I normally don't wait this long to post a review but here we are. I purchased this kzread.infoUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB in early December 2023 as a replacement for another brand that started to chip and I couldn't get the basket clean. I have other Ninja branded items and the quality and longevity of their products is bar none so I figured I would give this one a try. The ceramic crisping plate was the decision maker here. I had been replacing all my non-stick pans with ceramic with great success so I thought this would be the same with the air fryer. It was. It doesn't matter what I throw into this air fryer, cleaning up is EASY (and I don't have a dishwasher).
Alternatively, brush some oil on the pork skin before going into the air fryer a second time. You will get a very crispy skin just like the fried version. 😊

Yes great idea!
Marion, in the Philippines, we make pork belly by boiling the meat until tender. Dry it and place it in the fridge overnight. After that, you deep fry. The meat will be very tender.
In the Netherlands most Chinese takeaways first oven roast their pork belly, make big slices of it, freeze those and then when an order is placed they deep-fry the frozen pork belly slice and it really tastes amazing.

the crispy sound of pork skin being sliced or chewed is just ugh, i just cant explain it fully into words of how good that sounds🤤😋 now im hungry in the middle of the night
One of my favorite KZread chefs! Thanks for another great video Marion!
Marion I have to say I love this new little series .. I think it's more candid, more "you" .. keep it up! ❤️

Brilliant thank you Marion..your description of cooking methods are brilliant and work wonderfully.

Well DONE ! I've also done it on a gas grill, indirect heat. Deep frying is best BUT can be dangerous if the meat has liquids. It can 'explode' ! If frying, I would do it outdoors with an induction cooktop or a butane gas burner with enough BTUh (>14k)
Wish I could add a photo. I tried cooking pork belly for the first time tonight & in the air fryer after watching this video. Super happy with the results. My kids gobbled it up. Was very delicious. The best!
That sound! 🤤 Surprisingly air fryer also can make it pretty crunchy, would like to try using air fryer. Thanks for making this video.
I’ve done pork belly in the air fryer a few times now. But I do it opposite - highest temp to start until there’s crackle (with a tiny bit of water in the bottom because the rendered pork fat will smoke a lot). Then temp down for a few more minutes to finish cooking. I kind of just did it the same way I would cook a pork roast in a normal oven - highest the lower temp. Always a winner in our house.
to be honest Marion... I watch and use ur recipes to never be the hero and just be quick and delicious
Hi Marion.Indeed my Airfryer is a lifesaver and one of the best gift my husband have ever given to me especially in cooking pork belly with perfect crackling everytime,no fail💛Thank you for sharing the bits and detailed way off cooking pork belly💛😋More power...My family watched you since Masterchef and followed you since then....
Yesh! Would love to see more video like this! 🥰😋
Hi Marion, loved, loved, loved this comparison. What brand of air fryer did you use, I can’t find it listed in the drop down info. Thank you
Thank you, this has become a looked forward to meal by my family.
I live alone, and never deep fry, since I bought my air fryer. All that hot oil and mess aren’t for me. Definitely going for pork belly using air fryer method. Last night I roasted a whole chicken in the air fryer. Perfection 👍 Thanks so much for the Stanley knife tip, love your videos and recipes, Marion. ❤️

I, too, live alone and as a newbie Carnivore, I seek to cook my meat products with the least amount of add-ons as possible. I do think I shall purchase Five Spice and rub into meat. I notice Marion's temperatures seemed rather low until (smacking head with flat of hand), I live in USA! Fahrenheit, not Celsius! The idea of a large amount of hot oil in a solitary kitchen -- ya' know, I think my Ninja Air Fryer is my best option!
yuss! im gonna do it too! I'll give the airfryer a whirl!! You're my favourite channel love your stuff
Brush the skin with white vinegar for the low temp it drys it out then oil on high amazing results with hardly any clean up
Just in time... Will do this tomorrow using an air fryer. And traditionally, we deep fry it. Yes, oil will fly here and there. Hahaha.
Love whatever you cook 👩🍳 anyway.
I enjoyed watching your video showing food that make you feeling good. I always wished good luck and your channel grows day by day. Thanks

I can’t wait to see the leftover pork belly recipes 😂
I reckon with your Stanley Knife Method, you could get perfect results any way you want to cook it. Flamethrower? BBQ? Volcano?

