OPR is the best, I just made a viking army rule set to use for both aos and gdf, now im making a imperium esc army but so far its just an army book containing regular human army forces and a basic combat squad of relatively lore accurate space marines.

For me, it’s not that they made Custodes also female, it’s that they ignored the badass females that already work WITH the Custodes.

Wargaming isn't just GW scifi/ fantasy. Tons of historical and other sci fi/ fantasy games out there. You name a period, there's probably rules / figures for it. Just go to a site like Northstar Games, Brigade Games, Warlord Games to see a selection of various rule/ figure types. The list is very, very long of other games.

14:31 People who oppose this change or who are pointing out the gaslighting are getting banned. Even people complaining about the bans are getting banned. With the bans they can give the impression that the Warhammer 40K fan community is for this (because everyone not for it is banned), but in reality this just makes this whole situation worse and radicalizes people who get banned and who think this behavior is unjust. Nothing good will come from this. This is the wrong route.

What does getting banned mean, can they no longer purchase Warhammer things? Have there pictures been sent to every LGS to make sure the ban sticks? Do you believe Games Workshop cares what their players on message boards think? Oh you sweet summer child. They have one of the worst reputations in the tabletop space and their video games have been wildly inconsistent for years. Until it affects their bottom line, they are happy that Warhammer is being talked about at all. GW were most likely giddy when the story got picked up by the likes of Phillip Defranco.

I think the problem is- the climate politically speaking is either woke or non-woke, nothing in-between. In this polarizing time, when you go against those who are angry about the female custodes it automatically puts you in the opposite side. I do think when you say things like "also, I'm not a racist" do not help dispel the thoughts of those who put you on a blacklist, It could be seen as implying that people who disagree with you, and deemed you as "woke" are, and I dont think its fair to paint with such a large brush on that one, even if its done in satire. I think the best thing to do would be just to not wade into politics. Those are just my thought, do what seemeth good in your eyes. Peace be with you.

They practice the collectable trading card game release model. That means they have to purge their range every few years and force everyone to buy new stuff. My circle is proudly displayed in my case, but it's not so playable. The community in Ontario died sometime in 3rd, but I quit after the 3rd edition playtest.

why should you care if he does or doesn't what you should be thinking is will he walk out of another project because TW wasn't the only project he has walked away from when the now 41 year old man who doesn't like what he hears he walks he's no saviour to anyone especially not to fans of WH he has little to no experience as a producer or writer he produces word salads on his social media to make him look more intelligent than he does he is incredibly boring in interviews same old bs and no I don't think he has the ability to pull off any of this.. Amazon hopefully wont do what they did with Rings or Time and hopefully go in a more Fallout approach... But there is a lot more evidence on HC not being a team player just some people are reluctant to go looking for the evidence......

When I get upset at a company, it usually takes me about 10 years to revisit the offending company. I received some raw burger buddies from Burger King back around 1990 or so. I didn't buy anything from Burger King until 2004. While dinning at a local Perkins Restaurant, I received silverware that had dried food on it. I got up, left the establishment and didn't return to a Perkins for over 10 years. Games Workshop Upgraded Epic and then got rid of Epic. It took me at least 5 years to really look at buying any 40K models.

Yeah, or when apparently, the Rail weapons used by the Tau's were retconned into being bought from the Votanns and adapted by them instead of being an invention of the Empire, which is a major retcon about one of our iconic weapons, but apparently, that's fine XD And even the fact that Horus is not completely destroyed, another major retcon in the lore, no one cares, the Emperor said he forgave Horus just before killin him? It's fine, nothing wrong with that. There's maybe some females in the 10 000 dudes who did nothing for the vast majority of imperial history? Outrage XD

Warhammer actually is unique - not in terms of quality or the topic covered, but quantity. The amount of novels published about it is immense, even if I personally don't understand their appeal.

