I feel bad for her too. How hurtful to be spoken to like that by the person her father married. It sounds like they once had a healthy relationship. Guests are interviewed and asked a lot of questions before they go on the show. Step daughter probably talked about a lot more history with that woman and the editing crew chose to highlight her talking about getting new countertops and other gifts to fire up the interaction even more. These shows do that and it’s infuriating. I’m not sure this woman needed much poking though. She was even aggressive toward the other woman being scammed by the same scammer! These elderly people who are sending scammers thousands, even millions of dollars are ensuring a crappy nursing home for themselves in the future. The kind of money this woman has/had, could pay for in home care. I don’t see anyone being willing to take her into their home to care for her, not after she’s spent her deceased husband’s money on scammers and disrespected his daughter on television like that. Also, her name and information is on scammer’s radar now as someone who takes the bait. Someone will try her again, especially if she doesn’t change her personal information, such as email and phone number.

Why on Earth do they go to another country to find a man when there’s probably all kinds of widowers who would love to have a companion. Not a very nice woman to treat her step daughter so terribly and also the poor little lady in the audience who was so sweet and had also been through it, so she could have had a friend there but she’s so full of pride that she can’t admit that she’s made major mistakes with her decision making. It would be terrible to watch someone throw away what took a lifetime of hard work to some scammer on the other side of the planet.

When I was in my mid-late 30’s, I was on a dating site. I had a couple guys try to scam me. They didn’t but they can try to take advantage of people of all ages.

She’d rather lose family than a scammer

I understand her, wanting to be loved, and all of that, but the venomous attitude that she has towards her stepdaughter was unacceptable.

So unfortunately she’s been a very sick and lonely elderly woman who felt like she had someone that loved her . She felt special, her feelings are hurt . She had lost her husband after 40 years and she wanted to be loved again . Her anger is because she was vulnerable . She’s sad about not just being scammed but with the reality that the love she believed was real was all in her head . She has a psychiatric problem . Depression is real she was willing to ignore the obvious signs to not feel the grief of losing her husband. Actually really sad for her.

Normally I feel sad or exasperated for people who get scammed by these online scammers. But this lady is so cruel and vile that I have no sympathy for her.

This woman is lashing out at the people that love her and wanted to help her. Now that she knows the truth she is so embarrassed that she allowed herself to be scammed of over $200,000 that she thinks she hates her own family. She seriously needs to forgive and realize how those family members had her best interest in mind. And clear to the end she was stubbornly holding onto the lie.

It means it's become part of their identity, and when you rock the foundations of someone's identity, they feel extremely vulnerable and extremely threatened. It takes a very self aware person, and a person very grounded and confident in their identity to accept hard truths like that, and most people barely have any idea who they are, so they cling onto small things that make them feel significant, and when you strip that away all of a sudden they feel naked, exposed, and hollow.

Telling that other victim "I don't want you in my life" was contextually irrational and came out of the blue. This disjointed thinking although subtle sounds familiar to me. She wasn't just being mean.

It is hard to watch what a scam can do to family relationships..

I can see why she couldn’t find “love” in real life because who could deal? She’s insufferable and I don’t feel bad for her.

There’s no one getting any of my money. And I don’t loan money either. I worked too hard my whole lifetime to just give it away. Why is this lady SO mad at her step daughter? She has fears that she has been taken advantage of and is taking it out on her step daughter. And I must say, my grandmother would NEVER act this way EVER! Her hateful language and lack of manners most likely have her parents turning in their graves. I know she is hurt and scared and it is coming out in anger but please, have more manners and act like a lady!!!

That relationship with the step daughter is gone, just like that. It's going to be hard to repair that relationship again.

I had an experience with someone online. He didn't ask for money, but because of this experience, I don't trust people online.

Right on! My husband passed 8 years ago (30+) years of marriage. I tried to date on a online dating service. ONCE was enough for me. I maybe lonely BUT not desperate. Lots of scammers out there be smart.

I'm nearly 60yo and I'm pretty happy with my cat lol. It took me years to get free from my ex-husband. Never again! Learn to be happy without a man.

That scam of having others deposit money into her account so she can transfer it to the "boyfriend" is actually illegal. I believe I heard of a woman who was charged with scamming for doing that exact thing, and she went to prison.

I’m from an Italian family, and as soon as she said his name was Mantini, I knew he was a scam artist. I am almost positive Mantini is not a legitimate Italian name.Mancini, yes. But not Mantini LOL

So sad this happens 😢
