LAR has always been my favorite rifle. Its so powerful. So reliable. It's a great feeling finding one. But a shame to lose.

It is my favourite too, it was my favourite even when it didnt have full auto but I still use semi auto anyway since you only need one shot. I would not say it looses really you just ignore some variables that are not important to you. Like whether gun is silent at 3000m or 3300m, in what situation 300m at 3km distance makes difference whether you are stealth or not. I could just the same apply variable like how much of the screen is obstructed by the sight picture of a gun. That seems like a variable you could include and it matters right? But we dont see it here. So all of this is not empirical its subjective to what variable is decisive factor. And if I wanted to I can make same comparison video with variables set up in a way that LAR would win. So to conclude it if you like LAR use it for me it is the winner and I willl keep using it. And not because I have one at home and my opinion is biased :-D

Not being able to attach a silencer is a bit of a bummer tho.

Been running the AUR AX since it was released on PS and it is without a doubt my favorite. With the 6x on, I never need to carry a sniper rifle, it truly does it all.

@@17MrLeon that's not what assault rifles " should " do. They're meant for cqb, not distance shooting, but the Aug ( with the 6x48 scope) can cover better distance than the rest. Best of both worlds. Also very satisfying sound with the suppressor on.

@@georgecochrane9073 No, you mistake that with submachine guns. assault rifle was designed to fullfill both roles of a rifle and submachinegun. Since standard issued rifles were able to engage up to 1000m experience in ww2 showed that most of the firefights happened below 400m. thats why assault rifles were introduced. For cqb you can use pistol shorgun or submachinegun. Assault rifles are for universal use thats literrary the main purpouse why they exist.

@@17MrLeon you are 100% correct and I appreciate the history lesson but I was just talking about in the game. The assault rifles aren't great for long distance since they fixed the AK74 thing. For me they're better mid range and even better close quarters. Just my opinion.

Disappointing to hear all AK types have the same recoil - considering the AKM is fitted with the slant brake as well as being a heavier calibre compared to the 74U's flash hider, you'd expect some difference (not to mention it's greater weight and size) whilst the 74/101 are fitted with the later type muzzle brake which is renowned for its recoil control effectiveness plus lower recoil cartridges. It would be nice to see those differences considered...

I'm sure with the 74U they did it intentionally since it's a nice hybrid between smg and AR, if it was too accurate and controllable it'd be kinda op since you could rock that and one of snipers without taking much of a hit to your carry weight and stamina. That being said, I fully agree with you about the 101 especially, there's not really much of a reason to seek one out when there's plenty of more viable options atm

Yes you're right, and I would also love to see slot difference between attachments. So AK with suppressor would take more slots than without suppressor. Or if you folded folding buttstock would me smaller.

Likely the AKM would have the most, kinda why it was replaced by the 74 and later the 101. although different 5.45 and 5.56 are close enough for video game reasons to have the same recoil on the 74 and 101. the 74u should be comparable to the akm because ratio of weight to bullet energy probably similar?

Oh, how I wish to see this kind of video for all types of firearms in dayz!

I usually use the m4a1 with the magpul attachments for least amount of sway. I wear glasses irl and it really helps me see my target with less sway, plus in my book i don't usually fight long distance anyways, most of my encounters are randomly running into someone in a military base or town. id say the average fighting distance for me in dayz is around the length of a school bus.

Famas is the best assault rifle, anything above 150 meters just use a sniper for. Having a vsd or mosin with your famas makes the famas the best assault rifle in the game.

@@u1t1matr1x8 bro I'm with you on bad eyes, I don't even snipe bc 1 I'm on XB but mostly I usually can only tell the difference between zeds & pc's by their movement not by seeing the difference >;D

There is one large factor missing in this video; the LAR "stun" locks enemies, meaning that effectively you will win a fight with the first hit on a torso. A played can't move or shoot back once they are stunned thus making the LAR broken OP at all ranges, even CQC because you can just stun-lock enemy players.

The famas still beats the LAR in cqb, you can stun in one shot but the famas will kill you with 1 shot unless you are completely full health in which case you go uncon... you're going to get hit by 2 famas rounds though

I mainly just rock an M4 for two reasons. Number one, it’s a lot easier for me to find 5.56 and mags for it compared to 7.62 and the AKM. And number two, I like the amount of customization the M4 has; however I might start seeking out AKMs.

@@gapstergangst5070 You gotta look in perma toxic zones. My group has a base in Berezino, and we just do Rify runs getting our weapons. Then we head up to Kamensk to get ammo, attachments, clothes, etc.