I'm not suprised anymore, seeing as GW has been messing about with the lore in a half baked way for some time now and creating promising things only to ignore them shortly afterwards, that or screwing things up. Like the Necrons becoming more akin to the tomb kings from the now zombified warhammer fantasy battles or the way they went about the lore for the primaries, as well as letting us think the squats are coming back as a faction (instead of small groups in other GW ganes) only to reveal nope its like squats but not squats. For me the way they scrapped on us chaos space marines and removing any options for chaos marines in the imperial armoury list. So I can understand how female Custodies lore was the last straw for so many people, more so with the way GW has been dealing with this issue in the typical half thought out knee jerk way it often does. I would not be suprised if GW hates us customers/fans base but loves our money.

That blacklist is hilarious. Was scrolling through the names like "uhuh... mhm... yep, I know and like all of those" xD

In fact the only even slightly mono-gender army is the all female Battle Sisters army that worship a God Queen who, Cannoncally, Killed OPR's Not God-Emperor for being a freak and got off scott free. The Black Library is a form of Marketing. People who are getting in to the game may check out some of the books that pertain to the armies they are looking to play. After reading the Lore, they will most likely have a better idea of what models they want to invest in. Also people who already play the game may pick read Warhammer books and buy more models because they were inspired by further reading of the Lore.

I just wish whatever happens it forces them to reduce their miniature price by 80%

If after all the insane price gouging, the $400 FOMO short run special boxed armies to get one damn model, the endless retcons, the churning of codexes so expensive models have an expiration date, the ever endless power creep, and the entire shitty way GW has treated supporters over the last almost 30 years, I'm going to simply die laughing if all it took to bring GW to its knees was the rumor they're putting titties on a Space Marine model. Oh my god, that is f'ing hilarious!!! I love wargaming but there's way too many far better games with excellent backstories to much care what GW does these days.

The thing is, IMO, it's really about all the things you just mentioned. A lot of times when married couples blow up and initiate a divorce, it's over some incredibly petty thing that just becomes a flashpoint for years of resentment and mistrust over far more significant factors that just never got resolved. People have been bottling it up for ages over how GW has treated this franchise and its fans, and this may just be the tiny puff of air that finally makes the bottle burst.

@@icdice_VT... It's a hobby built around a wargame. The only thing that's been consistent throughout 40K's history is the fact that it's a game. Some hobbyists may only participate in parts of the hobby, some collect models, some are focused on the lore, some are obsessed with tournaments while others prefer casual games... Some do all of it, some only do certain parts of it... and all those folks are 40k hobbyists. But from the start, it was a game and everything around it exists because of the game. If 40k the game dies, it all dies. GW is a game company.

This anger, however widespread it might really be (my guess is "not very"), is all strange to me, as I am pretty sure I have a female space marine miniature Citadel/GW released in the 80s, and I certainly have multiple female Imperial Guard miniatures made by Citadel/GW. So while they have never made many female models for the Imperium of Man, women have been officially part of the Imperium's armed forces from a very early stage. Why wouldn't there be female Custodes?

Thanks for the rundown of other options for great minis games. Looking forward to crafting up my Relicblade terrain and minis.

Ok I have an idea, since the Femstode is cannon now, she could be (the only one) but the potential mother of the star child through immaculate conception……

I am playing One Page Rules and have been loving it so much more. And using non games workshop models. "Piper makes" is an incredible 3d stl creator for tau and eldar.

I was into warhammer since the mid 90s. I've abandoned GW utterly in the past few years. My group stopped playing shortly after 9th edition. Tried a couple of 10th edition game and gave it away. I don't even download free copies of the codex anymore. One Page Rules is so much better. Recently we have started playing Kings of War as well. Ill probably keep listening to the audiobooks but I certainly won't be paying for any of them. GW can burn as far as I'm concerned.

Amazon disregarded The Sisters of Silence and Sisters of Battle, the former are able to directly talk to The Emperor and the latter are more bad ass than SM or Castotes. But if you were a fan you would have known that.

