    I am 1,70 cm and presently have both Tenere and Touareg. I’ve been using them for day to day use and some off road with knobby tires. I couldn’t agree more with you! The T7 does everything good! But the Touareg simply does it better. It’s more powerfull, shorter and I never bottomed out the suspension the way the T7 does. You will do right with the T7, but make no mistake, the Touareg is more refined, faster and more equipped bike!

    DO you have basic T7? Or World raid with better suspension? As stock suspension is great, but probably worse than Touareg. But World Raid KYB suspension is same or even a liiiitle better than Touareg

    My new bike! And I don't care whether it's reliable or not. A lot of this is talk from times past. My Tuono v4 has been running for 45,000km without any problems. So nothing at all except maintenance. I don't really understand why everyone needs a bike that has to cover 300,000km. Most of them don't even manage 5,000 a year. And optics can be debated. I really think it's different. Not this pseudo-would-be rally tower garbage that isn't really available off the shelf anyway. I don't understand why everyone thinks he's a rally driver😂?! For me she is really almost a unicorn. Up to 5000 rpm there is enough pressure for everything and above ... 80hp it pushes like a rocket ship. Nobody needs more off-road .Exactly what I mean by an adventure bike! Forza Aprilia 💪

    Bought a 2023 Tuareg a couple months ago and gotta say it's an enjoyable ride. Previous adventure bikes were Tenere 1200, KLR 650 and KTM 690. This is by far my favorite. The looks ... at first I wasn't sure but now I like the looks, even the weird headlight and tail light. Some mods I made that helped, a wind screen deflector (MRA or PUIG), Acerbis Chain guard, SW Motech Radiator guard, and a Altrider adjustable kickstand (this was worth the $200!) that helped set the bike at a normal lean angle.

    You make it sound like this is the first adventure bike from Aprilia. They have long history in lightweight off-road and dual sport bikes. First Tuareg came 1984 for desert Rally and followed by the more street oriented Pegaso to compete with Transalp. Aprilia was very early with fuel injection on the unique twin engine dual sport enduro RXV 450.

    Good choice. I really liked the Tuareg when i was searching for my new bike last year. Ultimately went for the KTM 890 Adv R, but that Tuareg left a lasting impression. Main reasons for me was a good deal on the KTM (still 1800€ more expensive than the Tuareg), aftermarket obviously more developed since the 790 been out for a couple of years, more power and lean sensitive ABS and TC. Otherwise the Tuareg is a peach!

    I’m glad to see a longer term review of this bike. So many big name channels get a press bike and mostly talk about the same stuff after only having it for a little while. I’ve been very strongly considering this bike as a supplement to my DR650 for a more road focused touring while still being able to do forest roads and the like. Hard to justify that when I don’t know any long term thoughts.

    I hope Aprilia continues improvements of the minor critiques and adds options for this bike. How about an ADV ready version or at least kit option with standard guards, rear rack and cage ready mount for side bags of choice. I love the look of the blue & white where guys have done the raised mx front fender. How about this as a factory option Aprilia? I too hate the red or yellow seat top. Too low windshield seems to be a complaint on all the stock mid size.

  • @adv-moto

    @adv-moto

    Compared to the Aprilia, it’s pretty similar, but you can choose a power map on the Tuareg, so there is more variability in the response. Tenere does not have this, but with its average power and smooth torque-line, this is not an issue. Tenere - user-friendly motorcycle. I personally know off-road beginners who started with Tenere and have not any problems with this. It's definitely not so jerky as 450cc enduro/rally bikes.

    Based on specs and reviews like yours, the Tuareg 660 seems like the perfect bike for my needs (I currently have a 2022 Honda CB500X) - enough power, enough ground clearance, light enough, a decent suspension, etc. The only thing that scares me away from buying one is Aprilia's less than stellar reputation for reliability. I bought a Honda for that reason and, unfortunately, Honda doesn't have a comparable bike to the Tuareg 660. Yes, there's the Honda Transalp XL750, but it's a better road bike than it is an off-roader. Having said that, unless Honda, Kawasaki, or Suzuki produces a direct competitor to the Tuareg (I don't consider the V-Strom 800DE a direct competitor), my next bike will likely be either a Tenere T700 or a Transalp XL750 depending on how well my plan to become a better off-road rider goes...

It is actually a pretty friendly DIY motorcycle. I've done all of my own service, I have the service technician manual, I have the complete parts catalog and torque specs, the only thing you need a dealer for is Aprilia specific software and warranty. My bike has about 8400 miles on it and I haven't had any issues I couldn't fix myself. I also have three dealers all within an hour and a half from me.

    ok, I was falling asleep when this video came on and I about popped out of bed at some of the completely inaccurate nonsense communicated in this "review". While I think the Touraeg is a great bike without question some of the statements made about KTM and Ducati are absolute BS. For one, saying that you have never met anyone who likes the KTM 790/890engine is just a stupid commentary. The one that really made me perk up was saying that the Desert X has no torque......this is where this reviewer lost all credibility, in fact, it sounds like a bot and not a human. The Desert X has the same 937 engine as the Hyper, Monster and Super Sport. This engine is off the charts torquey and with the different maps you can make it more so or less so but the DX has WAAAY more grunt hat the Toureg. The DX also handles better on road without question. I would also argue that it is more stable off road. The Toureg is a great machine and for that price is the bargain in the ADV community but these kinds of flat out uneducated comparisons will steer people in the wrong direction. I own a DX and an 890 Rally and bought them after spending a lot of time with the T7 and the Toureg. I am sorry but neither the T7 or Toureg hold a candle to the DX or 890 Rally.

    This makes total sense. Adventure bikes are meant to be all rounders. They should be the best possible at everything, cause that's what they're for. As much as I love the Tenere, the lack of tech is just not necessary.
