Nights on Broadway waa released in 1975 before Saturday Night Fever fame and that soundtrack release in 1977. They had hits prior to the Disco Era and beyond not just for themselves but for other artists often singing backing vocals. You listen to something like this or a post Fever tune like Tragedy or Too Much Heaven and realize how versed and smart they were as musicians whi honed their craft as childhood musicians into adulthood. So glad tye got into the Rocj N Roll Hall of Fame because even a song like Lonely Days Lonely Nights was killer

Yes he is. Not on album though. Makes me sad because I like Mo getting his respect. A lot of I people think he was just the third wheel. Kinda riding the coast tails of his brothers. He was the catalyst to the Melodie’s, especially the base. I love his quirkiness also.

@@trudyjoejenkins9357 Maurice caused much anxiety often in the studio because of his worsening alcoholism during the 1970's. He was not consistently dependable to show up and contribute-- Robin and Barry covered for him as much as they could. The crew and band members all covered for Mo. He got it under control after those frenetic 70's, until Andy died in 1988. Mo's alcoholism went out of control again until 1991-92, when he finally went sober through an AA program and enjoyed the last decade of his life, as a happy, energetic, productive artist and family man. Mo had such gifts!!! He was taken too soon~ All of these events are well- chronicled and discussed openly by Maurice and his family. You Tube is one source (interviews) and various books and documentaries.

Main Course was a major shift for the Bee Gees. Their previous album, Mr. Natural had tanked and they weren't sure what to do when they were steered to Criteria Studio in Miami by Eric Clapton. At the same time, they were hooked up with Arif Mardin, a producer know for his chops in dance music. All of these unintentional coincidences provided us with Main Course and set the stage for even deeper excursions into dance/disco that would last throughout the 70's.

Brothers, I was (and will always be) a prog rock snob. But, when I wanted to get my grove on, the BeeGees (along with Hall and Oates, The Temps, and the Commodores) were my go to group. These brothers always brought the smoothest, most polished vocal harmonies, and sometimes, like with this tune, a slappin' beat as well.

Yes! Lonely Days Lonely Nights 😊
I'm so lucky to have been in my 20's . I got to experience and see lots of great bands and performances from the later 70's ....75 and up. I graduated in 1979. At the time we didn't realize how great the difersity and raw talent but looking back I don't see another time for music like the 70's and 80's even add in the late 60's too!!❤. I'm blessed to have been able to hear many of these greats live!! 💃🔥

You are sooooo right!! I graduated in '79 too! it was a great time to be alive because of all the good music we had!!
Thank you for commenting on this gentlemen. The Beegees were really an extraordinary band.
Love the BeeGees ! Go down that rabbit hole!
I saw the Midnight Special live version multiple times. I think Maurice is providing that background falsetto vocal in addition to the bass line.

