This is absolutely fantastic to listen to. According to John, "When George first joined the group, we brought him in as a lead guitar player. I didn't know he could sing."

He also sang the least melodic, middle line throughout. Such a challenge to hear, let alone play it when you're sandwiched by strong voices singing much more distinctive, obvious lines. Genius.

Some say the bari part is the most difficult because they are often singing the leftover notes. I think it's a fair assessment. 😅

Finally! This was a great find. I’ve always wanted to hear exactly what George was singing on this song. The harmonies are so close, it’s hard to hear George’s middle part. 😊

I agree. Well blended voices singing tight harmony can make it tricky to follow each part, but that's part of the joy of it. It's fun to hear Paul and George isolated this way. Crosby, Stills, Nash were the masters. George Harrison was a baritone with a head voice he slipped in and out of with ease. Baritone voices you'd probably recognize are John Oates (Hall & Oates), Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights), Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers). There is a video on KZread that's George Harrison watching young Beatles singing This Boy. George starts to sing along, and it's so sweet to see and hear. ❤

Its Georges harmony part that makes the song whole. Without it, it still would have been good, but that third part is what gave it the part that was needed.

What fun! Thanks for creating this. I wonder why people consider George's middle part difficult? It's actually pretty standard harmony, one third above the tonic. Huh, it just struck me that not only is it quite melodic, it's quite like George's "Do You Wanna Know a Secret" from the previous year! George's voice is such a good match to John's, too--similarly intense, focused in the mask, slightly nasal. Paul here adds a gentler rounder sound that softens the ensemble, keeps them from sounding _too_ whiny! He's so good with counterpoint, too. I love the grace notes/embellishments they both add to their lines. Always tasteful and don't draw you away from the melody. (I'm greedy: the bridge is so wonderful, I'd love to hear that too!)
