Me and my friend are writing an animated TV show, so I’ve been doing as much research into animation as possible. I found your videos this morning and I absolutely love all of it. Thank you so much for all the work you are doing, I really appreciate it and I just subscribed and will continue watching your videos because you break the animation styles down so easily. I am not an animator and I was sheltered growing up, so I missed most of these shows. I never knew so much went in to animation, it’s so fucking brilliant! Again, thank you for your work.

I've been creating an idea for one myself for over a decade and recently, I decided to make it an independent show instead of selling it to a big company. You never know what they'll do with your projects.
you deserve all the views in the world
Question, is Cyberchase technically the bean mouth style? The animation itself seems to be different from the shows discussed in this video and the fact that it came out in 2002 really puts a wrench in the timeline but to my untrained eyes, the character designs fit exactly into the bean mouth style. They have those bean shaped heads as well as tube shaped limbs.

It certainly has some features that could make it an early example. However, once you start getting into the designs outside the three humans it's more in line with the Neo Hannah Barberra style. In a way it's a lot like Kid Cosmic.

Season 8 was the last
Really glad Trick Moon was on this tier list, "diet sonic" is a perfect way to describe the style and the critique of it lacking an identity in visuals and writing is fair, there's only so much that can be squeezed into 8 minutes.
I'm creating a future cartoon show and I will not be designing my characters this way. I want my characters to look like they came from Once Upon a Forest or a Yoram Gross cartoon or a classic Nelvana cartoon from the 80s.
I’ve been always wondering with the bean mouth style but: is putting just straight long lines in a different mouth expression counts as a cal arts/bean mouth style like KND, Simpsons/Futurama, Dexter’s Lab, Camp Lazlo, (sometimes) SpongeBob, (2013) Mickey Mouse, Courage The Cowardly Dog?

No. That tends to be done in a lot of cartoons. The bean mouth style tends to use a lot of simple round shapes for characters (Especially for protagonists). Of course resolving the mouth into a bean shape is the easiest to spot mark of this style.

@@Shoop400 oh okay because when a cartoon character smiles or frowns with the teeth out, the teeth on top shows while the teeth on the bottom just hides for some reason and when a characters two top and bottom teeth shows at the same time it just transforms into just 4 lines down , I’ve always been curious about that.

@@tooncentralanimation Generally because it saves time. Also natural smiles tend to favor the upper teeth. Like smiles that show off both rows of teeth tend to mean different things like insincerity or aggression. Sometimes it is a matter of style since the drawn teeth don't actually follow the curvature of mouth either. There are tons of reasons why one could do it.

No more animation variety style from what a cartoon, oh yeah! cartoons, random cartoons, sketches on sesame street and "mad" from cartoon network, I can't think of anything of anything else but those
"Bean mouth style" marks the end of 20th century animation as well as the animation graphics used from what a cartoon, oh yeah! Cartoons, random cartoons and the sketches from sesame street that used animators and studios as well as "mad" the tv series from cartoon network and so on
Calfartz style
I have one recommendation on delivering lines, maybe go faster, but not too fast y'know? Just more energetic and less like you woke up from an 80 year nap
I used to like Steven universe... Slowly... It got worse... Much much worse... I mean, toxic fandom much?
I personally was never a fan of that style. I didn't think much of it when Adventure Time started but I grew a hatred toward it when other studios followed suit. The designs for Teen Titans Go and The Loud House are better but still not what I'm doing for my characters.
I'm not the type who likes to follow trends. I wish studios would allow creators to just do their own thing.
Beanhead Antics, sir, the conversion point is soon. A+ vid, saw you in LIMC comments on the instruments video and disagreed about audio recording after, which is ???, But you make animatics so i to let it go immediately. And not to plug myself too much, but I also make animations. Just saying
