Ойындар

This video showcases the most spectacular move played in Round 7 of the 2023 World Team Carcassonne Online Championship. In an inconspicuous early middlegame during the Italy vs Malaysia match, the Italian player spices things up with the fields in a creative fashion.

Nice creativity from Italian player. Black player had an opportunity to block that entrance but didn't see it coming (e.g. using cccr tile). Even more, black player placed monastery helping red player to get into field with road tile.

yeah, the cccf was a big mistake, but black was worried about the city.

Yes, I think Black most likely didn't see the idea of Red getting into the farm via the left side and, unsuspecting of the danger, decided to simply add themself a monastery point.

First instinct is avobe the black meeple, pointing down with a farmer. The other idea is the same, but pointing up, creating an EvilHamster that is totally up for grabs, but since red's field has chances of growing, there are good chances that the EvilHamster favors black more than red. So I would go with the first idea. Now let's watch the rest of the video and see how bad I am :P

I'm embarassed because I saw Alexey's suggestion and I don't know why I didn't go for it. I thought I had to do something about that 3 point farmer. But if you do what Alexey suggested, you can connect and block the black farmer later anyway (puting there the second curve, instead of the first one).

create an evil hamster with road+monestary and meeple the field, but if you win the 50-50 then lock out the black field and hope to place the monetary+ road at west bringing the farmer into the field. Of course red should also try to join on the right using curve+straight road as a backup plan. Red is most certainly going to win the meeple advantage like that as the field can grow bigger at northwest, but the black farmer is restricted to 3 points

I'd go with a farmer, to the right of black's recently played tile, hoping to connect with a straight line + 4 extra points. trying to block black's farmer is only a 50/50, and I'd hope to maybe block him later. EDIT: After watching the video, I think red's move was better. But following up on his move, I wonder if it wouldn't have been even better, to build up a second evil hamster spot, just to the right of black's stranded farmer (with some road tile) for yourself. Your farmer would be connected to the main farm in all cases, and black's meeple trapped about 50% of the time.

Great idea about the second evil hamster! I guess Red wanted to use the road monastery on the left to bring two meeples at the same time. And the sequence got him the same number of points as a an evil hamster anyway: 4 points for the road plus 5 for the road monastery when he drew it.

Hello, I have been watching your videos, and they are useful, but I feel like all of the good information is scattered all around the videos. So sometimes I learn something from a 2 minute segment of a 30 minute video. Maybe consider creating some shorter 5-10 minute videos in which you cover specific topics, for example a Beginner's strategy guide, The importance of Monasteries , (you mention they are very important and you have talked about them in "previous videos" but I still haven't found the video where you talk about it), one in which you discuss all the Carcassone specific terms that you use, etc. Thanks a lot for the content.

Great suggestion! Will do my best after the World Cup is over.
