@@lowellcalavera6045 Yeah, but we had the best music. I was in my twenties in the late sixties, living in Westport Ct. and later New York City (I came here from Denmark as an au pair to Westport) those were magical years. The music, parties, wouldn't trade it for anything.

An interesting thing you do that I think is worth pointing out is that you tend to keep the melody in your arrangement on the second and third strings, tossing in the other strings as appropriate for color. After all, you could probably play the entire melody within the fifth position. But this way, the timbre of the "voice" remains consistent in ways that switching to and from the thicker and thinner strings wouldn't. Clever, but often left unspoken.

This is by far the best solo I have ever heard for this song. I'm going to try to learn as much as I can and apply it to my band. Great video and thank you!

Beautiful playing and great lesson as always, Eric! In addition to the wonderful Robbie Robertson recently joining The Great Gig In The Sky, just a few weeks ago an episode on this song was released in the outstanding podcast series, A History Of Rock Music In 500 Songs. I highly recommend this podcast to any and all fans of rock music. It's superb.

Been ill for a month or so, didn’t know Robertson had died til now, Jesus, the band are one of the best things me n my father bond over n altho maybe RR was coloured as the villain from time to time it’s undoubtedly true that without him we wouldn’t halve a good number of the finest music the last century gave us. Eeeeeessh can’t believe my dad hadn’t mentioned it to me, very odd, rest in piece RR
