I don't believe us mere mortals can completely grasp the length and depth of who the bee gees were and are. !!! Our mission is simply to love and enjoy !!! Pat
People do not realize just how hard it is to keep to your melody line while someone else is singing an entirely different melody basically right in your ear. The BeeGees made it look frickin effortless.
Robin's voice was used very well in this song.
Maurice is awesome! He could do it all!!
I heard Barry describe Maurice as a master harmonizer....he's right.
Never try to pigeon hole the BeeGees into a certain sound. They are one of the most diverse groups ever in music. I think that's a big reason why their music spanned 6 decades. Love your reactions.

“When you have brothers singing together it’s like an instrument nobody else can buy”. From the documentary.
"Its like you're listening to a new group every time you hear them." That's the best description I've ever heard of the Bee Gees. You are an excellent reactor my friend!!!
This is the song where Barry’s falsetto was born!! They recorded this song and their manager listened to it and said, “it’s too bad one of you can’t scream in tune and add it to the background!” Barry said he would try it and Barry’s falsetto was then born!! This rabbit hole goes all the way to China baby!! Listen to the recorded version and you will hear the falsetto over the top! RIP Robin and Maurice, we love and miss you!!🫶
Maurice said when Robin and Barry sang together it sounded like one voice and people had a hard time figuring it out. Mo would jump in to harmonize just by instinct, fun fact they could not read music, they had no formal musical education they did everything by sound and creativity. Robin would also cup his ear in the earlier days to keep his voice centered before all the technology was available ❤
Barry did all falsettos in studio versión. But he cant singging two voices at the same time, this is the reason Maurice does falsetto live

As Shrek would say - The Bee Gees are like an onion - so very many layers over almost fifty years, constantly reinventing themselves, writing songs they felt and whoever wanted to sing lead sang lead. ❤
They could all sing falsetto. The brothers had immense Talent. And not all that Talent was revealed because Maurice left us so very early. Your amazement at their talent, would be very typical of those who do not like the Bee Gees. If they heard so much more than disco they'd realize the brothers we're a fantastic group. They had long careers before they even started with the falsettos. 😀 They are incredible.
Many people don't realize Barry had a powerhouse chest voice in additional to the soft breathy voice and the falsetto. Try "Lost In Your Love" from 1974. He really delivers a great soulful performance. Maurice only did the falsetto on the live version - Barry did it on the record. Another recommendation is "Run To Me" from 1972. Amazing harmonies.

This is the song that the Bee gees discovered their Falsettos. The Producer of the song asked if the Bee Gees could scream or make their voices sound excited. all three of the Bee Gees found their start of the Falsettos but Barry could do it longer and more sustained. Fanny Be tender with my Love was also a early version of the Falsetto. Barry said he tried to stop doing it in their songs but Robin and Maurice kept telling Barry he needed to keep doing it. That the fans loved it and they were getting lots of number 1 records.

You've just experienced the incomparable Bee Gees...one of the most versatile and accomplished groups to ever bless our ears. There's no range they couldn't master, each one of them could have been the "lead" singer and they still would have rocked it. Singers, songwriters, producers, musicians...they set the bar in every category! It's why people will be still listening to their music centuries from now. I just consider myself blessed to have experienced their success in real time.
and you see what a great singer Robin is-if you go back to their older songs, you will see more of Robin
Robin's voice is just captivating. Barry and Andy had very similar voices. They all had similar yet very distinctive voices. The falsetto voice in this song belongs to Maurice.