I was going to consider it, but it's wildly inconsistent. Sometimes it stuns, sometimes it doesn't for 5+ shots. Is there a trick to getting the stun to work? lol (or is it just bugged) I was also going to consider the armour damage of AP rounds... but it was so far behind in stats I didn't think it was worth it. I'll retest AP rounds in a future video

It may just be me, but i swear they changed something about the lar, i hit freshspawn at about a hundred meters and to my suprise he staggerd and then booked it into the woods with a ruined shirt but running at full speed, there are a few other instinces that have made me skeptical to

I definitely think the stagger should be considered. I also feel that AP rounds being a 2 tap to armored targets up close with 1 shot bringing them to red health (If it still does 75) also counts for something. AP have the highest dps to an armored target within range dont they?

you dont have to, SVD wins as all purpouse sniper rifle. Longest distance, semi automatic and can use supressor (no we dont count bottles as supressors)

Always loved the aur ax. Best weapon for all ranges except for entering and clearing in closed doors. That's when you take that baby AK or a vaiga with you

I think the spawn locations should be taken into account for weapon rarity. Like the AK-101 can spawn at Tisy which is much more convenient than heli crashes or gas zones imo

Very nice video, thanks for this breakdown! As for snipers, I think the Mosin will always be my favourite. I doubt it is the best, but I have kills from up to 400 meters using ironsights, and up to 800 meters with the scope. It is a beast, and irrationally satisfying to shoot...

I started collecting the numbers today and Mosin looks to be slightly better than the Savanna and Tundra at longer distances. I can hit shots consistently at 1050 meters(PU pew pew)

I kinda agree on your opinion. Personally I like the feeling of shooting the Mosin and the PU Scope has its magnification in the right spot. But on the other hand you have to consider that Winchester+Hunting Scope is only about 3kg while Mosin+PU Scope is about 5kg. If your're using a loadout with Plate Carrier + Assault Rifle/Shotgun this will lead to very low stamina. Because fast repositioning is important as a sniper, the reduced weight makes up for the (tiny) reduced damage compared to the Mosin in my opinion

@Elmundo the Great I think its because of an old bug, that the mosin didn't need to be zeroed, if you used PU scope, the bullet just flew straight, didn't matter if it was 50 meters or 1000 meters. :D

The best part about the Aug ax is the fact it can use the greatest amount of different mags in the entire game: 10, 20, the standard 30 round one, the smaller Aug mag, the 40 round mag AND the big ass 60 round mag, so that makes it one of the best all rounders in the game.

I would love to see this video again but with the best attachments equipped on each weapon. Great video

@@WOBO Wobo, you left out the most important stat... practicality. You don't need to use an assault rifle at 200 meters or above considering you usually always have a scoped rifle which is always better than the aug at those ranges. This makes the Famas the best assault rifle in the game if you're not bad at aiming, and the second best being the M4 Not taking into consideration the range the weapons actually get used at is a huge flaw in this video.

@@WOBO I always run the lowest recoil attachments on Assault rifles. Sway is beaten by holding your breath.

Great vid! After lots of toying around with setups my current favorite setup is AUR AX with 60rd mag and SVD. But KAM (75rd) and Tundra is an awesome light weight loadout too. LAR + FAMAS is another good all around setup.

@@17MrLeon It allows you to fire another when ammo runs out and also allows you to use two different types of ammo. When my girl and I play, we use 4 guns between us with 4 diff bullets 5.56x45, 5.56x39, .45 an 7.62. If she fins my ammo it goes to me and vice versa.

@@bawdysasquatch8846 Well it doesnt really depends what variables you put in the equation. DPS wise M4 is better and for some thats the only variable it matters. Aug is only better with littlebit higher damage at cost of lower rate of fire which makes it better for long distance shots. But if person carries with M4 a bloody mosin with scope or Tundra all the advantages go out the window. So no this doesnt prove anything it just compares numbers.

all of this information is useless when you are in a firefight, the guy who shoots you first is the guy who kills you

It does almost 20 more damage per shot than a m4 that is the ax the A1 is dogwater. I will say that the m4 will win close range unless you get the drop shot first. Medium/long range the ax wins 100 percent the time, at close and cqb (literally hallways and houses) the win rate prolly drops to just under half, The m4s fire rate puts it above the ax, but only up close or indoor situations, I personally run the savannah, ax, and sval/sawed double barrel.