Agree bro @@trudyjoejenkins9357
their Midnight Special performance is just outstanding. what an amazing band.
A very special surprise! So many freakin hits! Masters in Songwriting, Musicianship, Production and Engineering. This is my very favorite Bee Gee’s song. Yet, their late60’sand early 70’s is fire! Like “Fanny”
Great Reaction! The Bee gees is one of the greatest bands of all time. I've seen them in concert in 1979!
All of these unintentional coincidences provided us with Main Course and set the stage for even deeper excursions into dance/disco that would last throughout the 70's.
the song where Barry and his falsetto went front and center for the rest of the way
Bee Gees have quite a library of Hits! Dive into them! You’ll recognize there songs! Their harmonies are legendary!❤
I saw The Bee Gee's live once because my mom didn't want to go alone. I'm so glad I went, for most of the show the brothers used 1 mic and made they're own blends. No one ran over each other, so good!
The Bee Gee’s harmonies are second to none! They are most recognized for their contributions to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack but you gotta listen to their earlier songs. To Love Somebody, Jive Talkin’, Fanny(Be Tender With My Love are a few that are definitely worth a listen. Iconic Hall of Famer’s.
This has the best bridge in pop history it's so sickenly sweet.
The Bee Gees are great! I was 20 years old when this record came out. Glad to grew up with this fantastic music!❤️❤️🎶🎶
Their live version of this on The Midnight Special is worth a reaction.
Love the fact while you guys are enjoying the tunes..you allow your audience to enjoy it as well. Your commentary is timed perfectly! Thank you.
My sister brought this album home when I was into Led Zep and Black Sabbath .I laughed at her but secretly the bass on this album absolutely stunned me especially Jive Talkin, ,thanx boys
The Brothers Gibb. This is my favorite song by them and they had a ton of hits. The best thing about growing up in the 60s & the 70s is that we were exposed to different types of music. You could hear CCR to Led Zeppelin to the Temptations to Three Dog Night on the same Radio Station. And while Im at it Three Dog Night is a rabbit hole you will want to enter into.
That is one of the brothers Maurice Gibb on bass! Full on talented brothers!
Absolutely gorgeous song! Bee Gees are melody- meisters!.
GREAT band...next rabbit hole haha- - -RUN TO ME - - - - Jive Talkin'- - - - Massachusetts- - - -so many great ones!
Mo is rocking that bass! Their range, harmony and song writing skills are second to none. Musical geniuses. The Brothers Brilliant never disappoint!
That was the rise of the world famous falsetto of all time - "...blame it on" - the beginning of legendary status of an voice of generation - Barrys vocals from another planet and the beginning of the triumphal procession of 44 weeks on #1 US billboard charts with twelve immortal tunes to come 🔥

It was Maurice’s doing the falsettos, he never got the credit he deserved for his harmonies and musicianship !
Remembering my sister Trina. She went to buy this 45 and accidently got the wrong artist. I'll never forget her disappointment. I laughed. I'm crying now. Her memory IS a blessing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Bee Gees. Bee Gees are the best. Everything you can imagine they've perfected. Funk, R & B, Pop, Country, this list goes on and on. Too Much Heaven. Fanny Be Tender. Stayin Alive. Tragedy. Love You Inside Out.
You guts should pull up some of the old "Midnight Special" videos with the 70's artists on there. It still blows me away how good those bands were playing on live TV with the sound they had. Just shows how much work they put into their craft. Bee Gees, Journey, Ted Nugent, AC/DC, Areosmith.......so many
you guys would have loved growing up in the 70's.... It was truly magical!
The Bees Gees had a ton of great songs before and after Saturday Night Fever. This album, Main Course, is one of their best and you should definitely react to “Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)” and “Jive Talking.” You’d also enjoy “Can’t Keep a Good Man Down” and “Subway” from the album “Children of The World.” And I’d also recommend songs from the album “Still Waters,” especially “I Surrender.”
I'm 54 yrs old and I can still remember my older brother playing that hit in his car when I was like 8 yrs old. Love how respectful and heartfelt you guys were here. Outstanding RV
These guys are incredible!!!! If you guys want to hear some crazy good vocals, react to there To Much Heaven music video.
These guys were in a state of grace with this album. Crazy good production, what with Barry discovering his falsetto during this time. Do listen to the exquisite "Fanny Be Tender" if you can. You won't regret it!
Pretty sure that's a synthe running the bass line along with a bass guitar too.....my fav Bee Gees song ever !!!!!!!
The 70's music is the greatest music on the planet.
Make a sister happy and review Bodyguard! I adore these brothers and their vibe!✌🏾🙋🏽♀️👑
Prolific songwriters and IMO this was the epitome
This song is brilliantly produced and the song is flawless. For me, what stood out the most though was tthe drums.
Dozens of great songs of any and every style and generation!
Your boy was right, every time that song hit you hit the dance floor! This was released my senior year of high school and I’d take this album to all the parties! That groove is real even years later to today! Chiguy!
Me saying I have a favorite Bee Gees song is a bit comical but I think this is their best work.
Disco was a lot of fun! Dance floors would fill up when the Bee Gees were being played!
Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake did a few skits on SNL, The Barry Gibb Talk Show. The theme is set to this song... Funny stuff.
You would enjoy the live version of this song on The Midnight Special. Many say their absolute best song was Fanny be Tender.❤❤
They've been at it for EVER...since younguns
This was the height of disco 1975 to 1979 -they had 5 of the top 10 hits on the radio -DJ's played them so much they would have "no Bee Gee" days ---after the movie "Saturday Night Fever" they were everywhere-awesome days!
The Bee Gees, will always be associated with Disco, but they wrote some amazing songs that were covered by artists from different genres. They were amazing!
If you guys only knew the reach these dudes had back in the day. Watch their life story/ documentary.
I love how this song carries to its eventual conclusion. You get a satisfying experience that feels complete. Another song that feels that way is U2's One.
Maurice plays the bass!! Flawless!!
Yeah!!! I've always loved that record. As I heard it, that is the first appearance of the soon-to--be-famous Bee Gees Disco Falsetto. A great place to start. Trivia--the Bee Gees wrote To Love Somebody for Otis Redding, but he died before he could record it.
That bass is maurice Gibb...he is a master of bass...try bodyguard. Jive talking and fanny be tender....so many!!! They write all their own music....also many for other musicians. This song also has a video from the midnight special....
You can't deny GREAT music. This right here to me sums up the Bee Gees
My favorite Bee Gees tune! As far as the sampling comment goes, DMX sampled the part of the piano line from the breakdown for his song 'The Convo'.
They are brilliant! U.S. didn't give them enough credit!
Thank you for this video, the Bee gees was, that are, and they will be BRUTAL.
Best harmonies and falsettos ever!!!
The Bee Gees rabbit hole is deep! Just keep on digging you won’t be disappointed! Great reaction ❤
The Brothers Gibb(BG's) were child prodigies in Australia. There are black and white tv clips of them performing as kids on KZread. They already had a dozen albums recorded before this one came out. They could do it all, writing, production and performing.
The song is amazing - the pace is like musical lovemaking - going after it - pausing a bit - and then bringing the song to conclusion. Oh, my!
Maurice is the bass player, he has some great tracks.
I'm enjoying this groove as much as both of you. Feel the music!!!
Bass by the one and only Maurice Gibb aka Mo. He is also the falsetto.
Hooked on Bee Gees since I was 10. I’m 56 now and love them more than ever.
The drums are brutal!

