    Oh really? Maybe you could soon do a review on the new ones haha! I am in Newfoundland, Canada and in my area stores only stock the mini mags, mini mag hp, stingers, quiets and quiet shp but I've seen a bit more of a selection on Cabelas even tho cabelas still don't have close to all that you shown so it's really cool to see!

What a refreshing change from the usual shouty yeeaaahh that we sometimes get from the other side of the pond on youtube. First GREAT JOB COLLECTING ALL THE CCI LINE UP , I WATCHED SOME SEASONED 22lr shooters talking about some rifle's favor certain type rds more than others , they measured everything and found rim thickness was.... though very slight was the factor , we're talking thousands of an inch of deviation , it has to do with the space from the bolt face while seated in the chamber,. Very interesting .

    The velocitor is the best hypersonic 22lr. (Rifle amd pistol) Much deeper penetration than the stinger (weight, sectional density) and stingers fall on their face after like 70ish yards.

They were bought out by Vista Outdoors a few years back, so they are no longer the CCI I used to know and love and perhaps this is why quality has suffered. Regardless, there is no excuse for the poor customer service I recieved which is the reason for my unfollowing. It all started with my review of the Taurus TX22 (explicit language warning), and I have documented in further videos my interactions with them. CB longs are defiantly quieter than CB Shorts, at least out of my savage 17" bolt action. I did the comparison so i could shoot in my back yard quietly. The Short was noticeably louder, to the point it was not acceptable for back yard linking without disturbing the neighbors. The Longs are quieter than my break barrel 1200fps springier air rifle .. for obvious reasons, with the exception of a flyer or the impact on steel.

Those who shoot competition will know nothing puts you off more than a malfunction, we shoot both precision and rapid, a total oh 70 rounds. I shoot a High Standard others Pardini $2,500 worth of competition pistol. Most will have at least two malfunctions. We don't have to much say in the ammo. we get, it's bought in by a wholesaler Who has a contract with CCI. I believe the crap that comes to us is swept off the floor as rejects. • @BuckeyeBallistics

    Well in America, CCI is about the most reliable stuff there is, and as such, usually costs twice of what the other brands do. CCI here is far better than Winchester, Federal, or Remington for example. I've shot over 100,000 rounds of CCI and can't recall even one malfuntion ever that was the ammo's fault. It's pretty good stuff here. So yes, I would assume then by your description, that they must export batches of it that doesn't meet their standards to whoever wants to buy it up. They can't help it if your supplier re-sells their rejects to the public, I suppose, if that is the case. Great stuff here in the US.

    What would the damage be if i should fire high velocity ammo in a Browning match 150 handgun? I have only been using standard velocity up to now but could use a bit more horsepower for pest control

  • @BuckeyeBallistics

    @BuckeyeBallistics

    Nice gun. Shouldn't experience any "damage", but higher power rounds will cycle the action faster and harder and can wear out the moving parts and parts in contact faster. I have shot everything you could imagine through a well worn Ruger MK1, early 80's model, and it ran like a champ. I wouldn't at all hesitate to run something like the Mini Mags, or anything 36-40 grains that is under 1300fps. I wouldn't do the hyper velocity stuff over 1300 like Velocitors and Stingers if longevity is your goal. Matter of fact, don't use Stingers at all in older guns, as the case is longer and many older guns won't support the case properly. If you want more punch for pests, you can ahieve that without high velocity ammo though. Just use the segmented bullets; they hit extremely hard, like a super hollow point. They make the subsonics in segmented, if it will cycle your action. Also, last year they started making the Mini Mags in segmented if I remember correctly. Hollow points don't expand very well from pistols, sometimes not at all, due to the lower velocity. So a segmented bullet helps astronomically with pistols. It's an older video, but in my .22 playlist on the channel, I have a video comparing a bunch of rounds through both the MK1 and my 10/22, seeing how much damage they do against water filled pop cans, which is a great indicator of how much the hollow points expand. I would suggest watching the long one. I did mini short cuts of the pistol and rifle seperately, only showing myself shooting the cans. In the full length video, I shoot both the pistol and rifle, and do a direct comparison, and compare all the cans. It may help you find other options that will work well out of your pistol. Hopefully this year I can start making videos testing all these CCI rounds and all the others I have as well.