This goes along well with my own thoughts and opinion on the best assault rifle question. I will use an AUX with a suppressor and Acog over an M1 any day, and now I know my suspicions are confirmed. Your videos are such a treasure trove for DayZ data. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos. Bravo my good man, keep up the good work. You make DayZ a lot more "ergonomic." Lolz

I feel most comfortable with a KA-M with a drum mag, it’s a monster against multiple enemies, close range, long range but there is something about the KA-47, it’s also a beast. M4 with its bullet rpm is a beauty as well. FAL will always be the rare beast!

The m16 and m4 are my 2 favorites because I can actually get them. I’ve only been able to use the Aug a handful of times

Great video cheers, I’ve got a Famas in a barrel stash as I can’t for the life of me find a magazine for it! Which is best is a moot point for me as whichever I wield I usually don’t survive the contact!

Since it was introduced I will take the AX over every other AR. In addition to what you have said, the AX has an additional advantage over the M4, KA101 and the AK-M is the burst fire. I find that a very versatile feature of the weapon which is why I have always preferred it. However, I cant help think that in the future the DayZ devs are going to nerf it or they will confine it to gas zones only (or both). Just want to say a big thank you for your videos. They are interesting, informative and a must watch for any serious DayZ player. You are a legend in your own lunchtime. Thank You!!!

Yea its good. Its basically the only thing i can find on vanilla cause all the others are so rare and spawn like only at toxic zones or helis.

I always try to get a “big” AK asap. I always seem to find an AK101 at tisy. And I always keep some wooden attachments in my backpack so I can straight away slap them on the first AK I find for maximum recoil reduction. Also the AK iron sight is just the best.

I like the SVAL a lot. However that based on our modded server. Vanilla. Anything I can find. Sniper / long range Tundra with hunting rifle scope. Vanilla again whatever I find.

totaly agree, also AUR AX has very low gun raise stat for a big boy rifle he is, and he takes 5 different mags wich take arguably the most common round in dayz, when the LAR mag can only be found at tisy

My favorite rifle in general is the Aug and Tundra combo, I like bith augs but I'd like the Aug AX due to it using M4 and M16 mags as well as aug mags, just more accessible

It's really making me think of what gun I'll be picking up next

Iron sights? definetly M16. being able to put scope on top is the only benefit M4 has over M16. So if Im using irons M16 is hte king.

Personal preference here, but ever since the AUR AX came out. I rock the AUR AX as my primary with the 60RD Mags and the KA-M as my secondary with the 75RD Mags.

Great video. I know this isn’t popular. But what about a video for the snafu modded guns or “whatever the most popular gun mod is”. As I know a lot of us jump on modded servers, not just vanilla. Nothing to depth like this as there are probably a lot of guns. Maybe just a quick generalization? Either way thank you!!

For mid-tier it's KA-74 with the PSO scope (best scope with the built-in rangefinder) , rules CQB and midrange. I find lots of m16-a2 but drop them, their main downfall is their length makes it a huge pain to use in CQB.

I always loved the aur ax. The aug is one of my favorite guns, the in game gun has a very nice fire rate making it manageable, and with a suppressor the gun sounds beautiful. 10/10

Something this video dosnt consider tough is the burst firemode and how effective it can be with some guns. For me the aug A1 has become the main rifle i stick with, due to its availability, always available optic and its ability to reliably slap 3 rounds into someone from 300 meters, making it effective mid tier gun that just keeps on giving.

@@WOBO Its a marvelous gun in real life too. It boasts a extremely durable barrel with lot of care put into it, allowing it to operate at higher pressures...which in return makes it more durable against dust and dirt. Definedly a piece of work for its time, and loved by many to this day. (not even counting the newer model present in dayz)

you mentioned that it takes 2 shots to kill at range, which more or less makes the FAL and AUG equal. I agree, which is why I think the AK74 is all you'll ever need for an Assault rifle. It knocks out a plate carrier in 2 shots like all the other Assault rifles.

Incorrect,, the ak47 3 direct hits within 5 seconds of each other to get a knock, and it’s damage drop off over range will be far greater than its competitors, still a solid firearm considering how common it is to find.

The plate carrier reduses damage/shock by 75% resulting in it taking more hits, in your comment you said it could 2 hit knock armour which is untrue, be need to be toxic I was just trying to help by correcting an error

A 5x45 round deals 90 shock damage to an unprotected player and 54 to a plate carrier at 0 meters, so yes, it will knock them out within 2 bullets up to 300 meters. You are in no position to correct anyone and the errors are entirely on your side.

