It's so clever as well! - its like four important things all wrapped up into one: 1 - Like you said, moving the plot forward, while also 2 - Showing that Gilear is actually smart and respectable by 3 - Following the logical conclusion of Fig trying to pass as his *own wife* 4 - Also just a plain great introduction to the character arcs by showing how things don't go to plan.

But over the past few years, I've come across DM's who may not be as famous as him but they make up for it with their spontaneous personalities. That is the type of Dungeon Master I aspire to be, if I so choose to take up such a role

Well they adopted a son because they probably couldn’t have they’re own and they are burying the fact that they don’t like that he is different through smiles and songs evidenced by the fact that when they rebuilt his bed they rebuilt it as the same small bed he inevitably will break again, its a metaphor for the fact that they keep trying to shove him into the space of where the child they could never have fits instead of adapting themselves too him being different.

Gorgug's folks are really the greatest parents. It's honestly such a healthy relationship that it makes me sad.

The idea that Gilear said unkind things when Fig's horns came in is hard to imagine. I can't remember any time he's overtly unkind in an episode other than the "demon" outburst in this one.

Perfect example of a DM keeping control. Fig tries to go off on a mini adventure, rolls really well - and still ends up where she needs to be for the detention of the soon-to-be party. So so good!!

I love Gorgug's parents, they are so wonderful.

The sincerity in Brennan's performance when he did the old principle's speech had me in absolute tears. "...who enacts their will bloodily and with strange magicks upon the world."

I love how everyone's intros were just that, a little intro but siobhan is already like "BITCH IMMA PUNCH MY SISTER AND CAST SOME SPELLS ITS ROLEPLAY TIME!!!"

the COMEDY. I did not expect such perfect foreshadowing and payoff as the fight between Fabian and Gorgug

Ally effortlessly breaking the cast by saying they're like Jesus, then Helio. This is what I love about Dungeons and Dragons. There's always at least one person who's able to effortlessly break the rest of the team.

The segment with Siobhan’s character and her sister is just pure gold, in fact, all the character introductions are amazing.
