The BEAUTIFUL Ancient Town of ZHENYUAN, Guizhou Province, China

The Beautiful ancient town of Zhenyuan is situated in the east of Guizhou Province, China. The town sits amongst limestone mountains on the turquoise Wuyang River and was a trading post for hundreds of years.
Today the town has become something of a tourist hotspot, but retains a lot of it's charm - a wonderful place to explore! Let's go!

There are countless great sceneries and historical sites all over China. You need to be young, healthy and have a pair of strong legs to go and see these beautiful places. And yes you need time to travel to these far flung places. It will take you many years and you will still find you have not covered all. This is China.

Great video, BEAUTIFUL scenery. I love those ancient places with a lot of history, you do a good job with explaining the historical background. But you're right a lot of those "ancient" places are "rebuild" new old tourist spots. The best way to spot the real ancient parts is to look at the floor stones, the big handcarved(you still can see the grooves) big hard stone slabs which are polished by the millions of feet walking across the surface. Also real ancient stone walls have somewhat irregular stones while the newbuilt stones are very smooth and regular, the same is true for the walls. You can bring the Nescafe coffeedrink bottles along with you as an emergency ration, you probably know what I'm talking about. I miss going to China very much but you know why it's not possible to visit yet.

The old is indeed charming, but I would forgive the “new old”. It is the culture and heritage that people are holding onto, and renewing. You will often find an ancient building that is in its third or fourth reincarnation in China, destroyed in wars or fire, rebuilt in good times, claiming still the same thousand years of heritage. Unlike the Roman Empire that left the ruins inspiring the “romantic feeling” of the past grandeur, the Chinese live in the present. The Chinese culture is not just inherited, but lived.
