reasons I’m a big fan of watching games: 1. games are expensive 2. consoles are expensive 3. i’m hella broke 4. i suck at video games for real. it’s so nice to be able to sit back and watch 7+ hours of a game with masterful storytelling, art design, and voice acting while someone else does all the hard parts. i’ve experienced some of my favorite games (BioShock Infinite, Resident Evil 2 and 7, and What Remains of Edith Finch among them) because I was able to watch someone else play them. god bless let’s players and god bless free watchable content.

Am I the only person that thinks Jakey is the Bob Ross of KZread content creators? Whenever you put on one of his vids, his perspective of the topic at hand is peaceful and introspectively written so you can fall asleep to it, yet simultaneously involves wild and sporadic comedic humour that makes you piss the bed laughing.

Man, I needed this video. Sometimes I fall into thinking that if I don't like playing a game, that means I don't like the game. And I wrestle with it because it makes me think that I need to either like it all, or I can't say to myself that I really like it. But most of the time I still end up spending hours trying to like a game because, like The Witcher, I've been told by so many that its a "truly flawless experience that you just don't wanna miss", and I wonder why I'm not enjoying this game that so many seem to treasure. I like the world, the story, the characters and design etc, but I feel like I forget often that the actual gameplay is mostly what makes a game fun or not, but I still keep playing hoping it will click if I push on. It sucks when games sometimes become a bit of a chore, like a list of things you just wanna tick off but aren't really enjoying, but you keep playing because you hope one of them will give you that magic feeling that others seem to be getting, that feeling you had when you played games as a kid. Also there are so many games now that are like 50+ hours. Id be ok playing a game that's 8-12 hours and half enjoying it in hopes of it clicking, but if I start playing a game like RDR2, that's allot of time. But still, unless I love it from the start, ill play up until a point where I'm sure I don't like it, but then feel obliged to finish it out some OCD, fomo feeling, or because I like the story/world/design etc and wanna see how it ends but hate the gameplay. So it just becomes this god awful slog through a game you really want to love, and thinking your just not trying hard enough to understand it or play it right or whatever. But forcing yourself to finish it usually ends up making the whole experience shitty anyway. But then I go and do it again with another game. I truly struggle with this.

This is one of the most relatable videos I've ever seen. I grew up watching my older brother play games like Bioshock, Dead Space, Gears of War, and Assassins Creed. I was always so invested in the stories and would always get mad if he played without me. I've tried playing some of them myself but I could never really get into them because of the gameplay but I loved them nonetheless, and I never knew why until now. Thank you!

I still play every now and then, and although it may be a little sad, I think my time with video games is slowly fading. But for the time being I love supporting the KZreadrs and the developers behind these amazing games.

Idk if I'm some insane quick learning freak or some crap... Or if it's because I played the previous two Witcher games. But I never found combat difficult. And the alternative movement system I only found to change much on keyboard controls, as when you use a controller you have the analog stick sensitivity to take care of that. All that alternative movement does it add a slow acceleration to out of combat movement.

24 Frames Of Nick key thing with Witcher 3 is just getting past that stupid first town. First hour in the game is a slog. Everything is boring and the game beats you over the head with how to play. Then you hit the open world and it all becomes completely different. I owned Witcher 3 for six months before I finally decided to really try and beat it and hoooooly shit was I surprised. Instead of being this medicore adventure game as I thought it was, I was instead welcomed to a living breathing world with intricate details and stories everywhere. It was absolutely fantastic. I'd highly recommend you give it another try if you can.

I played for a week or so before I lost interest and then I finally came back to it like 6 months ago. I did end up beating it, but man, it was so hard to get into. I enjoyed parts of it, but overall, it wasn’t a game I “had” to play. To each his own.

As you get older, it gets harder to invest time in video games or even meet up with old friends because of all the other responsibilities. Let's plays kind of solve this problem neatly if you manage to create a bond with the let's player(s) and since the gaming segments are usually edited into readily available 10-30 minute episodes, they are a lot easier way to access video games than trying to start a new triple A game on your own.

Coming from a person who grew up with my parents never allowing me much freedom to play games I wanted to play, It's only natural I'd watch my older siblings play stuff. I remember when my brother got Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 and me being so impressed and impacted by that game on looks alone. All my siblings ever played were football games, GTA San Andreas, sometimes Bully, Tony Hawk, and although these aren't bad at all, they didn't touch me emotionally. Shadow of the Colossus did. So when let's players started booming on KZread, I saw Pewdiepie playing it, and it reminded of those moments in my childhood of watching my brother play this fantastic game. Older now, I still couldn't play the games I wanted, we only ever had a PS2 at home. So most of the games I love, I've never played or played very little. Luckily, I finally got Steam so now I can play, but I've grown so attached to games simply by watching youtubers I like play it. I may not have as much "reputation" or experience to critic games and distinguish masterpieces from good games to shit games that easily, because a lot of the times I don't feel the gameplay. Well, sometimes I can. But storywise, music wise, character wise, I learn to love games for every little thing and defend them regardless of the opinion of others. And honestly, thank you for making this video, I had too many people to count (including my parents, who didn't let me play anything to begin with) asking me what was the point of watching other people play videogames? Well, this video says it. Thanks, Jakey.

I really only like watching games in person. I have very fond memories of watching my older brother play video games for hours, even though he'd never let me play too. There's something really cool about watching something on the TV and knowing that the person in the room with you made that happen. It felt like magic to me haha

This felt like a beautiful love letter to let's plays. My personal example is Deadly Premonition, a game which I want to know everything about, but I just cannot play. This is a recorder serenade to those games we all have. Happy Valentine's Day.

I've been struggling through Witcher 3 myself. But also, my sister's and I love video games and we enjoy playing and watching one another play. We also play with other family and friends. One of our favorite pastimes is one of us playing a scary game while the rest watch. Which usually results in is all of us screaming and crying and shouting like crazy people.