Maurice is their secret weapon. Even though I grew up with them, I didn't get into the Bee Gees big time until this year! I'm stuck on them now. They should have their own planet for real.
Finally, someone who is picking out the different voices! I wish Barry could have a show where he gives us the details on the different parts and who is REALLY singing them!!
Nights on Broadway is where Barry discovered his valsetto. He was asked to scream in tune at the end of the song. After this he started using falsetto because it became a big seller of the disco tunes....
One of my Favs...Barry's voice is fantastic!! And there is a version of this where Barry hits high notes too. And you will learn also they do the music before they write the words...their talent is God given.
So glad to have experienced the BeeGees back in the day! So fortunate to call the music of the 70s and 80s "my music" ...nothing compares..raw talent!
Never underestimate these babes!!!❤
Sometimes they sound distinctively 3 different people, and sometimes they are identical. . Brothers, I'm guessing !!! DNA !
Chad, Barry did the falsetto in this song originally, in the recorded version. This is the song where Arif asked if any of them would scream. Barry offered and did. In this live version, Maurice did it. They all could do falsetto but this song is where it began pretty much.

Like loving brothers would do, but Andy could sing. He had a great voice himself. All the Gibb brothers were very talented.
People think the Barry sang falsetto but it was more that he could sing in a woman's key, when people sing falsetto they sing really high but can't hold a note and Barry could hold a note for a long time, mark December 12th on your calendar because HBO is coming out with a documentary of the brothers called How Can you Mend a Broken Heart, one of two songs they wrote they day they got back together after breaking up for 18 months, the other song is Lonely Days so both songs showed how much they missed each other when they weren't really on speaking terms
All Brothers can switch there Voices. Now you know it 🥰👍🕺

sandyleewhite - Robin's vibrato is far superior to Barry's and totally natural and when Robin belts it out like in "For whom the Bell Tolls" he blows Barry out of the water. That is not solely my opinion but exactly what Barry said himself. He said Robin's vibrato was heavenly. Robin could also sing falsetto and his register could go down to low baritone and even bass. Barry had more of a "pop" voice and Robin was more of a balladeer. I also grew up with the Bee Gees (born 1949 like the twins. :) )

Vocal range of these brothers is off the wall…never another group like them, ever!
I know you have learned a lot about the brothers since November, but this song and this album are personal favorites. Of course there is no way to have only one favorite Bee Gee's song. You now know what a magnificent chest voice Barry had. The unexpected way he comes in on an upbeat on the word "Here" and the way "Broad" is so deliberate it almost sounds like two syllables; well I am in heaven, and have been since 1975. All the brothers were sublime. This is a Midnight Special appearance and Mo did the falsetto embellishments, since Barry was singing melody at that point in the song. Mo could do anything. Also, Barry and Robin in unison gives a totally distinct sound than either of them apart. That is especially evident in Fanny (Be Tender With My Love) on this same album. Thank you so much for reacting to this magic.
They are so diverse Chad, soon you will learn why their music and voices have been timeless and have spanned 6 decades!! Love your reactions!!
Our Maurice has a high voice in alot of their songs...Mo also has deep vocal too... he as well as Barry n Robin are so gifted
You've done it again. Great job! Maurice's vocal range reaches down to bass, up to counter tenor (falsetto) and ev'rything between. No better background singer in the world, especially when three part harmony is needed. Most leads made by Barry and Robin, because of their ability to sing louder and more unique. Some very good leads of Mo you can find on the songs "Walking On Air", "Omega Man" as well as "Lay It On Me".
Yes! All of them have diversified voices!!! Yessa!!! I am not surprised. They are THAT good!
Mo loved the instrumental, electronics, most. Loved writing, and knew exactly where to jump in naturally. They all knew the instruments. Did what made it fun, as well as writing, entertaining, producing, singing, and loving their fans.
I laugh my ass off at the kids today that look at me like I’m insane when they hear The Bee Gees on my playlist. All they’ve ever heard was their disco covers...IF THAT....they haven’t a clue about how diverse, or how groundbreaking and influential their body of work was. You’re right about their voices, and their songwriting is equally stupendous.
I remember watching them this night on The Midnight Special and fell in love with them right then and there. It was a great show that demanded that the artists played totally live. No pre-recorded parts at all. The Bee Gees totally killed it.
It's funny when I am singing along with them, which is of course every time and I've been a huge fan since early 70's, I without thought sometimes am singing with Barry, another time Maurices part and then Robin.