Dennis Bryon. Killer. The lick @4:57 kills me.
That's Maurice Gibb laying down that funky bass. The drums and bass the driving force for this incredible groove.
Glad you enjoyed! Me too! Barry Gibb is in the McCartney/Lennon, Paul Simon, Bob Dillion & Stevie Wonder conversation

John Denver perhaps as well?
The production on this track is insane. You just can't beat the 70s when it comes to music production.
the power of funk :)
I’m smiling so hard right now ❤So great to see y’all enjoying this! Their early stuff is awesome too. Dig in!
I listen primarily to doom metal, but the BeeGees are a guilty pleasure of mine. I grew up listening to them, because my mom was a big fan. Its great to see you guys discover how good they reallly were.
You are going to love the Bee Gees. This came out when I was in high school. Still great almost 50 years later!
This is the most underrated and greatest song by the Bee Gees. A true 70's banger!
Their live performance in The Midnight Special is a must-see!
Awesome song one of my favorites of all time. I remember the Pittsburgh Steelers winning the Super Bowl listening to this song from that year!
I’m an old rock head and I always. Jam this. Good music is good music!!!
Bee Gees are one of the greats.

Excellent !!!! People forget the Brothers Gibb were cranking out hits way before the whole "Saturday Night Fever" explosion. Great music is just great music !!!!! Please do more reactions of them, I promise you won't be disappointed !! 1975.
Awesome man I loved that song. Thanks for that I agree with all your reaction thank you
Something really cool you may want to do. Bowie and Jagger did a vid . Dancing in the streets. They did a great job.
Bee Gees were great...alot of great songs, but my absolute favorite is early BG..."How Can You Mend A Broken Heart"💔
Love your reaction, guys. You give such a good analysis. It's sad that some people may never hear or appreciate their music.