    It's hard to get a .22 hollow point to expand from a pistol because of the lower velocities a pistol produces. Most "high velocity" rounds that are in the 12-1300 fps range, only manage in the 900 fps range from a 3" barrel, less in something smaller like those little micro revolvers. Velocitors and Stingers from a 3" are both in the 1100 fps range. The stinger is faster in a rifle than a Velocitor, but not really any faster when fired from a pistol. Btw, all this velocity info is from www.ballisticsbytheinch.com. With that being said, even with the lower velocities of .22 pistols, if the hollow point doesn't work then you will have over penetration. Even with the lower pistol velocities, most round nose ammo and hollow points that didn't expand will likely over penetrate, sometimes up to 20" or more in ballistics gel. That means you shoot the bad guy, probably multiple times, and all those rounds go right through them and then hit whatever or whoever is behind them. If you are going to use a .22 pistol for self defense, which I am not against whatsoever, I would try to find and use a round that will still expand at pistol velocities. Now the stinger isn't a bad choice: While it didn't expand in tnoutdoors gel video from a pistol, 2 of the 3 rounds fired penetrated less than 15" because of the lightweight 32 grain bullet and also because they tumbled. The 3rd exited the 16" block and kept going. If you want hollow point expansion from a .22 pistol, then you will want something like a trunicated hollow point that has a real deep hollow cavity, like Remington yellow jackets, or perhaps one of the segmenting bullets from CCI, although you will have under penetration with the segmenting rounds per FBI standards, as those segments penetrate no more than 6" even when fired from a rifle. I plan to adress this with my own video and test multiple hollow point rounds from a .22 pistol to see which will actually expand. Now I did do a video a while back shooting a tun of .22 ammo through both a rifle and pistol at water filled pop cans to see which perfomed the best from each platform, and if I recall correctly, the Velocitor was the winner in both pistol and rifle. From those results, that would indicate that the velocitor did expand from a pistol, but bullets hitting water is not the same as bullets hitting flesh. The stinger did pretty well too in my test. But again, that's water; they didn't expand in the gel test I watched...

    Yes all CCI is good I am just saying that when it comes to reliability and feeding Stingers do seem to work the best. As a matter of fact I have found that a good 22 pistol like the Ruger SR22, the Browning 1911 22, M&P 22 Compact, Beretta Bobcat, and several others to work just as good or even better then some center fire like the 25 or 32 acp. So long as it is a good quality pistol, kept clean, broken in, and generously oiled, and loaded with Stingers should work as good as any other pistol. Yes Stinger may not be the best for penetration but for feeding and reliability it is the best! I will check out that link you sent thank you bro.

  • @BuckeyeBallistics

    @BuckeyeBallistics

    Oh hell yeah, I would definately carry a .22 over a .25 or .32. I used to have a little .25 and those things are a joke. I shot a 1" stick with it and the bullet just barely stuck in it; you could see and touch the bullet, like 1/4 inch penetration. A .22lr pistol would blast right through it. Now a .25 can still kill someone, but the .22lr is definately more powerful. The .32 has a little more, but I'd still go .22. I used to have a Walther P22 and Mini Mags, Velocitors, and Stingers all fed and fired 100% reliably through it.

Pretty much the same deal for the red white and blue stuff- it's just a coated mini mag. Not really concerned with getting all the colors of the rainbow when they are just one of their other bullets covered up. That's kinda like saying I didn't get the "Choot em" Troy Landry pack. Why does it matter? Because they are just mini mags marketed with a gimmick, just like the christmas pack and red white and blue pack, but in reality they are the same thing that I already showed. The "quick-shok" is the "cci segmented", they just changed the name; so I did show it. And I did show the quiet segmented did I not? That *is* the quiet hp; there is no unsegmented hp for the quiet.

    Lol good point. But I think it's more for indoor ranges because they don't want the particles floating around maybe, being ingested. Idk.

