The Assassination of Vincent & Margaret Sherry
Vincent Sherry was a judge and Margaret Sherry was running for mayor. Their children were grown and they were spending their later years trying to make change in the world. When they were found dead in their home in 1987, investigators spent years trying to figure out who wanted the Sherrys dead.

Yeah, it's where a state prison is located in Louisiana. A very notorious one, at that. It has a long history that includes a large number of prisoner deaths, prisoners mysteriously "disappearing" from there, decades of prisoners being murdered by guards and buried on the grounds in secret, horrible conditions that you wouldn't leave a dog in, never mind a human, beatings and basic torture and a decent number of prison breaks. Back in the 1950s, a bunch of prisoners cut their own Achilles tendons as a way of protesting the conditions so people would finally take notice. Imagine how bad it had to be for 30+ grown men to decide that permanently crippling themselves was the only choice they had to bring attention to the goings on and get the state to do something about it. Even for many years after (and long before this) it was known as one of the worst prisons to be sent to. Today I believe it is the largest maximum security prison in the US with a large main complex and several outpost type camps. They have a working farm and ranch, where inmates take care of the animals and train horses and care for cattle to be sold. It has it's own airstrip, it's own magazine and is the only US prison to have it's own radio station. It also has a dog training facility. They manufacture farming equipment and tools and every year, it has the Angola Rodeo, which is open to the public. The inmates do all the work with the horses and such for it and those that do crafting such as woodworking, leather crafting and such can set up booths to sell their products to make money to go into their accounts, though if they owe any court ordered restitution, the money they make goes towards that.

Jiles does outstanding research work and flawless delivery. Appreciate the dry humour and sound ethics which is all important to my mind- we don't need weak minded criminal copycats! So glad for such high much needed STANDARDS and NO ADS.❤ Perhaps Rigor Mortis and impact of blood splatter might be more fully described? They seem to be still very mysterious phenomena. Incredible. The script for a "based on a true story" feature film, and the expert way you always tell stories, make me think that you should write it. I think Lynne's rol on the investigation was exemplary. She demonstrated a strong love and loyalty toward her parents.

And a very notorious one. If you're interested in things like that, you should look up the history of Angola prison. Several books have been written by former inmates and interviews done by various news media. I've seen a couple of old documentaries that either include Angola or are about it itself. Lots of corruption, inmate abuse, decades of horrible conditions, deaths, escapees, etc. It was known as the worst US prison for a long time, mwith even hardened criminals getting nervous when they heard they'd be sent there. Today it's the largest maximum security US prison that has its own working farm, horse and cattle ranch, K9 dog training, manufacturing and services like an airstrip used to transport prisoners.
Amazing of the daughter to fight for justice in the face of all those crooked individuals. Its very sad such a close friend would go to such levels to get what he wanted. She was an amazing woman wanting to clean up those who shouldn't be in power and so sad to lose someone who wanted to go into politics for the right reasons. I hope the children have had happy lives despite this profound lose of their loving parents.

I’m annoyed the FBI or any other law enforcement didn’t keep a special eye on Margaret given all the people she was going to take down. If someone were to try to carry out a hit on her and her husband, police would have been able to add another name to the list of who was involved in the entire scheme in the first place too.

Our Mayor in Mobile, Al, about an hour away, recently published a letter to the Mayor of Biloxi calling them out for their police basically forcibly taking homeless individuals and transporting them to our city and just dumping them near shelters here. They have surveillance photos of patrol cars doing it and a ton of interviews with the same story from the people they dropped off.

I think I heard about this case way back watching it on FBI files
34:50 What on earth did she go to the Biloxi police department for? Especially knowing that narc officer was at least probably involved? And her father's law partner now being the mayor? That is at minimum a state police department, but more of a case to take to the FBI. Too many locals involved. That's almost a written request to be next on the list or for a sibling to wind up killed.