I tested it, 2 shots to the centre chest of a plate with a plate equipped and my friend didn’t go unconscious, the shots were within 3ish seconds of eachother, I can sent you a clip of it if you would like

My favourite AR has to be the KAM. It's quiet, accurate, and gets a 75 round drum mag. And if you get the rail attachment you can put an extra battery in your flashlight. I always try find the wooden attachments. I also love the k101 but the only drawback is you get a 30 round clip. I feel like this AR needs some sort of extended mag like the ka74 banana clips. Now my go to AR after watching this video will be the Aug ax.

@@17MrLeon not as far as I know, the sval just has 900rpm and ignores armor which is devastating in cqb.

my favorite (and usual way to go weapon) is the AK-74. 45 rnd Mags, ammo is plentiful, silencer last longer than on the AKM and I found it pretty accurate for what I'm using it for (CQB, below 300m) For longer ranges, I usually use a Tundra or a Savannah (because I don't like the PU scope that much on the Mosin, even though its an amazing rifle).

I was lucky enough to carry the Lithgow Arms L1A1 variant of the F.A.L. in the service of Australia prior to its replacement by the F88 Austeyr. I loved that rifle and owned two as a civilian until Jackboot Johnny Howard stole them from me in the 1996 steal-back. Therefore it is my favourite DayZ weapon.

Best Sub? Best Pistols..? Great Videos man.

KA-74U (pocket full auto+45 rounds+suppressor) hard to beat. Love to see the sniper rifle video.

Why not just put all that on an AK74? Same ammo, same attachments, less recoil, more damage, optic rail, it does take a slot on your back but it's not like you're gonna go around with 3 full size rifles anyway yeah?

Fits n a butt pack when I’m running around with a ghille and a sniper rifle. And faster drawing from a bag than from the back. I mostly run around with a bolt action primarily in my hands or on my back. To me this is a backup rifle for bears, quick cqb, ambush, direct action that happens mostly at less than 20 meters and spray and pray firing from the hip so optic and attachments are almost pointless. Add a light color wooden buttstock and reduce the recoil a little and to me it fits my play style. If I don’t have a bolt action the Ka74 is definitely my primary though.

@@TAWNoCents Idk I'm just anti 74-u now that it does so little damage And I can understand the quick-draw thing but why not have the gun already in your hands when things turn CQB, that way the full length 74 doesn't have downsides, just better TTK

@@joaomarques4291 I'm not a modder, but I assume some may run on vanilla guns frame work. However I also assume some run on a completely modified frame work which enables different rates of fire, different size magazines, calibur sizes, etc.

It’d be cool if they had the retro carrying handle 4x scope that was used on the m16 in Vietnam.

This is why I always try to get my hands on both of these. My best handled weapons

Favorite assault rifle as per your request is probably the akm

Personally the fire rate and attachments the m4 allow for make it my go to but i normally run with a sniper if im going to a toxic zone and want to be bare bone to hold the most i take the aug ax as the best all rounder

I Like to play with the AKs, ASVAL and Fal but the gun i like the most is the m4. Has better sights than the Famas, better fire rate than everything else with a powerful round

The AS VAL is still my favorite. I fight more wolves than players. And it's normally only a gas zone trip away.

The M16 is my favorite weapon because it can be found on the coast an its very effective short to medium range against geared players with plate carriers. If you could attach a Acog scope it would be the best gun in the game IMO. For now I try to pair it with a Mosin,Tundra or now the Savannah.

@@tz4o443 yes you can lmao. I’ve found one in the tent at Berezino and I’ve found a few in the containers at chernogorsk. Even had a 40 round mag in it one time. You can also find the KA-74u. You must be terrible at looting because they are very common an can be found everywhere especially Zelenogorsk.

An this videos a year an a half old. They changed the loot spawns sense this comment an moved all military weapons to NWAF because people complained it was to easy to find those weapons 🤣 So your late bud. You must be new to Day Z

I’ve always had the best luck with KA101’s in PVP . I’ve had an Aug A1 for a while now and like it. I’ll keep it until I die .

I made a tier list of weapons taking into account the three main statistics that are really important: damage to health, cadence and maximum capacity, so at the highest tier they are, m16, m4, aur ax and famas

Got my first every real kill (on regular servers) with an AUG AX the other day, I was surprised when the guy dropped in one shot to the chest

Any assault rifle is good in the right hands. I have been beaten by KAS 74U and KA74 whilst carrying M4's and VSD just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I agree most PvP in DayZ is purely situational. I've killed a 4 man with one mag of M16 and then been killed later on by someone camping with a double barrel. It's all just a combination of situational awareness and luck
