I think I understand Gaijin's strategy here. The way to fix the issue of subsonic attackers in top BR is to saturate the matchmaker with as many of them as humanly possible for all nations. Ingenious.

@@MerkavaMk.4 official since Smin said that the Gripen was coming this year. After Sons of Attila, there’s only enough time for the end of the year update which is usually in December. For the F/A-18, that’s speculation due to its Radar system being added on the new Italian harrier

I love Italian prop aircraft, or well did until half of them got overtiered like Japanese props.

IRL it had f18 radar added so it could carry aim120s, air to air loaded is a placeholder until ARHs are added in future patch

The Harriers are a great example of why I think there should be different BR‘s for Air RB and Ground RB.

The high bypass turbofan engine characteristic as on the Harrier is like that because it's more efficient at exchanging power to actual thrust. Two turbofan engines, one low bypass and the other high bypass, if they're making the same power the high bypass one will have more thrust even at high speed. Though the thrust produced is falling, the aircraft speed is rising faster, so the power that is used for accelerating is still growing, just slowing down. This is somewhat similar to a "normal" piston engine, like in a car. While the RPM are higher than the maximum torque, increasing the engine speed will make torque drop, but power will increase (to a point).

I have wanted this thing for a long time, and while I'm confused as to why we're getting it before the US tech tree, I'm so happy to see it. One of my favorite jets in the world, and one of my favorite planes in all of history. It's just beautiful, functionally unique, has a really interesting history behind it, and its role in warfare is really cool to me. Even if it ends up being trash in War Thunder due to being a subsonic attacker in top-tier, I still can't wait to fly it. If I can make it work even a little bit, have some fun picking up kills here and there or getting into dogfights using thrust vectoring, it'll be worth it. It'll also be a great 11.7 CAS option to use while spading the Ariete AMV, finally having Mavericks in Italy as well as Paveways.

viff. thats how you use it. 30% is ideal for dogfights, sometimes more to force the overshoot. thats how i used the gr7. this will be nice tho cuz the B+ carried amraams and had hornet radar irl.

Damn that updated RWR seems pretty damn helpful especially for a smoothbrain like me. I havent dabbled into high tier to much because i just dont understand it enough

Lighting pod + MavDs = Great for ground RB and killing Pantsirs on my GR7

It is perfect for ground rb. Italy now with Hungary, DM53 for Ariete, Freccia and this plane really got a nice line up. The Mavericks will be strong against pantsir and you can still bring up to 6 GBU12. Only thing that is missing, is a better helicopter maybe with spike er2 sitting on 12.0 or higher and a better anti air and Italy will step up from the worst top tier nation 2 years ago into the top 5 top tier nations

Paveways do the work against pantsirs. Mavericks are easily shot down by it. I typically gain some speed, yeet it, then pull 30 degrees away. Does the trick with the mirage

Looks like the radar is a placeholder as of right now on the dev server, maybe a copy-paste APG-66 from the F-16A. IRL the APG-65 from the Hornet and AV-8B+ had TWS since they were equipped with AMRAAMs. So it’s definitely not quite accurate as of now.

I know that you check player cards in matches sometimes to see if a person is experienced in the aircraft they're flying, but out of curiosity what do you consider to be the threshold for good/experienced pilots?

Dunno about defyn but I generally look if their k/d, if i know the plane they're flying (you can see by checking the battle log, it will show plane type + if im not wrong method (gun, R-60M, etc.), I check their k/d in the plane. If it's over two i keep in mind they are at least decent

I was browsing your impressive stats and noticed this seems to be your worst plane stats wise. Is there any reason for this other than it being a meh plane for the meta? (i.e. messing around with friends doing goofy stuff)

I love Harriers, they were great in the real world but air RB requires speed. If you're sub sonic there's no point in even trying

love how they just give usa another f16 yet gives italy this harrier when this very harrier was designed an meant for the usmc. gajin loves to give the usa the worse variants of aircraft that ended up multinational. other then the f5e, an the f4s. the whole community was not asking for more f16’s. if anything we wanted different stuff an not just more f16’s with cas ability when there is already many good cas options for almost every country.

gaijin, making russia the strongest nation in game and letting every other nation suffer for months besides america, and dont get me started on britain as well (almost a year for sweden with the viggen...) and yes my opinion is purely based off of fighting pantsirs, and maining sweden :( i wanna play 11.0 viggen but not playable vs f14s and F16s..

Everyone tries to dogfight you because on the Dev server it's only tryhards now. They aren't very good at the Live server and they can't get the vehicles they want. So they join the Dev server to feel superior and special, by acting as toxic as possible to any Players they encounter. On both sides btw.
