The author does like to from scratch, kzread.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Oh how I love those Ford tractors! A mid 60s 3000 diesel is what I learned on. Few things at that time could make a 12yr old boy happier. I loved bushogging and if given the opportunity today I would probably love it just as much as I did almost 50yrs ago. thanks for sharing,it brings back alot of happy memories!

A- Consider slowing down, B- Yanking a saw out of a pinch like that is going to tear the rubber mounts and/or pull the bar mount studs loose from the crankcase. Just use a wedge in the kerf and life will be easier. Love the drone footage from high above.

Great shots with all the angles. I’ve had great success when cutting down sweet gums immediately after the cut I paint the freshly cut stump with concentrated glyphosate. Tractor Supply brand. If you wait too long the stump will heal over and it won’t work. This works great on any freshly cut hardwood that would otherwise send up new growth. I keep an old paint brush, gloves and glyphosate in my utility box on the back of my tractor. Hang in there.

The older diesel tractors are much ahead of the newer ones. You don't have fuel and time wasting regeneration, you're not tied to dealer specific maintenance. A good independent tractor mechanic can care for it. No complicated electronics. Nice cutter you're using. I'd guess that it's a standard gearbox, not J BAR specific. Good video. HAPPY HOGS!

I saw this on another tractor related channel that I trust, and he mentioned that some people, especially the old timers, would drain the gear oil out of the rotary cutter gear box and just pump it full of grease and call it good. It's one of those things that makes you think "humm, why not?". The gear box on a cutter is about as simple as they come but I know squat so take it for what it's worth, lol....

I have an old J-Bar Finish Mower that I bought used ten years ago and I used it for a lot of mowing that should probably have been a job for the brush hog. It lasted me a good long while until the spindle bearings went. I called J-Bar and, even though it was some twenty years old, they had all the parts I would have needed to get it back up and running. Well... I saw a new big box brand deal on sale and impulse took over. I won't say what brand I got, but its been nothing but trouble for me and I now regret that decision. More than one occasion I have considered selling the new shiny and using that money to fix my old J-bar. Friends... if you can get your hands on a J-bar anything... know that its going to be built like a tank and, when you do end up needing parts, you can just call them up with your serial number and they'll take care of you.

I have had the same trouble you had with high objects. I use my Kubota with the bucket about 6 or 8 inches of the ground in uncharted territory so it hits what I can't see. Good luck.
