The BEST and ONLY Copycat "Wareings" Durban Snowball Recipe you need to try
If you were a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s, you would remember the very famous Wareing’s Durban Snowballs. There have been many versions of the snowball, but my recipe is the closest you will get to these Wareing’s Snowballs. Dedicated to all my fellow Durbanites who remember this amazing Tea time treat.
Ingredients for Cake:
125g softened butter
1 cup castor sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 ½ tsp baking powder
2 ½ cups all purpose flour
Ingredients for filling:
Half cup of icing sugar
2 tblsp milk
(MUST BE THICK)
Ingredients for Coating:
2 cups coconut
¼ tsp cerise pink gel food colour
Ingredients for syrup:
1 cup sugar
Half cup water
¼ tsp liquid red food colouring

Thanks. These came out lovely. I used vegan butter and half a cup of Applesauce instead of eggs. They were so delicious.

An batter is thin so i use my ice cream scoop