    Birds and other animals eat the small lead particles and die. Eg geese, ducks, chickens, song birds,.... Hence the game bird ban on lead shot.

    I don't own a chrono, myself. So, I can't confirm what I'm about to say. But, I've watched several videos of people chronographing different CCI ammo. The Velocitors are only going about 75-100fps faster than the 36g Mini Mags. They never came close to their advertised velocity, on the box. Also, the Velocitor doesn't expand, when shot from a pistol, but the Mini Mags do. Plus, the Mini Mag expands to a much larger diameter, than the Velocitor, out of a rifle. Just thought that I would share that info, with you guys... The videos are done by a guy named Alaska something, or something Alaska, here on KZread. Check em out.

    I have seen a couple videos where they didn't quite meet advertised velocity. It has to be the right barrel length to acheive maximum velocity, be that an 18" barrel or 22" or whatever. But either way, the Mini Mag hollow point is only 36 grains. So the 40 grain velocitor going even 100fps faster will hit much harder, much more energy. AND it will carry that increased energy farther, because a lighter bullet loses velocity quicker than a heavier one. I have a chrono, plan to do some comparisons when it warms up. Also the velocitor isn't designed to mushroom like the mini mag, but rather the tip flattens out. And also again, lol, most .22 hollow point don't expand from pistols because the velocity is too low. With all that being said, the Mini Mags have been my go to round for the past 15 years. They are more accurate than the velocitors in most guns too. But I never liquefied a bird with with the Mini Mags, but did with the Velocitors. They hit a lot harder inside 50 yards...

    Thanks for the response, bro. You're correct, in your comments. The Velocitor is designed more for a penetrating affect. I understand the design of both rounds(Velocitor, Mini Mag), but I would be a lot more excited about the Velocitor, if it were somewhere close to its advertised velocity. And you're right, the Mini Mags shoot more accurately for me, also. I can't wait to see your tests. I'm not sure what barrel length this guy was using, but the Mini Mags were getting their fullest potential, in velocity. They were slightly exceeding their advertised velocity, on the box. Which is VERY RARE. The optimal barrel length is up for debate... I do know that if your barrel is TOO LONG, you will actually start causing "drag", and start to get reduced speeds at the muzzle. I've heard everything from 14-24" for optimum barrel length. Who knows...lol. I'm gonna rewatch those videos from the Alaska guy. His barrel length seemed to be perfect. I'll send you the link, if I can find them again.

    There is a cool website called "Ballistics By The Inch" that test's velocity by barrel length. They actually managed 1400fps with the velocitors with one rifle. I rounded up all the Higher Velocity (1300+fps) 40-42gr rounds I could find to compare to the Velocitors. I will chrono them and am going to test for accuracy and expansion as well. I'm trying to find the hardest hitting .22lr there is, which is going to be a high velocity 40+gr. All the super fast ones are too light.

    Awesome!! I'll check out that ballistics calculator. And, I can't wait to see your tests. I'm a ballistics nerd. I just left a ballistics calculator. LOL Here's something interesting... I knew that sight height, from your bore, made a difference in bullet trajectory. So, I did a precise measurement on 2 of my rifles, and plugged them into the program. I had been leaving sight height at the standard 1.5". My rifles are actually 1.7"(sight height from bore). I like to make my rifles hit 1" high at 100, and 1" low at 200. By changing 1.5 to 1.7, it changed my short range zero from 38 yards, to 45 yards, to achieve what I previously stated. 1" high at 100, 1" low at 200. That's a huge difference!!! Made even more of a difference, than I thought it would. This is how people shooting AR's are able to use the 50-200 yard zero. The scope height(about 2.5") allows their bullet to start on a slightly more upward angle. This gives them a more pronounced arch, on their trajectory. Not sure if you had ever thought about scope height. But, I thought that I would throw that in there... Most people don't understand how scope height makes a difference. It does!!!

    Yeah I'm pretty familiar with line of sight vs bore height. I used to put lower scope mounts on my .22's because it kept impact closer to zero from 10-80 yards, the distance I would typically shoot. I would simply calculate how high to hold for longer shots. Then I got my .17hmr and things got much easier lol.