A huge amount of warhammer "players" like me, aren't real wargamers, yet spend a lot of money on GWs products. We buy the miniatures and rule books (for the lore and because they are awesome), paint the things and collect armies, without playing the actual tabletop game for years.

Anuerin Bevan was a monster. He was responsible for the destruction of the network of charity hospitals which existed prior to the State-controlled NHS. He replaced efficient, caring hospitals with what we've got now.

I'm taking those Little Green Army Men toys you can get in buckets for about $20 and using those incorporated into my WWII: Operation Whitebox games. So much less expensive and a hell of a lot more fun. No putting things together, no painting, no pain in the ass, no fuss. Just straight up fun. The sculpts ain't great but they don't have to be perfect, they just need to work

EoB is a great channel for when you *don't* want to hear about everything "getting worse" or a bunch of controversy, and just want to enjoy your hobby.

I think you might be my sister ...... my dad works at Nintendo too!

My favorite bit on this was on the podcast Trashfuture where one of the hosts said about a Daily Mail article "Now I didn't know they included woke points in the army balance"

Yep, expecially as GW are now just a bunch of money grabbing shits. Our lassie here is right about other rule sets though; there are any number of rule sets that can be used to fight Grim Dark games and there are an awful lot of alternative figures out there. Games like Xenos Rampant, 30k, 40k, aliens, bug hunting, zombies you can stat the lot and use any figures you want.

It's almost like they didn't see what mra clowns did when there were too many girls in their Star wars movies.

My dad doesn’t work at Nintendo, but I think this whole recent fiasco pangs of ‘any news is good news’ lacklustre marketing. I really got into test of honour. It's given me reason to learn about sengoku jedai japan history to make my ashigaru light foot in historically acurate coloured armour and setup good scenarios.

If Amazon had wanted a female in power armour in a new show, they could have had one in Fallout.

Actually, a lot of right-wing groups make lists like this. And it gets significantly worse when they get in power - my home country has several ever-growing lists of people and organizations, each list imposing limits on their legal rights.

Oh to late my guy, you can have female Custodians and Space Marines has been the case for ages. In fact the only even slightly mono-gender army is the all female Battle Sisters army that worship a God Queen who, Cannoncally, Killed OPR's Not God-Emperor for being a freak and got off scott free. Literally ascending to actual Godhood Fighting Daemons while the Clone Betamale of the God King Malds.

The issue with space marines isn't the power armour, it's that they're very inhuman mutants and it's been long estabilished that this process only works on barely-teen males, since it hijacks the regular development process (and produces stuff like extra hearts)

The rumour goes (and I'm not saying I necessarily believe it) that Amazon wanted a female marine, GW and Henry said 'no, that's against the lore, how about a Sororitas instead?', Amazon didn't fancy that as too religious (dumb if true, have they even met the Imperium?), GW/Henry said 'ok, how about an Inquisitor then?', Amazon said 'no, we want her to still be superhuman out of the armour', so GW/Henry held their noses and offered a Custodes as a compromise.

@@PreceptorGrant If that's the case then I'm doubly angry at Amazon as either an inquisitor or an Adepta Sororitas would have been an amazing choice. I really enjoyed how the latter for instance was written in the recent Rogue Trader RPG which I loved in its entirety.

I'm not about to start rage-mobbing anyone without something more concrete than a 4chan denizen's word, or Arch's 'friend at Amazon says his friend at Amazon says' And yes, all the love for Sister Argenta. I gave her Kick and Martial Arts, plus every other extra attack I could find. She's an absolute bolter-beast now.

Because they don't have a problem with trans people. I was only ever into WH40k for the lore. You know. Those books that Black Library publishes. For money. And yes, there's plenty of alternatives to warhammer for sci fi and fantasy fiction.

