This is one of my most favorite scenes from one of my most favorite episodes from the TV show Bonanza!
This is actor Jonathan Harris playing the role of Charles Dickens as a special guest-star in the episode titled "A Passion for Justice" Season 5 Ep 136 in case you want to watch the whole episode on youtube ok!
I LOVE this. NO NO! I ABSALUTELY "ADORE" This MAGNIFICANT Masterpiece of a Document because it was so brilliantly written to PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF YOU, ME, OUR FAMILIES and most importantly the FUTURE OF THIS NATION!
I really like hearing it recited in an English accent as it was originally! Now that's just FREAKIN KEWL!

Every time I see Johnathan Harris, I think of him shouting, "SILENCE, YOU BUBBLE-HEADED BOO BEE". - He is a wonderful actor, capable of making everyone smile!

Never was a big fan of the show; watched it on occasion now and then. But this scene, where he was quoting from the Declaration of Independence, it really brings a tear to my eye.

By high school he had already cultivated an English accent because he detested his Bronx one. No, he has had an English accent for most of his life. Well before this appearance.

This one of three beautiful scenes in the episode. The second is Ben Cartwright's admonishing the hoi-polloi for their base motives in convicting Dickens at trial. The other beautiful scene comes earlier in the episode when Dickens opens up to Hoss Cartwright on why he refuses to give way on the pirating of his works. Hoss loves the Ponderosa, the Cartwright's ranch, and feels it is part of his being. Similarly, Dickens' soul is in his writings. He asks: what if there were no laws to protect the Ponderosa? What would this mean for Hoss? It is a very ennobling defense of property.

Yeah I 100% agree. This is some of the best acting that Ive ever seen though and one of my most favorite Bonanza scenes. The intro scenes of the Bonanza episode "The Ride" is my number 1 though. Adam & Toby sitting out on the front porch of the Stageline cabin. Just simply a classic masterpiece as far as I am concerned. :) Thanks for your comment :)