Yummy! Something for Sunday brunch
I think air frying is a lot healthier than deep frying. I would go for that method.
I will have to try the air fryer version for this. I'm nervous about fatty cuts of meat put in my air fryer because I was cooking even our regular pork sausages (brats in the States) and it was smoking a bit due to the fat bursting from the casing. I even poked holes in advance, too. I do prefer the wok or oven method for pork belly, but will have to try the air fryer next time. Thanks, Marion!
That was fun & now I’m having serious pork belly cravings at midnight.
Nothing beats the traditional deep-fried Moo Grob! But I'm leaving all the mess of cleaning up and re-using the oil to street vendor uncles/aunties. At home = air fry only :D
that cracks made me drooling over my keyboard !! 🤤
I've had deep fried pork belly at a Gao Lao vendor in Silom Bangkok. Best pork belly I've ever had!

convenience and no oil - yes i’ll go for air fryer, but if you’re looking for a “wow factor” of level of taste, crunch and etc for pork belly, deep frying is the best option ☺️☺️☺️

Can’t wait to see ❤️. Have tried it in the air fryer and it turned out pretty good .
Looks, really yummy❤️ can you please try making air-fryer battered chicken wings and drumsticks.
The amount of pork belly that I consume the only option for me would be air fryer. On one hand the "healthy" air fryer version life 10 years longer, deep fried pork belly reduces my life by 10 years. Guess what I want to live longer to eat more pork belly.

It would only ever be unhealthy if you fried it in vegetable oil. Butter and animal fats are good for you.
I've mastered both. Without a doubt air fryer is best!
It’s Delicious 🤤
Less oil, less clean up, almost hands free cook with air fryer. Tnx Marion
For me the air fryer really shines for weekday dinner or even for lunch or a snack. Heating up a slice of pie in the air fryer makes it a million times better then in the microwave and just like a microwave all I need to do is set the timer and heat and than I can prep whatever else I need for the meal. If I get to it 2 minutes after it beebs it doesn’t make a difference. So the air fryer method for the pork belly is convenient enough that I would be able to do it for a regular weekday dinner. Prep it the night before, quickly cook it off while preparing the side dish. But yeah deep frying is definitely worth the effort, but dangerous.
The moment you bit into the deep fried version I knew it would win hands down. It’s like krupuk udang (shrimp chips) - they just work better deep fried!
I like your earing. It suits you. Keep wearing this type of earing. Thanks for sharing your roast pork recipe. 👍

You're 1 of my favorite youtube chef....THANK YOU for this new ideas from you Chef Marion😊😊😊
Deep fried pork belly is actually a common cooking method in the Philippines. We call it Lechon(g) Kawali. Or the pork legs/thigh, deep fried we call it Kirspy Pata
Thank you for this. You can't replace deep frying with air frying. Yes, you can achieve similar results but deep frying will still be better.
Although I have access to a deep fryer, looks like an air fryer for moi. I find pork moo easier to digest. Yummy thank you chef.🤠
I saw another video where the lady put the pork belly in the air fryer at 390 for 40 minutes and it looked very crispy.
Wish I watched this before I made my pork belly yesterday with a air fryer, didn't turned out as I expected, it was rock hard lol. Anyway thanks for the deep frying recipe, I'll give that a go next time.
Hey Marion… what’s the air fryer your using? Thanks
My Air Fryer (8L) is my go to Pork Belly cooker. Great result and very good crackle every time. Ditto for roasting a whole Chicken or cooking a Lamb Rack to die for. I also do my roast Potatoes ad Vegies in the AF. I use Aluminum Trays (20 x 20) as a baking dish to contain the mess.

