The Backswing Creates the Downswing

If you are trying to improve your golf swing and add more power to your swing, you must change directions correctly. We call this the transition. The transition is when you move from backswing to downswing.
If you are having trouble making solid contact and compressing the ball, you must watch this video to see how Moe Norman's Single Plane Swing improves your golf swing transition.
About the Single Plane Golf Swing
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

That one shot of Moe from behind (green pants) really shows the tension relationship in the transition

Todd>>information: The great teacher Jimmy Ballard always said that its "IN" the hip joint and not "ON" the hip joint! They always accused him of teaching a sway, but YOU have to have a brace leg and go INTO THE HIP and not on the hip!!

Thanks. Would like to hear you comment on putting it all together with RHYTHM. Your iron swing seems to have a 1 2. cadence.

The Single Plane swing efficiently produces a 3:1 ratio of backswing to downswing. This means the downswing is three times faster than the backswing. When you effectively hit your positions, this timing is produced naturally.

@@ToddGravesGolf one(probably only)positive of playing in wind between gusts, mainly noted with irons, is that by less slowing (still not rushing) of my backswing, I seemed to deliver more cleanly in the downswing.

Thank you Todd. Would you say that you are starting the backswing with the pelvis turning and that leads to the brazing of the trail leg? If not, can you make video specific to the movements in the back swing? What starts the back swing, which muscles to use etc.

No. Sequentially, Everything (arms, torso, pelvis, start together) however, the pelvis (because of the trail leg brace) stops first. This his how it also moves first int the downswing.

Great stuff, Todd. Transition is the key (for every moving part that goes to and fro...) and mine is still only fair but improving thanks to your instruction. Now, once that darn lead leg stays "in the slipper" and doesn't straighten, I will be set. :)

IMO you have to feel a lot less movement back and forth (backswing and downswing) in this swing than you think. The actual movements are slight. It's almost as if you "bounce" from stop to stop, braced trail leg to braced front leg. Trying to imagine the positions and then recreate them in your swing, at least in my case, invariably leads to too much sway back and forth and too much upper body movement. You lose the advantage of the single plane (i.e. simple and direct path from address to impact).
