Hello! Part time assistant to a professional cat groomer, honestly not that bad but typically when shaving the chest you have an assistant, to pull the front paws tight so you don’t get skin by accident. Much more difficult alone but you would want to grip one paw in the opposite hand, hold kitten down with and operate the shaver with the other while kitty is on their back. Much easier said than done. But since this is for function not fashion, I think as long as hair is coming off and Foxy is unharmed you’re doing great 😂

I bet if you could get her used to being held upside down, it would be easier? A lot of cats find that position uncomfortable/vulnerable, but flipping her over regularly and treating her to lots of snuggles and praise will make it easier when you need to do it for shaving. Like playing with their paws a lot to get them more comfortable with nail trims, lol. I accidently did this to my cat Zoey just because I found holding her like that super cute (and then I needed to regularly inspect her belly due to hair pulling), and now she takes it completely in stride, but my other cat Sherlock hates it and struggles!

Fennec Foxes are some of the most gorgeous creatures with the bestest of ears and it’s very fitting to name her after them. I feel for you so much, for the pain on cutting some whiskers. I know you didn't mean to, and they will grow back. She actually did very well with her bath, hardly struggled at all. I'm sure she felt sooo much better after her bath, getting all that nasty gunk off her skin. And her reaction at the end seems to be her saying how much she loves you. Thank you so much for taking such good care of this little one and all of the others! Fingers crossed for the specialist visit. 🙏 for good news.

theres also some great kitten ear/head covers that can make it way easier to dry them faster. I've seen some great use of them making sure the cats more calm and relaxed similar to how a burrito works. The best ones I've seen are the happy hoodie and could be a great tool to have especially for kittens who need to be cleaned a lot.

I already make sure any cat I meet is fixed and make friends with all the cats in my neighborhoods everywhere I go. My uncle who has been living undiagnosed on the spectrum but struggles with life, find cats are the only thing that brings him joy, so I’ve been thinking about trying to start a rescue with him after learning your story. Thanks for being a wonderful, proud, and strong person in this world of chaos. we have to bathe my cat in the bathtub because she’s eleven pounds (used to live with a grandma). probably diabetic but she’s living her best life.

I wonder if a toothbrush instead of a cloth would help calm her. Also stretch the skin when shaving. I also recommend in bony areas to move the skin to more muscle/flat areas and shave it their. My household fosters dogs but I do like 90-99% of the care which also means I do all of the grooming. Except for some baths because they trigger my eczema on my hands so I can't give all 3/week baths one of our dog needs right now.

I’m a stay at home cat mom and I would love to have her and can devote time to her.

Spa day for Foxy 😍

I had a lot of kittens as a kid, we lived on a farm and they were technically wild cats that we fed and they hung out and had babies. One kitten and only ever one, was attacked by a opossum. The kitten was a few weeks or months old and sadly lost one eye and half of its lower jaw. Our golden retriever who was very elderly absotly moped our porch with the opossum. And I mean literally turned our porch red with the thing. She was very protective of the kittens and would only let one of us near the Injured one. My dad wouldn't let us take them to the vet cause we couldn't have afforded it even if we wanted sadly. However. She was drinking water and managing to eat. At one point we thought she had died and been eaten because she disappeared for 4 weeks. We found her 10 feet from the house in our cow field meowing a storm. She had lost her other eye and became intensely emaciated. My grandfather sadly decided she should be put down and I believe he did that with a hunting rifle. I won't speak to the ethics of how this was handled because I don't really remember all the details. I just remember it breaking my heart.

My cat hates the towel part the worst of her baths, it’s baffling. She dislikes most of the bath routine but the towel is her personal hell.

Awww, from my mum's many moggies I've known scruffy ones, velcro types who pick up everything, pongy ones, but they all are fastidious in their own ways. Poor little gel must feel like she's missing a bit of herself. Bless little Foxi and bless you for the work you do. My mum moved to the French countryside in 2000, cats were seen as pest control, she's paid for many sterilisations and also had to get very sick ones put to sleep as the locals seemed to realise that the Anglais liked cats and many an unwell moggu got left at the gate. They and things have got so much better, at least the vets dont look at you dideways for bringing in a non farm animal but my point is, its been tough emotionally at times, what you do is sooo much bigger so must take a lot out of you in every way. So bless you kind oerson😺😸

Hey lady, I have a cat who necessitated the removal of all lit candles from my home, because she was enamored with the flame (she not so smart). She kept burning her whiskers off before I could catch her. I had to give up my fave candles, or only burn them in closed off rooms when I was present. We almost renamed her Wick. Didn’t seem to really bother her, they grow back, even when singed off.

My cat has a normal jaw and swallows almost all his food whole. He hardly ever chews dry food and never chews wet food, and most of the cats I've had have done the same. My vet says this is normal for a grown cat. It seems like the movement of the jaw only helps him move the food to the right place. If Foxy has some movement in the lower jaw, she should be able to manipulate the food as she grows as long as she doesn't have the teeth getting in the way. She might just need more practice with the tongue and jaw. What does your vet say about moving her on to slightly more solid food? It looks like she's doing really well.