Great tips here Dave❤
I score mine up and down rather than diagonal - salt it the day before then roast it for 60 mins the next day - then under the grill in the oven until the skin finishes crackling - I can then cut along the score lines into small cube shapes - I serve it as a starter with three dips - sugar in one dip soy sauce in another and Pernod in the third one - delicious
I have an air fryer...I have some pork belly...let's do this! Thank you, Marion , You and Noi are my favorite KZread chef's
I never thought I would ever make Char Sui pork but I saw it made in an air fryer and now I think I will be able to do it. I love my air fryer as I am trying foods and recipes I never thought I would.

Can you re freeze your pork after drying out and seasoning? Will it stay dry? Have been doing the inch of salt recipe for a while now for family dinners (it's a major hit) and tried the air fryer one last time (good but not great). Gonna try the deep fryer one next! Would be good to have dried pork on hand though ready to go
airfryer never fails when it comes to roasted pork!
Oh yes! It's like chicharon!
My issue with air fryers is that any crisp I get is so short lived. 🙃
Pork Belly comparison between Air Fryer and Wok was great. Of course using less oil in Air Fryer speaks volumes but you can't compare that crispy pork belly crunch from the wok. It was definitely a winner for me however; depending on the occasion and time I have, I would probably use both techniques.
Love it 😘
This has to be the happiest woman on earth
I keep my air fryer pork belly in the foil rap for the entire cook time. Seems to keep the meat moist.
Marion - what is the brand/model of your air fryer?
Id go for deep fry. In the northern part of Philippines, it's a famous food item
My mom uses the air fryer and it turns out so well! On the stove top is scary lol
I just airfried a pork belly for dinner tonight. It was the crispiest skin I've ever done. Didn't have to score the skin. The whole cook took one hour.
Team Wok Fryer here!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Old school is the King.
What air fryer do you use ?
I`m gonna go with deep fried too. 😊
i don't have many gadgets, but because of this series i am slowly leaning towards getting a fryer, and my counter space is very small RELUCTANTLY, I am team air fryer...ughhh
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Doing the airfryer way!! Yummy, yum! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions!🥘🍲🌭🌮🍕🍟🍿🥗🦐🍝🍠☕🗽🚑🚒🚓
hi marion. just watched your vid and your air fryer interest me, what brand of air fryer are you using. my mom insist me to buy one
I have never tried the deep fried version although I know it's cooked that way in some parts of Asia. The skin looks decent which is a nice surprise. I have yet to see a good result with the airfryer though. Cooking in the oven alot if Chinese chefs cook the belly in high heat before reducing the temp but the result is the meat being a bit chewy. Once place in London poaches the meat first then preps the skin. The result is super juicy meat ,fat rendered nicely with super light puffy skin that you know will still be crispy when cold. Being cold is when you know if the skin has been a success or not as if tight crispness results in chewy crispy when cold. Love the experimentation here though. 👍
with all those ominous deep frying in the wok... why has no one a deep fryer??? they're like 30 bucks...
Nothing beats a deep fried pork belly 👍
The best way is the danish way to make this, and its called flæskesteg on danish, we use salt and bayleafs
I really want to know the best way in Tucson Az to get rid of the oil after ?

Pour it back in the bottle when cold , dispose ,
The aluminum foil coil was a nice idea. Props to that.
Air fryer! yesss
Nice job. I think the air fryer version would have been better if it was able to go hotter. I've had good results in an oven at 220 C, but better under a grill/broiler. You have to watch it like a hawk, though, as it can burn the skin quickly. Foil is your friend here.
How about baking soda with the salt for the airfryer version? Might make the crunch more fluffier. Saw it in another video
i wrecked my oven the last time i tried to make crispy pork belly, but i have an air fryer that has yet to be splattered in oil and marinade so i'm going to try this
Maybe try a whole roasted chicken from air fryer??? 😋🤭❣️
I purchased yhe hole puncher(meat tenderizer) just for pork belly they dont cost much i paid around $8, i seen some for as little as $4
The oil was always going to be the winner as the bubbles in the skin are related to the water in the skin being turned into steam. The higher the temperature you apply the easier it happens.
If the air fryer one gets some oil on the top for the second fry, would it turn out better?
so for the airfryer she did 30min at 120dg Celsius and then 10min at 200. That's all the info I wanted so someone might look for it. :)
More airfried recipes please..😊
Can you do a video how to make pork cracklings too??
