to me after seeing several videos on how rimfires are manufactured, it dawned on me the difference in brands is the care that is put into reliability. another words will it go bang 99% of the time. that said CCI minimag/stinger and really all CCI ammo fits this catagory IMHO.

I have allot of respect for what .22 can do. My son's first whitetail buck he shot hit the buck right at the base of the spine where it connects to the skull. The buck piled up and while trying to find where he shot it I looked down and saw it was still breathing. I had a Beretta 950 in .22 short on me and dispatched the buck at point blank range. While skinning the buck found the .22 short penetrated the skin and then passed through a rib, both lungs, then other side rib and came to rest just under the skin on opposite side of the buck. I do believe the .22 shorts were CCI .22 short hollow points and the expended round had a nice mushroom shape to it. I did have pictures of all of this, but it was lost years ago in the Photobucket fiasco. I still carry this pistol from time to time because it is better than nothing.

Hey Robbie, I don't know where you collect your questions for your " ask a gunsmith" videos, but I have watched a number of your videos and a buttload of ole Sootch's and both of you have always given good solid usefull information. So when I found out that I could ask you guys a question I was thrilled. I have purchased a S&W CSX after watching many reviews on it including yours, and while my pistol does not seem to have the trigger reset problem it does seem to have a lot of drag as the actuator arm lifts the fireing pin safety plunger. So I set about the normal task of smoothing and polishing any burrs or rough spots I could find Including easing the lateral ridge on the plunger. It was here that I discovered that the plunger was PLASTIC, and seemed to be the major cause of the drag in the trigger stroke. My questions are, 1. Is this going to cause me problems in the near future? 2. Do you or can you make a good hard polished metal plunger for it? 3. If not, do you know of a good source for a metal plunger replacement? I was also supprised that Smith & Wesson does not even have a list of parts on their website??? Anyway, I am enjoying your informative videos so keep up the good work and thanks for any info or help you can provide on the subject. Thanks again, Mitch.

It is funny that the most fun to shoot is the 22 LR and 50 BMG. One is less scary for those around me.

I've had very good results with cci, Remington, Winchester and aguila. Recently I took my TX22 to the range. That magazine had been loaded for a year I think with aguila, and only three shells produced a bang. There was a good clean rim notch on every bullet that did not fire. I'm thinking age?

Been only seeing Winchester 333 Whitebox & Super X Yellowbox. Sup with that? Still never see the Silvertip or other Winchester ammo in 22lr.

22lr for self defence, two 22lr in the face is better and easer to do than a 9mm miss or a shoulder hit.
