The Basics of Escape From Tarkov Explained in 13 Minutes

The Official Escape From Tarkov Wiki: escapefromtarkov.fandom.com/w...
______________________________________________________________________
Escape From Tarkov JUST wiped, today. Everyone is excited to check out all that is new with the game, and there is plenty to see and experience. And while we will certainly be going over many aspects together in the future, I wanted to try my hand at a real tutorial-style of video. Over the course of about 13 minutes, I hope to explain the basic premise of what Tarkov is, the fundamental mechanics of the game, and some of the important Tarkov-isms that exist because it's such an obtuse kind of game. Whether you are brand new to the game, or a returning veteran, I hope this video is both informal as well as entertaining with what is presented to you. Enjoy!

    Fantastic VO, but would've been helpful with you showing the map screen when talking about the maps, explaining what the acronym PMC is (if this is a true basic video), and allowing your VO the match the settings, having gameplay over VO that isn't related it confusing and not easy to follow

    Weapon customization is not very late into the game. All you need is a workbench and unlock the flea market which is level 15 but customization is also able to be done when you open the workbench at your trader levels.

  • @Jirasu

    I was more specifically referring to having the freedom of building whatever weapons you like, and not having to worry about whether you can buy certain parts. Yes, the flea market makes this easier, but sometimes parts are more expensive there than just from the traders.

    What are your thoughts on the new map?? Aside from that, what was the one new feature added to .14 you were the most excited for and still the happiest about now that you've had some time with the new patch?

    The new maps design is awesome, however in practice the spawns are now THE worst in the entire game. And it's not even close. Too many people too close together, it sucks. The new recoil fundamentally changes the entire game which is amazing. Very happy with how it is now. Just need to relearn recoil patterns now.

    Thinking about getting a PC for this game as theres nothing on console that gets anywhere near this type of gameplay (maybe slightly with Dayz, which i enjoy). My main concern is with cheaters/hackers. I know thats a touchy subject, but im really concerned with spending a lot of time on a game where cheaters can take hours of your progress. I have no issue losing in a fair fight, but the cheating issue does concern me. I guess my question is, how bad is it?

  • @Jirasu

    @Jirasu

    To be brutally honest, from personal experience, I don't run into cheaters/hackers that are 100% blatantly cheating. The game's netcode is rough enough that most of the time, deaths can be chalked up to dying around a corner, or someone hitting a really nasty shot. There are cheaters; I won't deny that. But again, from my anecdotal personal experience, I could probably count on one hand how many times I've died to someone who, again, was being super blatant about it. Sure, maybe sometimes people have information they are not supposed to, but as a new player, you won't know they aren't supposed to until you have a couple hundred hours in the game. Don't let the cheaters deter you from this experience. It's a magical one regardless of them, and you won't find many other games that can illicit the same visceral responses Tarkov does. I hope this was helpful :)

    I’ve only jumped into practice raid so far. But everytime I do it comes up with no missions or anything. Is that how the game is even not in practice mode? Or am I missing something. Let me know please. Thank you

  • @Jirasu

    @Jirasu

    If you haven't already, you need to go to each of the traders, and check for their tasks. There should be a tab next to trading called "Tasks". There you will find any missions that are available to you. In offline raids, you can technically do them, however the progress won't actually count towards your account, because offline raids don't carry over onto the live game. Hope this helps!

    @@SaintDyl Not a problem at all dood! Glad to help. I mean yeah, online raids are where quests can actually get completed, but there is nothing wrong doing a test run in an offline raid so you know what to do and how to get it accomplished!

  • @Jirasu

    The goal is to survive and thrive in your raids. Level your character up, level up the traders to unlock new equipment for purchase. And overall have raids that you want to tell your friends about. You don't technically, "escape". At least not yet...

    So, what's a SCAV then?

  • @Jirasu

    @Jirasu

    5 ай бұрын

    A disposable character that comes up every 20-25 min depending on some in-game factor. It will have random gear and extra items when you spawn in. And the AI are not hostile to you unless you shoot them or another non-hostile player scav. By extracting, killing bad player scavs, other PMCs, or taking coop extractions, you will raise your scav karma. Which lowers the cooldown of your scav, as well as some other bonuses.

    If your friend is willing to teach, and you are willing to learn, then I think the game is an experience everyone needs to at least try. It's not cheap, so if you can' t afford it obviously wait, but if you have the money to spend on a new game, I would recommend it. it's going to be hard, you are going to struggle a LOT at the start, but the more time you put into it, it becomes one of the most satisfying FPS games ever.
