The R8 is one of those cars that doesn't always look cool in pictures/videos but in person they are badass looking. I would absolutely pick a R8 over a Gallardo or Huracan.

I like the less flashy design… it’s subtle which is the best

Ignore the V10, you're getting a V8 AWD car that looks timeless. I can't think of anything better

The V10’was available in the later Mk 1 models and, of course, the Mk 2 It’s far better (I’ve driven about fifty R8’s as an Audi pro-driver) as it has more torque. That said, for a lot of ‘normal drivers’ the V8 is quite sweet to drive.

They are also one of the most reliable supercars too. They are perfectly capable of being driven as your every day car.

My gf has one and it’s a joy I want one but may take a few years to actually get it got to figure how to budget such a expensive car 😢 but it’s one of the best looking cars out there even today 😊

I love it BECAUSE it's not flashy.

It’s simpler look gives it a more timeless aesthetic.

The v8 sound amazing

The quattro system in R8 is completely different to any other Audi model. And, the two generations of R8’s have quite different quattro systems. Original was 85%R/15%F torque bias employing a slow-acting viscous coupling centre diff and traditional, lsd rear differential. The later model also had a traditional lsd rear differential but the centre diff was an electronically controlled clutch pack with continually variable torque bias. Roughly speaking 100%R/0%F to 60ish%R/40ishF Ignore Audi’s claim that the system could proportion 100% torque to the front axle. Firstly most of the weight is over the rear axle, secondly any acceleration moves the weight (and mechanical grip) towards the rear axle and thirdly one look at the the diameter of the front driveshafts states they ain’t gonna handle 600+hp (or whatever the Nm of torque) Also when the Mk II V10 model was about to launch, two Lamborghini engineers visiting the Audi facility secretly confined that the Audi was better built than the Huracan.

R8 is a modern classic

Gated manual and an intake manifold right next to your head. It’s about the experience not the spreadsheet numbers.

I've always thought that the Audi R8 V8 was released for sale in 2007. At least in North America not sure about Europe. However it was unveiled at the Paris auto show in 2006, and I believe they may have built some very early 2007 year cars in late 2006. Similar to how the c8 Corvette launched in North America how we all heard about how it was released and there were a few people buying them but nobody was able to see one on the road till the year turned, it was like that for this car too. So that means some people will say this car was released for sale in either 2006 or 2007. Also the (late into the year built car means next year over car) thing is universal across ALL cars. If you look inside of your door jamb and check out the manufacture tag on it with the car's VIN number and the weight of the vehicle as well as other important information in either of the corners or clearly listed it will say with the date of production is for vehicle and if it's any later than September it means that your car is branded as the next year over. I.e. 11/17 = 2018 04/13=2013

That’s because most guys can get the R8 V8 to 60 in 4 seconds. I don’t know where 4.4 came from.

It’s doable when you weight half of that. But to reach and keep that top speed is a little more complicated, I would say.

I love how much focus these comments put on 0-60. It’s a beautiful car and an absolute dream to drive. So many people bitching about a car they’ll never own. No one cares about your tesla or EV being faster.

However the strut towers crumble after 6 years and the car is basically totaled.

Fun fact the B8.5 (2013)RS5 has more hp than the V8 R8.

Please also tell people that the front suspension frame was to soft and tear’s off, Audi can repair it but at an astronomical cost because it’s all aluminum, at the first revision they fixed it by reenforcing the frame

R8 is definatly looking much better than a Gallardo and a Huracan..... Lamborghinis became really hidious imo..... they used to look good..... Myura for example..

I had one. Never again! Ignition Coil Failure, Wishbone Failure, AC compressor failure (serious money), Bearing Failures, lead to wheel fracture!!!! Best years are between 2009 & 2019 everything else RUN AWAY! When it works it's a nice car, but just kinda dull. I have way more fun in my Mitsubishi EVO FQ340... That's now 550bhp and quicker than my old R8 and never breaks! 4000 mile full service tho. Price of fun I guess?

The R8 V8 is 4.2 litre N/A V10 is 5.2 litre N/A = sharper throttle response The RS6 is 4.0 litre twin turbo (one per bank) = more torque

It’s crazy how technology trickles down, my Mazda 3 makes more torque (by 3). NOT saying that my car is better or faster though😂

No it doesn’t. I have an S3 & an R8 and while the S3 is a great car… the R8 is a completely different experience. I don’t doubt that I could probably beat my R8 0-60 with the S3, but the R8 is more fun.

The later V10s have 610/620 bhp I’ve been a pro driver for Ferrari, AMG, BMW, Porsche, Aston Martin. They are plenty quick enough for anyone that doesn’t have Bugatti/Pagani/Koenigsegg money. 😊

When my 03 s500 does 0-60 in 5.4 💀 you get a second faster in a “supercar” no value if you want speed and really isn’t anything that great I’ll take an e60 m5 an e63 w211 or a audi s5 all day. Way cheaper no matter which you buy have great driving characteristics more space and will cost about the same to maintain. That’s just me… I don’t like the r8 much the v10 trim is cool and sounds mad good but still e60 m5 has a better sounding v10 imo

Wrong the V8 model actually never came in RWD. The only ones that came in RWD were the RWS cars which weren’t released until Mid 2017 and only with a 5.2L
