It actually isn't that weird. When you are sick, most of the time you don't have the energy to put in the energy required to keep up with your social life. I used to have Lyme disease too and I legit lost every single one of my friends except for one, because I just wasn't able to keep up with the friendships. A friendship is a two way street and when it's one sided it can die quick and easily. Only the people that care about you more than anything will be able to keep it alive. It's sad and unfair, but it's pretty understandable

Let's be real, early, and mid 2000's, this girl had a very huge influence.

Brussel Sprouts yeah you know who will really be there, even if you can have normal fun, I was on the hospital for 9 days and on a wheelchair for two months, fake friends stop talking to me till a got better and o could go to parties and be fun... real friend were on the hospital and push my wheelchair when we go out, avril is such an inspiration, I love her music

I think she asked that question just to focus on the fact that she wrote that song first, that was a way to start a conversation..i think that was more like an re-iteration of what Avril was saying before by saying "so you wrote THIS particular song firstly" as a way of getting her answers on that particular song. Whats so hard to understand and be angry about?

Now at almost 40 years old I see this is very true, you never really have more than 5 friends, thinking otherwise is just fooling yourself. That song head above water brought me to tears when I first heard it. It helps me when I'm struggling. I was very sick in the hospital for a lil while and I listened to this song everyday. Please keep making music you are the best your so beautiful and talented

She is sooo humble and I respect and love her for that .

Sadly one finds who one's real friends are when life take an unwanted detour. I became very ill twenty years ago from complications related to the arthritis in my back which caused both digestive and breathing problems. The short version is I lost everything and was abandoned by almost everyone I knew. Only my Mom had my back and when she needed help caring for Dad I helped her, and when dementia over took her mind recently I cared for her round the clock, I owed her every moment I gave. Now that Mom is gone I really know how alone I am in this world, but I have for the most part my health back, I know how to deal with the pain when it comes, and manage my arthritis. A big thank you to Avril Lavigne for sharing this story it really got to me emotionally, and bless her Mother for caring for her when she truly needed her.

It’s very true and a “big life lesson” when you’re going through trials of any kind. You find out who your true and honest real friends are.... I am learning that now with grief, loss, and deep sadness. Some have come out of the wood works to be there, others have drifted away becoming invisible even. However, even in the valleys there are lessons. I love Avril been a fan since I was a teenager, “Head Above Water” is a testimony and anthem. sometimes we need to be alone in that space because we need to depend on God alone and not our friends or family. ive been there at one point i had nobody. Only God. and he got me out of that space. so it helps me in life to be independent and only dependent on God. ur stronger that way.
