers faced long queues and delays, spending 24-48 hours to clear a truck. However, thanks to a more efficient system, the crossing time for haulage trucks has been reduced by a staggering 50%, streamlining trade operations and boosting economic activity.

Zambia will decide the viability of this post. It is that simple. This is because 70% of the traffic passing through it goes to Zambia and Congo. Zambia with Botswana have built Kazungula one stop border route. When Zimbabwe failed to sabotage that project, they emptied their reserves to upgrade this post, and the road from Chirundu Zambia that leads to it. This is because 70% of the road taxes Zimbabwe receives come from this route. Zambia is therefore sitting in the position of king maker. If it drives traffic from RDC and Zambia through Kazungula, Beitbridge becomes a white elephant. It should be noted that Zambia is also the conduit of traffic from as far north as Kenya and Tanzania, to South Africa.