Just remember Harry walked away from The Witcher because the show writers decided to go their own way and disregard the original storyline.

In my country we had it, i dont recommend it the tax burden is brutal and the service subpar.

Regarding the drinkers video, I believe that he was saying that while Astartes are bad ass, the Custodes are a tier or 2 above them. Hence the entire introduction of the Space Marines. Hes also spoken of Warhammer in many of his streams, highlighting his enjoyment of the setting/models. Hes also 100% bang on with his observations regarding this whole thing, something which no one has really tried to address. Most seem content to call him a tourist without actually explaining why he may be off base.

The show runners of Witcher, which is easily shown to be just them being salty that he was trying to keep the show lore accurate, which is also why he ended up leaving. I believe what she said was sarcasm in this vid.

As someone who likes to paint cool miniatures, I dont really care. When first heard about this, my first thought was, "Does this mean we will get female custodes miniatures?" The answer is no Does this mean we will get a cool novel explaining all this? Nope I also couldn't think of a worse way to introduce female custodes. Makes me think they are purposefully sabotaging it.

I own a ludicrous amount of warhammer stuff, games, books, etc, just not minis, they cost so much and im always a half price book buyer to avoid that in the book costs. My folks live in UK, I know the minis are cheaper there, tried to get them to mail me some a few times, but never happened. Oh well

Maybe because they didn't cut ou entire armies and number of AoS miniatures? ˆˆ They over the Beasts of Chaos to the Old World, where they originally belonged, and you're free to continue to play Beasts of Chaos, you'll even have free rules contrary to everyone else who'll have to pay 45 bucks for their rules XD Aside from that they're retiring some miniatures, like they regularly do, because GW don't really intend to keep production of all their miniatures for ever. Plus, we know that some if not most of them are going to be replaced by new models, so it'll likely be a win ˆˆ

When it comes to agenda drive stuff like this I always ask, not What, "but WHY?" If the "WHY" is politically motivated to push an agenda, for instance an agenda based on personal ideologies, then it's a problem. If that's the reason then it's not being done for the betterment of the IP, which is always a problem.

Not to change the subject but in reference to Broken Anvil Scam I just notice that they are still selling STLs on MY Mini Factory .

Just remind people: Game Workshop exists to Sell Miniatures.... Then go ahead and remind them further: Game Workshop has a history of how it's I.P. is handled by other companies, and it has always been... firm. To the point it has killed popular video game series because it couldn't relax that hold any. To think that an American company would get some unique treatment is a little unusual, but then the people using the word 'woke conspiracy' do think there is someone in the shadow mind-controlling C.E.O.'s.

tbf amazon is huge and i could theoretically see them pushing for such a change. i dont think it's likely in this case though. when you consier statements from the blick library writers, the history of gw and gw becoming more popular, a step like this was only a question of when not if. i'm with luetin, i'm honestly surprised they didnt get female space marines going with primaris marines.

You know you have a way of explaining things that helps take the knee jerk reaction of anger out of things. Big difference here, with the last Star Wars Trilogy it was completely rushed with no coherent story in place. Nothing planned out at all. It was just a money grab and it really shows. Outside of that, I really hear nothing but mostly good things about Star Wars, it's just those movies for the most part that was the problem. That and just how pushed Rey was.

I’ve liked most of your content and I agree that minis should be cheaper, but claiming that a person is a “casual” fan because they care about the lore is a pretty low blow, particularly since you have to be aware of the “filthy casual” meme. The fact that you have to justify it here and it just makes you sound worse doesn’t help, particularly since you throw the “I’m not racist!” In here. I agree our hobbies should be cheaper, I can’t agree that retcons are just great and if you care about them, you’re a lesser fan.

Not really, there's nothing definitively 40k in Rebel Moon. All of the familiar stuff you recognise is from the classic Sci Fi things that GW half-inched from back in the day. Rebel Moon just shares the same influences (plus 7 Samurai)
