Great reaction, my friend. They played five songs that night, and this was the fifth. So the vast majority of Americans got their first take of the group singing "All My Loving." Paul was always my favorite, right from the get-go. He was incredibly handsome and quite often smiling. And his vocals were to die for. You get a taste of Paul's amazing energy and enthusiasm in this performance -- he absolutely rocks it.

It's still an exciting performance. Over ninety million people were watching and The Beatles hit it out of the park. The Beatles were presented as four personalities, all of whom were popular. This performance was so impactful to me that I spent my entire life working in pop and rock music--a direct result of my exposure to Little Richard, Elvis, and The Beatles. Loved your reaction.

Their manager, Brian Epstein, added a clause into their contract for this show having the cameras show the audience, something never done before. Beatlemania swept across the country in one fell swoop with that move. John was my favorite - the persona shown in A Hard Days's Night and his first book was much of who I was at that time (a 13-year-old boy). Over time I identified with his creative viewpoint and then with his Peace Movement work.

I was 7 when they appeared on Ed Sullivan that night. My sister had just turned 9, my neices were 6 and 2. We immediately picked our favorites right away. For me it was Paul, my sister liked George, my oldest niece liked John and we gave the 2 year old Ringo. My parents were in their early 30s when they adopted both my sister and myself, so they were almost 40. I'm sure they didn't understand why we were so crazy over them but never said a word. Not even when 3 little girls sat right in front of the tv so we could kiss the screen when our Beatle got the close-up. Poor tv. I'm sure it had slobber all over it after the show. Mom had to clean the screen after she put us to bed.

Paul has always been my favorite Beatle. Nit because he was the cute one or any of that nonsense, but because he loved being a Beatle and you could tell. It meant more to him, and so he worked his butt off. He was also the most musically gifted.

73 million Americans watched this that night. Changed everything, even longer hair for men, which didn't really change back until the early 80s except for rock stars.

Many live Beatle performances were plagued with Microphone problems.... TV wasn't yet used to presenting rock bands... funny you should refer to John's "neat-ish" hair... their hair length caused a major sensation, and many parents, including my father, became nearly apoplectic about it... most guys liked John, and most girls liked Paul, lol! I was obsessed with John Lennon from the age of 9 to 15, when I became obsessed with Frank Zappa and Lou Reed

For some reason when I watched it live, I felt as though I had to choose a favorite and itcwas Paul because he was cute. I was 11 then in 1964. I watched both performances. I such a kick out of you youngsters enjoying something I have loved for 60 years. Yet I have one son, who looks like George said the beatles sound very weak. So disappointing.

After that, I spent most of my time waiting for them on the radio and buying every magazine with them in it. The son who looks like George was actually due on Feb 25, George's birthday and his middle name is Richard(Ringos real name) but was born earlier. And my oldest son was born on July 7, like Ringo. And MY second son,I named Paul.

When that time, John's mike volume was too low. We can hear almost Paul's voice. The balance setting was not good.

It was 1964. 😂 And the sound was hard to change quickly from the act before theirs, the cast from the Broadway musical, Oliver, with a very young Davy Jones as the Artful Dodger. He peered at The Beatles from backstage and decided he wanted to be in a band, which he did with The Monkees.

It sounds like the sounds has been tampered with the Beatles were much tighter than this.
