This was written by Lennon in late 70s but was never completed so Paul and Ringo finished it. In the beginning of the video, you can see George, Paul and Ringo working on the song in the mid 90s but the technology at the time couldn't separate or make John's vocals more clear from the demo, so they had to wait until now to record it with the help of AI. It was pretty emotional hearing this the first time for me, me being a huge Beatles fan. There is also a trailer/documentary about the making/finishing the song. I would urge you to watch it, it's so good, peace.

This song & video gives me such nostalgic vibes. I grew up with the Beatles music as a young girl. This also makes me a little sad since John & George are no longer with us (John was murdered in 1980 & George died of cancer in 2001). But I like the video showing them all together. I am sure Paul & Ringo loved doing this tribute & it must have brought back a lot of fond memories for them. The Beatles had a great sense of humor that is shown by some of the flashbacks & like seeing the costumes from Sgt. Pepper's album.

Old guys have been calling new music "not real music" for probably hundreds of years. But in current year, it could not be more true. This is so much more advanced, than ANYTHING you hear on the radio. Key changes, chord progressions, surprises, these are all thing that every song used to have. Now it's just a melody with a bland, repetitive vocal, passing for a whole song.

John wrote it in the 70's. The rest tried to do it in the 90's for Anthology but the piano was too loud over John's vocals. AI was used to separate his voice from the piano so they could record it & used George's guitar from when they tried before. Being a fan since I was only 4 years old when they came over in 1964, I cried watching this for the 1st time. Their last song as a band.

Hello Tennessee, this is Michigan Calling...I can Tennessee you down there, I'm sitting on my roof lol...Caroline Buckman, one of the violin or viola players, received an unexpected call to contribute to the recording, unaware that it would be The Beatles' final song. Around May 1, 2022 they recorded the strings in Los Angeles CA area in a studio, with Paul there, but they were told it was a "Paul project." The secrecy surrounding the project aimed to prevent rumors from spreading. Ms. Buckman never found out the song was for the Beatles. Despite this, her mother expressed immense pride upon learning about her daughter's involvement in such a pivotal song. Tragically, Buckman succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 48 in March 2023, just 11 months after her participation in the recording. Buckman's mother, reflecting on the news received on November 1, expressed mixed emotions. "You're going to make me cry," she said. "She would have been delirious about it. It is sad, but I'm very proud."

The Now and then timeline: 1977 - John Lennon records the demo on his piano using a portable cassette recorder. 1994 - At John Lennon's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction as a solo artist, Yoko Ono gives Paul McCartney a package containing two cassette tapes, with 4 songs in total..."Free as a Bird", "Real Love", "Grow Old with Me" and "Now and Then". 1995 - Paul George and Ringo go into the studios to record "Free as a Bird" using the demo tape as a base, and adding their own instrumentations to it. It became a single and was included on Volume 1 of their "Anthology" collection. 1996 - The three remaining beatles (The Threatles) went into the studio again to record "Real Love", it became a single as well as being included on Volume 2 of the "Anthology" collection. Since the "Anthology" collection was going to be a three piece collection, they wanted to do a third song to be released on Volume 3. Since Yoko Ono" had already released "Grow Old with Me" on one of John's posthumous LPs, they decided to work with "Now and Then". They added their own instrumentation while playing back the cassette demo, but there was just too much background hum as well as an overpowering piano and times so they stopped working on it. 2021 - While directing the documentary "Get Back", Peter Jackson's team was able to create the technology to separate tracks from original recordings. 2022 - Using the technology that separated the tracks for "Get Back", they were able to isolate Lennon's vocals to a single track. Then they added George's guitars that he recorded back in 1996, Ringo added new drums and Paul added new bass. As for the string orchestra, which was conducted by Giles Martin, (Beatles producer, George Martin's son) they were told they were going to work on a new Paul McCartney single to keep it all secret. 2023 - Finally, when all the new instrumentation was completed, McCartney and Martin added portions of original vocal recordings of "Here, There and Everywhere", "Eleanor Rigby", and "Because" into the new song, which were used for background chorus vocals. And on November 2, 2023, "Now & Then" became the last Beatles song that would ever be released that features all four members of the band.

The fact that John started this song AFTER they broke up and George died before he finished this makes me think this is as not a bad song, but a cash in. It's a great song, but this was a solo John song 😊

Paul has labeled it as the LAST Beatles song or at least the only one that could possibly have all four in it. So I wouldn't look for it. Unless some other tape shows up that they had worked on but never publish there will be no more. There is more information on the making of it and considering your reaction I would suggest looking for those videos it makes it more impressive than you think.

Further thought you cannot go wrong with Queen Coldplay or ELO Dire Straits Sultans of Swing live at the Alchemy is probably the best live performance you will find please see my reply to yours below in relation to The Beatles and Mary Hopkins,

We added the Mary Hopkins song you requested to our list. We are both very familiar with Sultans of Swing, so probably can't do a true reaction to that one. Let us know if you want to request any particular songs from any of these other artists you lists. Thanks!

Beginning has all four of them in funny stripped swimsuits...from a1963 home movie a doctor found and he never developed, it was released several years ago. Later they had made promo film in late 1967 for the song "Hello Goodbye." that's why the "Sergeant Peppers" unfirms with three corned hats etc. But they are also using outtakes of the film that were never used in the official video...John in white sport coat goofing off, and all of them moving drum equipment and an amplifier off the stage...that was published on computer [online] a few years ago as outtakes from Hello Goodbye. Many other things, photos, etc. But a the end the bow was from the movie A Hard Days Night [1964], but in the original movie there was no fade out, that was down by computer tricks.

A crazy project, I thought. I wonder if it will work. I can only say: Yes!!!! The old magic was back after the very first notes. Hearing the voice of John Lennon shook me. The video is beautiful. It makes you cry. And then you realize that this really is the last Beatles song. Many thanks especially to Paul McCartney. Without his technical and musical genius, it wouldn't have been so wonderful. If you're interested, I've put two of my own clips of the song on my KZread channel ("Pearls for the Jukebox"). kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqZ-tLKeocrRcdY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJ2DxbeuisWWcso.html I'm sure you'll find one or two suggestions there. I have now subscribed to your channel and look forward to more contributions from you. 💖☯☮
