In the most recent TarkovTV podcast, something that was brought up in passing was the potential change to running your scav. Where instead of being able to choose the map you'd like to play, you are loaded into a map randomly without the option of being able to choose. Now, people are immediately going to not be okay with this idea. But, let's break it down and go through why it's a bigger deal than you might think, and also potentially better for the game as a whole.

idk which music you chose for this video, but it kind of sounds like two songs playing over each other, and I personally find it really distracting... just letting you know, otherwise the core and narration of this video is really good, as always!

Did you feel that way in the first half or the second half of the video? I only used two songs, and they don't overlap at any point. Just curious so I can make better song choices in the future

@@Jirasu Ah, I see, yeah I mean the song in the first half. I clicked off at around 4:24 because I literally got overwhelmed with the music "overpowering" your narration. The second half is a bit better, the drums are less in the foreground of the title and the song has a slower BPM all around, making it (imho) a bit better suitable as background-music. But still... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ General points / recommendations, which I personally would prefer as background-music: - No vocals. I'm already listening & concentrating on your voice, music with vocals and text feels like someone is constantly talking into you out of the background - Pick a genre and don't use songs that mix two different genres. I think the problem for me with the first song lies in it feeling like a combination of ambient- (long, steady, calm melodies made with a soothing synth for example) and rock-/metal-music (the high-BPM, accelerating and crash-cymbal-heavy drums which partly overtone the melodie). Both of those genres fit fine as background-music itself (as an example for the rock-music, think of geneburns EFT-Soundtracks) but combined they become a "new" mix, which my brain actively tries to decipher, shifting my concentration from the narration to the music. Another genre that always fits is Ambiente (basically all OSTs made for games, because they are specifically made to ENHANCE an experience from the background, without shifting the focus actively onto the music) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you want some examples...: ... for the latter, ambiente music, take a look at Dynamedion's album for the game Anno 2205: music.kzread.info/head/OLAK5uy_nkHQUZwJ5F51Pm4rxxRTWC0NHd9cJ6qes&si=K0dIyUsYKHXAAbjY or "Into the unknown" by Simon Chylinski (a Subnautica Soundtrack): music.kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnmuu9WafNCdnto.html&si=_20GgKa19P9ILPVr This is personally one of my favourites (with the other Soundtracks from Subnautica), I usually listen to them at work, when I'm concentrated on programming and want something non-distracting in the background. ... if you'd like something more progressive (the style I think you went for in your video) keep it relatively simple, with only a few instruments and a lot of repetition. This makes it possible for the listener to get used to the musics rythm in the background, while not overwhelming him with new "information" every few seconds. One good example for that, that I can think of, would be "The Grip" by Tangerine Dream: (notice how it's also an original GTA V Soundtrack) music.kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaRkzKaog93gZ6g.html&si=0PggaBYh7fJHEpQx or "We were set up", also by Tangerine Dream: music.kzread.info/dash/bejne/k6OfwdKAkcand9o.html&si=AFXY5i_7A-vofzu5 ooorrrr of course the official soundtracks of EFT ;-) That's always a good choice for your videos, because that music has a direct connection to the game. Another advantage of OSTs (Original SoundTracks) is, that they are usually copyright-free, so you can't even get striked for them (because you can usually hear them while uploading gameplay too, because they are an official PART of said gameplay). So you don't even have to ask for the rights to use that music. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In conclusion: - Try to avoid vocals - Pick a genre and stick with it during a video, avoid mixing them in one section (multiple "chapters" with multiple different vibes ( = soundtracks) are fine tho) - For inspiration: Game- / Movie - OSTs are always a good place to start listening. They're free to use, are designed as background-music and you can usually find all the different vibes you are searching for there. Just my two cents on the topic, I hope I can help you a bit with that. Also, this is just my opinion, it's still your channel, use whatever you think is fitting, I'm not speaking for your whole viewership of course ^^ Jonas 🙂 Edit: A few typos and some more example-links added :)

@@foxxstrike Oh wow, you didn't need to waste your time writing that out for me! I appreciate the effort. In hindsight, the first song not only had vocals, but was just too loud to begin with. Audio balance is so difficult sometimes and finding the right music and then getting the right balance is tricky. Plus, my voice could've also been louder too. Thanks for the huge response, much appreciated!

@@Jirasu No worries, it's not a waste of time :D I like to help where I can! I just hope the feedback can be put to good use ^^ Although I have to say that the audiobalance was good this time, your voice and the music were exactly loud enough in my opinion! Just the choice of music was a bit off, I think
