Such a great video Fake Caroline. You've done a fantastic job since taking over the channel!

I'm not drawn to conspiracy theories but I really enjoy your series and how you structure these videos, entertaining them heavily in the first half (albeit with lots of skepticism baked in) and then tearing them down in the second half, it's a fun progression, it makes for an interesting story, and you're very well suited to it! I realize you're still narrowing in on what your channel is post-Beatles and maybe this isn't where you land permanently but I'm enjoying the ride on these, thanks for all your research and presentation!

Somehow I'd never heard of this conspiracy theory. The most ridiculous part might be the "evidence" of the clothing change. First of all, as you pointed out, changing your wardrobe doesn't prove anything. But also, if "Melissa" were truly hired to impersonate Avril Lavigne, wouldn't Avril's management have told her to keep the same style to be as convincing as possible? To me, the clothing change almost disproves the conspiracy more than it proves it. Anyone trying to impersonate a dead person would continue to dress like them so as not to arouse suspicion.

Caroline, this is a really intelligent and empathetic discussion on an important topic. I reject almost all conspiracy explanations for things, but it's too easy (and not correct) to say believers are dumb or uneducated.

The next video needs to be what happened to Caroline since the last video that she is now replaced by a body double? There were far too many clues in this video so simply ignore. The truth will out.

If you listen to her voice in old interviews in early 2000s, you can easily notice how different it is to her voice now, that's so weird!

Honestly, the signiture is probably the most compelling piece of "evidence." My signiture is approximately equal to my signiture when I was 17. The way I write my letters is exactly the same (I'm 38 now). I do think there are way too many similarities for this theory to be true, but Avril did undergo a rapid change in an extremely short period of time. I am sure part of it was a revrand, but it is definitely interesting. Also, her voice really did change a lot. That part is the most bizarre to me.

Caroline, I watched and loved all of your Beatles reaction videos along with others that I really enjoyed (as you well know), but I have to say that this is by far your best video to date, because unlike all the others it's not just about the stated subject matter, be it a conspiracy theory, album or song, but also and especially about the things that underlie it, be it what made the Beatles so popular, good and successful, why is Joni Mitchell's music so great, or, in this instance, why do so many people believe in even the silliest and most demonstrably untrue or unlikely conspiracy theories. So, well done, Caroline, and bravo! I should also add that as your skills as a KZread video creator improve, both technically and presentation-wise, I have to wonder if you're aiming to someday do this for a living, as a sort of freelance or independent video journalist, focusing mostly on music-related topics but perhaps others as well, who doesn't just do this for fun and kicks and maybe a couple of bucks here and there on the side. I mean you already do this for fun here, quite well, and for an actual living, elsewhere, so why the heck not? It doesn't have to be instead of your music career, but in addition to it. Just wondering and all the best. 😀

I only found out about this theory recently and I find it extremely disturbing. If it's true and she committed sui*de then we've been listening to and supporting a fraud and not being loyal to the original. The music company should be *. I like the Eternal Pop Princess and it'd be an utter disgrace to continue listening to songs by anyone other than her when they're using her name. If we go by the voice changes, then Madonna is not Madonna. Listen to her sing "like a Virgin" vs say "The power of goodbye". Her voice back then was much higher toned. Or, maybe, voices change with age, weight, health?

I think the things that got me to believe this theory the most is the personality changes. Not the clothes she wears or whatever. The signature is one because people get used to signing their names a certain way throughout their lives. Studies have shown massive differences in signatures of people that have had major personality changes present in various mental illnesses like Dissociative Identity Disorder or Amnesia. Also, the accent and words she uses versus how she would speak when she was younger. Not just the words but how she would say them in the different time frames. I realize people can change over the course of many years so I am not presenting any of this as proof, but interesting indications that I have noticed. Her voice does sound very different to me now than it did when she was younger as well though. I went to school to study criminals when I was younger. Mostly just for personal interest. I ended up studying multiple murderers specifically because they were the most interesting, but their personality changes are much more noticeable and pronounced than this situation but there are some similarities in the changes of personality. Things more obvious of a severe personality change that could effect physical traits such as the sound of a voice, the look of the eyes or a signature. For example, a signature can tell you everything about a person's mood and outlook of their life in that very moment if you know what to look for. Now, I'm not a specialist in signatures but in the old signature, it seems the hard angles and sharp lines indicating a good level of confidence and excitement. This would indicate being emotionally in a good place in her life. The newer signature shows less compassion for the subject, lack of motivation. Perhaps no effect of confidence in herself and ultimately a feeling of going through the motions with a feeling of despair or sickness of the situation. In other words, she's imitating happiness and she's not really into it. So, that's just what I notice. I'm not saying whether these are two different people or not but - Occum's Razor states that whenever you have two ambivalent ideas, the simplest idea always tends to be the correct one. We all have our own opinions.

Her facial features keep changing. Her body type keeps changing. Her voice keeps changing. Why does she not make a sworn statement that she, as Avril Lavigne, has appeared that Avril Lavigne in all Avril Lavigne appearances?

Like you touched on, there needs to be a motive for these conspiracy theories and the motive is almost always money. In the early 2000s was there a lot of money on the line? Yes, loads! So understandable why it would be believed then. A body double comes in to keep making the record companies millions. Would there be the same motive in the 10s or even the 2020s? No! Her popularity is a fraction of what it was and so the money she's making will also be a fraction of what it was. Why go through all this trouble still? Do you think the public at large would be asking where Avril has been for the last 20 years? No, she'd be forgotten about and no one would care.

Was the name Melissa written on Avrils hand photo shopped on or was it real, cause if its real, then who is Melissa?

Avril Lavigne, or the person who originally appeared as Avril Lavigne, is alive. It is just other people have appeared as Avril Lavigne since 2002.

Fans should request Avril and Melissa pose in a video together/photo or go on a talk show/pod cast together that will end the conspiracy theories. Simples!!

In August 2001 Avril (French Bastille Princess) found her Brigadier who was attended a Military Recruitment, manpower recruitment YOU session at Melbourne Defence Plaza, Australia. The key to the issue is this : body doubles are NOT a Conspiracy. If Melissa Vandella was an actual body double - all we need to do - is to find Melissa Vandella.

What I don’t get is why would they bother?? Someone like John Lennon I could see it, but Avril? No disrespect to her, but there wasn’t anything super unique about her that would warrant the record label doing this.

That before and after conspiracy photo of Avril is completely photoshopped her nose was never that big! Great video, after seeing so many conspiracy theories over the years though, i have come to the conclusion that the main reason for them is, that there`s a huge number of idiots and nutcases outthere, who never bothers to read or check on anything😄
